  • Well I knew some of the boys who were stage managers for these guy. So freakin cool. They love that Mushroom Brotherhood. In Florida, Tarpon Springs to be exact. Those were the good old days.

  • They were "from" Florida.

  • he was born in Nashville Ten.

  • great job

  • No, Duane & Gregg Allman were NOT *from* Macon, GA. They *moved* there around the time they became famous. And Gregg DID NOT play the electric piano on this song. Organ maybe. Sure sounds like Berry Oakley (not David Brown) on bass too.

  • Bobby Whitlock can Suck It. This is NOT the Derek and The Dominoes arrangement. Duane dumbed it down for them.

  • Can this version be found on a CD at ll, or only on this album? I looked on Amazon.com and couldn't find it in CD form to buy. :-(

  • @Jeannified The Duane Allman estate is working a lot of old music from tapes. And THANK YOU LORD, putting out things NO ONE has ever heard. Can't wait!!. So hold on, hopefully it will be soon!

  • Had no idea the brothers recorded "Nobody Knows You" before they were "The Allman Brothers Band". And certainly not before Layla". Very nice indeed!!

  • OH

    MAH

    GAWD!

  • Thanks, just got my fixs for the night....

  • ORIGINALY ALLMANS WERE FROM HOLLY HILL FLA. JUST SOUTH OF DAYTONA. PLAYED ALL AROUND IN CENTRAL FL. WITH VARIOUS VERSIONS OF BANDS. SOME THE STARTED AND SOME THEY WOULD JUST PLAY WITH IN DIFFERENT. I HHEARD THIS VERSION LIVE IN THE MISSLE LOUNGE COCOA BEACH JUNE 1967. THEY WERE WORKING WITH SWEET WILLIAM THEY WERE THE STEREO'S

  • @A44TIME I'm pretty sure the Allmans were originally from Macon, GA!!

  • @Debbiedoright29 They were born in Tennesee. After their father was murdered by a mugger when they were quite young, their mother took a job in Florida. That's where they met up with various musicians and eventually the Allman Bros. came to be. Berry Oakley was from Chicago. I visited Duane and Berry's graves back in 1990 on a dark muggy day, it was an emotional experience to be sure.

  • jesus wept

  • Proves two things,Allman brothers were the greatest American band and ever, and Duane had a sound never replicated

  • @mrhandyman1962 I might replace "American" with "rock." The Stones studio work surpasses, but the Stones live performance doesn't come close. Springsteen's E-Street band circa 1975 is the only other live band I believe you could make a case for--back when he didn't have any bad songs.

  • OUCH! Truth hurts dunnit?

  • Damn this hurts so good!

  • Beautiful.

  • Tell the Truth! Love it! You can feel this song!

  • Allman family values. Thanks.

  • Amazing. This is one of the best blues standards but....this is precious. Thank you for sharing this. Beautiful man. xx Peace and blessings ♥

  • all i can say right now is, i love this song

  • Inspiring.

  • True Blues.

  • when they were young.... but you can feel the fire

  • one of the best so so nice just love the kick in of the guitar

  • This keyboard's giving me a tingle. Beautiful version!

  • Check out the Spencer Davis/Winwood version - Ray Charles in a 16 yr old white boy...amazing

  • Suggestion 1: Window of my eyes Cuby & the Blizzards

    Suggestion 2: Down man Brainbox

Just to introduce you with soul from NL

I tried to relate with links inside Youtube but that didn't work, sorry

  • @piet40 Don't forget DeWolff if you wan't it a little bit more psychedelic, hard and young people!

  • Suggestion 1: Window of my eyes & the Blizzards

    Suggestion 2: Down man Brainbox

Just to introduce you with soul from NL

  • why the fuck were they covering THIS in '68? yeah, this will earn them a million.

    haha.brilliant.

  • Wanna know what a moving ,powerfull song can do? Just look in my eyes and watch the tears...

  • Gotta have a Brother or two and a Belly Button!!!

    \

  • Lord! I have got to pour a drink after listening to this.

The Ray Charles comment is spot on.

