I'm certain I could closely profile every member of a family not simply by what they choose to watch, but more precisely what they choose not to watch on the alternate channels. Think about it. Even with only five simultaneous choices of completely different veins, each one appealing to specific political, spiritual, or even personality characteristics. It would be so simple.
Why do you suppose the Federal government mandated 100% digital tv broadcast? Why would the Fed find it so important for local syndicated analog reruns, some even black and white, to be broadcast in digital quality?
So important in fact they provided my Grandma, my Dad, and anyone else who filed a form a converter box at no charge. So important that they supplied any foundering, all but forgotten local station all the equipment necessary with no concern at all for viability, interest, profits or budgets. So important that they simply set the date, doled out the funds and forced this monumental overhaul costing hundreds of millions as quietly as flipping a switch.
One must only understand the implications of a remotely programmable, electronically registered, seemingly benign piece of digital hardware in every room of every home. Hardware that remains active 24/7, linked to bandwidth capable of both transmitting, and receiving hundreds of millions of simultaneous feeds. Suddenly it’s easy to see the profound significance and critical importance for federally mandated Hogan’s Heroes reruns.
No i saw The Time Warner cable page announcing it was going to put a camera in cable boxes!!!!! " to help with customer service wtf really really??!! It was cashed on Google but removed from the website I saw it qwith my own 2 eyes The page and the .com
if this conversion from analog to digital has nothing to do with government, why is it being pressed up on the entire WORLD??? why would the government be interested in the cable providers, FORCING the world to go digital?

But, putting that aside also along with the other conspiracys about the switch, the govt owes china money.~ Lets say about 90% of thoes boxes were made where.... o_O
I think this ones a little out there. Not everything is a conspiracy...........we should be focusing on the FEMA death camps, that's where the real shit is going down.
I don't know about you, but I am bothered far less by TV cameras than by other things. If you put a TV camera in my house, you'd see me sleeping, eating, shitting, and occasionally screwing my wife. BFD.
But intercept my Internet traffic and read the files on my computer and you learn far more about me, my thoughts, dreams, hopes and so forth. I consider that much more sensitive yet most people shrug at NSA spying on comm traffic and get hung up on cameras. Go figure.
I did see your part 2, when you first put it out in Feb. Your "proof" is a patent that has nothing to do with actual digital TVs?
You're really making yourself look silly with these paranoid TV rants. There are plenty of real threats to worry about like government access to your cell phone call and tracking data and ISP traffic. Or the absysmal state of Microsoft software security that lets millions of machines, some with cameras, be hacked and organized into botnets.
Why would you want to do that anyway, when real cameras are so small and cheap? I have one facing me at this very moment, built into the lid of my Apple MacBook Pro. If I were really worried about it, and if I didn't trust Apple's software a lot more than I trust Microsoft, I could just put a piece of tape over it.
Well, I'm an engineer too. But this does NOT make sense. It's just a paranoid rant by someone who hasn't the slightest clue what they're talking about.
Like I just said, this is a paranoid rant by someone who hasn't the slightest clue what they're talking about. In fact, to any who does know even a little electronics, this is pretty funny but also a little sad. People always fear what they don't understand, and boy, they sure don't understand much.
you think the gov't doesnt want two-way communication TV connections, let alone the ability to see/listen inside? the gov't wants to data mine EVERYTHING. and if they need they'll throw a case against you.
have you ever asked yourself why the gov't is making it MANDATORY to have digital TV? does that demand even really make sense to you?
FROM NOW ON, EVERYONE IS FORCED TO USE SATELLITE RADIO. FM AND AM ARE NOW BANNED.
Actually, mandatory digital TV makes perfect sense. Analog TV was a very wasteful use of valuable spectrum. None of the new digital stations will transmit above channel 51, so channels 52-69 are being freed up for better uses.
Digital TVs can't spy on you. I'd be more concerned about your computer with the built-in TV camera running buggy, insecure Microsoft software.
however, our world/country is riddled with corruption. MANDATORY digital tv does not make sense. it's a service, people should have the option to pay for it.
you are incorrect about not being spyed on. digital TV is a two-way communication. anything else is one direction (your TV only downloads FROM the station).
there is very little gain for the industry to demand every human uses digital as a signal. there is a lot to gain if you're collecting info
By the way, digital broadcast TV is hardly "Mandatory". I don't know of any law forcing you to own a TV set. I know a few people who survive quite nicely without one.
