Menthe Fraiche by Heeley Fragrance/Cologne Review (2009)

I just sampled this and holy cow this is the most natural smelling mint in perfume that I've smelt. Beats the living daylights out of Roadster

I had a sample of this and became obsessed with it ... until I bought it. Now that I have a full bottle, it totally bores me.

@jackshamama yes it will do that. It's a heat monster and that's the only time I take it out. Even sometimes in spring I don't get the full effect with this one. It's linear , what can I say

Wow this one is minty. But linear. Unchanging. And unsophisticated. And imo not worth the cash in my opinion. I would pull this on a warm spring day but that's about it. There's quality juice no doubt, but i'd like more complexity for that kind of moolah. Oh and Heeley is good, but he's not JCE good. :D

Excellent review. I've only worn this once (luckyscent sample) and thought it was very nice. I love mint fragrances, roadster is my signature. But during my 1 wearing of MF all I could think of is toothpaste/mouthwash. I probably just need more wearings to get a better appreciation for it. Heeley definitely needs to offer 30-50ml bottles

GPM is fresher, especially in the opening, but gets sharper and more mature. I find it a bit better than MF because there is more going on. MF is extremely linear. But it is the second best Heeley after OALSTBOSC.

I agree, Menthe Fraiche is the perfect mint fragrance. The mate in the base helps anchor it, gives it grounding and lasting power. And I agree with the "feel" as similar to JC Ellena's fragrances. A very high quality fragrance - perfection!

Glad to hear your take on this one. I, however, wasn't quite so impressed. Didn't really smell like a fragrance to me, in that it just kinda smelled like a mint oil you might find in a candy shop or something. Roadster smells like somebody really knew their stuff and delivered the goods, IMO. But as far as comparisons to other frags, I do see this being in it's own category, if nothing else. I'd say Oranges and Lemons was my favorite Heeley that I've tested. Sel Marin maybe second, then MF.

I am not sure if I ever seen you this excited over a fragrance before.. I have to try this one for sure.. I wasn't a big fan of roadster, but I liked live jazz.. this one sounds interesting. And I think you underestimate your other reviews. Besides the extra hyping.. and enthusiasm for it. your other reviews are just as high of quality as this one.
