Juniors music is a cross between the gold country of the 1960's and 70's classic rock of the same era and it tells some good stories. I feel he's a fantastic artist!
I worked highway patrol from 1986 to 1998 in California. Just me, my 1990 Ford Mustang 5.0 – Special Service Package and the open road, best job you could ever have!
@TheTGDavis Among the musical elite (who's names aren't even on the internet) Jr IS the big time. Jr would like to have several #1 songs but it's not a top priority, thank God. I can count on 5 fingers the artists I want to see before I die and Jr's one of them, well maybe two if I had to use up another just to see him live.
@chub4play Saw him at the Contiental Club in Austin a couple of months ago and was blown away both with JR and the venue. I thought I had stepped back in time. Afterwards, I saw him backstage, shook his hand and told him how much I had enjoyed the show. Later, I saw him telling his band members that "We blew them away". He was as excited as if it had been his first show! Amazing!
I agree with people who say this man looks, and sounds like Ernest Tubb. The only thing is, Ernest Tubb didn't play a guitsteel the way Junior does. I seriously think someone should pick up this guy, because he would be a top moneymaker for them. He has only three recognizable hits, "My Wife Thinks You're Dead," "I Hung It Up," and, of course, this gem right here. Another knod goes to his version of the Beach Boys' hit, "409."
Junior's playing style is very reminiscent of the old surfin sound of the 60s made famous by Dick Dale. It's too bad that sound got type cast because it's very complicated to play.... Junior rocks it out great!
Looking forward to seeing Junior Brown again next month. It's been 10 years. Awesome player, and a clever songwriter. Another clear example how little commercial success has to truly great art. What an innovator!
I just envisioned some insistent IATSE union workers covering the backline and doing the whole thing..."Yeah, it takes three guys to take down this snare drum!" "Got a problem with that?!!!" lol
Junior is AWESOME, have been a LONGTIME fan, I love this song, my FAV one by him... my son is a Cop and he walked in on my rockin' out to this one day, laughed his *#% off too, but He liked it as well, LOL... Junior is fun to watch, his band too... would love them to come to Delaware and do a show...
Exact same facial expressions as Alex Lifeson.
I think they could be twins......
