  • what kind of safety do you use to avoid breathing those gases when working with lead?

  • I have an old monitor and I am trying to find lead for casting bullets. Where inside the monitor would I find the lead? How much would be in one?

  • Not that long, about an hour probably. The fire underneath did a lot. I tried to do one pour with just a propane weed burner, It worked but I went through a lot of propane. If you are doing yours all in one pour make sure your melting pot is well supported. I friend of mine did a big pour from a cast iron bathtub and it wasn't evenly supported and it cracked. There were pools of lead all over his driveway.

  • Cool!! How long did it take for it all to melt? I'll be doing this to 1600# of lead soon.

  • I never get over how cool the idea of steel floating is.

  • Actually it is 1200 pounds and I got it originally from tire weights. This is my second keel for this boat and I melted the old one to get this lead.

  • where in the world did you get 600 lbs of lead??

  • thats one cool setup dude.
