Vintage prices are ridiculous dude...700 for a 1484? gimme a break, two famous people use them and they jump that high? They aren't actually worth more than 400 for the set.
@ShivaTheAuspicious As I say in the video I traded my Wii and games/accessories (worth about $350 three years ago) for the head and paid $350 for the cab, which was new. So that's where the $700 comes from.
Do you know what ohm rating is suitable for this amp head. I saw yours said a minimum of 4 Ohms. Is it any different for the 1483. I am trying to do some research on it, but i can't seem to find much on the 1483.
Yeah i am thinking that too. Do you know if the wattage on the back of the head is accurate? I have heard of 1483's being 45 watts or 25 watts. Mine says 109 Watts, which is a really strange number.
sorry i talked too much for you. if i had turned it up to where it was 'grinding,' i would be deaf right now. my 1484 is one of the most powerful 1484s ive ever encountered with a SHITload of headroom
bauersnarky, have you played a Gretsch Special Jet?
Gretsch canceled the Special Jet and apparently are happy with letting the 'Vette take the place as their slab, with the Junior I and II taking the spot of the LP style but for a cheaper price.
Personally, I don't think it's that heavy. I haven't put it on a scale or anything, but it certainly doesn't feel any heavier than what one would expect.
I'm guessing you're pretty happy with the Jet II. I thought about getting a Junior Jet bass, I really like the sound, but short scale just isn't for me. There's a normal scale version, it's just hard to find.
Anyway, if you have the option of grabbing a Special Jet, I'd go for it. They regularly go for about 250 on the internet.
Love mine save for two things. Bottom/finger side of the frets, couple aren't completely flush with the neck, and while the bridge is fine, I might put a Bigsby on it.
But is it any good, i've heard the pickups wheren't that great. If that's not the case i'll wont buy a les paul junior or are there any juniors with two pickups? Oh and thanks for the reply.
damn, now i'm confused, i was planning to buy a Gibson junior but it has one neck pickup so this would be more interesting to buy. Is the neck glued on?
no the juniors have one bridge pickup, and they smoke...dont let the fact its a one pickup guitar fool you. It takes that sound and doesnt better than anything else will. You find out later how important that is, a piece of gear thats concentrated on doing that one job.

has it got a over drive knob? wanna get that horrible overdriven sound velvet under ground white stripes etc.
leed1984 2 years ago
as far as the amp goes I'm not sure, but Jack White from the White Stripes uses a Big Muff Fuzz pedal thing to get his sound. Hope that helps.

But is it any good, i've heard the pickups wheren't that great. If that's not the case i'll wont buy a les paul junior or are there any juniors with two pickups? Oh and thanks for the reply.
dirtypaper 2 years ago
Yes there are Les Paul Jnrs. w/ 2 pickups, they're called Les Paul Specials, and the pickups are VERY dependent on the amp.
lagman50 2 years ago
i can't choose :-) maybe testing them first would be a good idea.
Thanks again lagman50
dirtypaper 2 years ago
what the hell? nevermind what lagman50 said, the neck isnt glued on, it's a bolt-on, and no it isnt 'cheap'. this guitar's built like a tank.
bauersnarky 2 years ago
Nothing wrong with a set neck anyway. Didn't know the Junior's were bolt on.