  • They were THIS soulful already in '68 - it's absolutely knock-out stuff (is there any other kind from these two?) ; ) THANKS much for sharing it!!!!

  • When they played together, Skydog would always yell out " That's my brotha' singin..... That's my brotha' singin!!

  • I had this on 8 track and wish I still had it. Not sure how would play it (as an after thought). I believe this is an old Elmore James song!

  • * * * * *

  • I'm going to eat a peach and enjoy, over and over again

  • When you got soul you don't need any fair weathered friends. Ron Dennis Wheeler has lived this song also!!!

  • This is awesome, but can't touch Derek and the Dominos version, Duane and Clapton fed off each other and made magic on that Layla record.

  • @savethedowns True, the guitars are better on that version, but Gregg's voice makes this one special.

  • duane playin a tele! enjoy kids! love the bridge at the end 11111moretime!

  • duane playin a tele! enjoy kids!

  • Driving home , I heard this on WWOZ in New Orleans and couldn't wait to hear it again . Gregg Allman is one of the best blues vocalists ever. And that previous comment about him sounding like Ray Charles is right on. At first I thought it was a duet . This was also recorded on a demo under the band name "The Thirty-first of February" which was a band they were in with Butch Trucks before they became the Allman Brothers Band.

  • The Allman Brothers are true artist, they know exactly how to write and perform live

they dont need to rip anyone off, thats not their style, just listen to the soulfulness, they dont teach this in music school, you have to be born with it then it comes out in an energy thru your body to the piano, guitar, and vocals...

  • dont hurt me, dont hurt me, they kicked that song ass.

  • I CAN'T BELIEVE IT. This is just wrong,Gregg rips off Steve Winwood on his studio version with Spencer Davis Group of this song. Every piano lick and vocal run is a direct copy except for the high notes Steve does, just listen to the intro!

  • @rhye999 Shit happens man -- they recorded this in 1968. Duane's been dead for 40 years -- Gregg ain't during so good -- so, lighten up man ... the Bros are legends in their own right -- just enjoy the soulful vocals & relax dude.

  • @rhye999 This song was written by Jimmy Cox in 1923, with a ton of artists covering it. Maybe Greg's recording "might" have to do with his admiration of Winwood, instead of just "ripping him off" ? It's a great song; regardless of who did it. Peace.

  • Testify!

  • than you for posting this, i love it, where have all the good artist gone?..

  • Where's the g#ddamn "Love" button!!!!!!!

  • @doggskull a frickin" men bro!

  • @doggskull hahaha! oh i needed a good chuckle tonight hon thank youuuu xD

  • A great soul tune by the brothers. Gregg has a great blues/soul voice, great to hear him sing this kind of stuff. RIP Duane, you are surely missed.

  • The most talented band ever!!!!!!

  • Time sucks!

    God bless you Gregg!

God bless you, Duane and happy birthday!

  • @dflec Yes it is offcause !

  • My baby loves these guys

  • Timeless beauty. Duane and Gregg sang and represented the blues back then on our behalf - like two strong warriors. Because, in one form or another, we all have The Blues in us. Today, Devon Allman calls it "Space Age Blues" - and you will see that Devon carries his Uncle's guitar strap across his heart to prove it. Duane is still with us!

  • Awesome.

  • This song is also on the K-tel album "Fantastic Allman Brothers - Original Hits" 1974

    Lots of great stuff.

  • Amazing how much soul they had right from the beginning. They were kids, and so was I, and I worshipped them for this shit. They blew me away.

  • Cool, real, and down to earth. The Allman Brothers really capture the feel of this song.

  • Early Allmans, timeless, immortal....it's unimaginable to conceive that as good as Duane and Gregg were back then that they could reach the level of greatness and soar well beyond excellence...for a time :((

  • Gregg sounds just like Ray Charles from102-104

  • @terrho7 Also 1:36 to 1:42

  • @mikestrat56 you're right ; -)

  • @terrho7 Yeah, man he does! I think Gregg is one of the best blues rock singers america ever had.

  • @terrho7 thats because of how the audio came out

  • Cool..............That's what I'm talking about

    Good Album