Even though most people I know do have TV sets, they don't watch anything off the air. They subscribe to cable or satellite, or they watch stuff they download off the Internet.
and you're right. they're not banning AM/FM with this mandate. it's only TV-related.
but they ARE about to regulate the internet soon too.
stimulus, digital tv, internet regulation, control over private businesses. all these are moves for more power to the gov't. they're all slow moves for more power.
if you still dismiss this as paranoia, then you are in direct disagreement with the founding fathers. THEY advocated free market regulation. NOT gov't regulation.
Um, I still see plenty of analog broadcast stations on the FM and AM radio bands, and I certainly haven't heard of any plans to ban them. Analog radio is inferior to digital radio, but it's not quite as ridiculously wasteful of spectrum as analog TV so there hasn't been the same strong need to phase it out just yet.
you're missing the point. government doesnt mandate something unless it directly benefits from it. they're not just trying to be nice. and that isn't paranoia, that's just common sense.
how bout this. we DEMAND everyone has more than just a phone. we demand you have a blackberry with "EXTRA FEATURES" such as GPS tracking and call logs. they're convenient! sound like a friendly gov't mandate to you?
Yes indeed, government DID benefit from the digital TV transition. They auctioned off channels 52-69 to commercial users for many billions of dollars. They also kept some of that spectrum for police, fire, etc. users.
But digital TVs still can't spy on you.
If you want to argue economics, well, I'd say we just got a good demo of what happens when you deregulate markets too much. They crash. We'll need regulation as long as people are greedy, i.e., forever.
You know what? I *am* concerned about what happens to phone tracking data. GPS made it easier to find you when you want to be found (after calling 911) and when you don't. But any radio transmitter, with or without GPS data, can still be found. It's a simple fact of physics.
I suggest is turning off your phone when you're not using it. Or don't carry one.
But you just look silly and ignorant when you keep insisting that digital TVs can spy on you.
but that's my whole point. the powers are dualities. they have dual uses. they sell it as "GPS can save your life if you're lost!" but then there's the data-mining capabilities.
tell me how digital TV is so important that it saves lives. tell me how it is so important to americans that we have clearer TV visuals. tell me how it is so important to the industry that we demand digital signals. then try and tell me why it's so fkn important that the gov't MANDATES we all go along with it.
I'll explain it again. Radio spectrum is extremely valuable. It routinely bids for billions of dollars. But analog TV is very wasteful of spectrum. It doesn't work nearly as well. It's much more sensitive to interference. It makes perfect sense to replace analog TV with digital TV and use that spectrum more efficiently.
Aside from the cost of converters, which have been subsidized by the auction revenues, there's absolutely nothing wrong with digital TV.
It's obvious to me that you find digital TV threatening simply because it's new and mysterious. You don't understand it, and you think you don't control it.
So learn about it. Understand how it works and why it's better than analog. Discover that no, it can't spy on you. And you'll be a lot happier.
Look, this is a question of fact, not personal opinion. It's not a story with two equal sides. Either your garden-variety mass marketed digital TV set can spy on you, or it can't.
well how do you know this patent does NOT work or that it will not be developed further in the future? have you actually worked thru the entire patent and come to a viable conclusion? i haven't, but i'm not dismissing the POSSIBILITY of it's capability.
let's just agree to disagree to the possibility we're arguing over.
i could just as easily say to you there are effective treatments for ignorance. both poor arguments and cheapshots.
How do I know the patent won't be developed in the future? I don't. Heck, I don't know that existing miniature TV cameras won't be planted in the cans of soda that I buy in the future. What does that have to do with the digital TV transition? Nothing at all.
Face it, you simply didn't know what the hell you're talking about. There are plenty of real privacy threats to be concerned about. This isn't one of them.
well i guess the most obvious WTF question is concerning the government......being that the governments of the world now have their hands in every pot even the ones not concerning anything governmental at all.....what is it the government's business if everybody has analog television or digital?
I couldn't help but think of that kids movie, "the brave little toaster", during the rant about becoming a throw away society. I agree with your point by the way, and don't mean to sidetrack the seriousness of this topic by mentioning a cartoon.
