Every time I see something like this, I always wonder how us wicked humans can have such an endless and beautiful imagination... these things in the world are priceless.
@sbeer6er : Thats the good thing about these clocks. You cannot buy them. You must make them yourself, which makes them so valuable and worth having. One of the few things left that money cannot buy. Buy a plan from Clayton Boyer and make your own today. (his site is mentioned in the video description text)
What a great Job You did on this clock, This is my next build of Claytons wonderful designs, It is amazing what You can learn by watching a video of the actual clock before you build, ,and Your videos are the best, I have watched nearly all of them,I just dont leave many comments, but will start, You deserve The recognition, Thanks adrian
@61066clocks : Thanks for the comments. I consider Radiance to be the most difficult of Clayton's builts. It looks easy but there are so many small elements that conspire against you. But when you get it right, its worth it.
@adrianiredale Thanks Adrian, It appears that not only accuracy within the build ,but a lot of tweaking and find adjustment after iniatial start up, I know what You are saying ,what appearsto be the most simpliest of builds can sometimes be the most complicated ,thanks for the responce....Tim
I've browsed the clocks on Mr. Boyer's site and the Radiance is definitely my favorite. I love its clean, sweeping lines as well as the operation of the deceptively simple-looking escapement. Nicely done! I have a small picture of it set as my computer desktop background, and coworkers have already asked me what it is. :)
Incidentally, what's the music from? It fits the video quite well.
@xacharon It's an Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni. I heard a version of this intermezzo where they've put in Ave Maria as lyrics. very moving. try searching for ave maria mascagni to hear the one with the "ave maria" vocals. It's very nice.
This is indeed an ingenious escapement. When the torsional pendulum loses enough energy through friction, it triggers a latch which allows the large gear with peg-shaped teeth to rotate; the tooth then gives the pendulum a new impulse through a disk which has a wedge-shaped cut.
