The only reason I remember this at all is because of the babe in a bikini, which I still think is inappropiate for a kids series... It would be akin to having a bikini model on sesame street explaining to elmo what she does for a living.

First time I seen this I thought you knock off Godzilla Series yet I checked it out and I couldn't watch it anymore it sucked ass.But to tell you the truth I would have watched an episode or episodes when they team up with Godzilla.

This series kind of sucked since the viloence seems toned down in comparison to the source material. I got the complete series on dvd and they changed many of the facts surrounding Kong's origin, and royally failed the anchient history aspects of the show. The old Kong would kill humans and dinos indiscriminately yet this one is "The Protector" and so he's not allowed to kill anything, even the bad guys.

@That is because he was created from the old Kong DNA and since it was possible for him to fuse with a human, I guess the animals instinct in him was more humane, and he grew up with humans :D

@SilentStalkerX Pardon me for sounding mean, but that was the obvious connection. Although there were still copy right laws in place on the original king kong so this series had to alter the facts and generally base itself on the supposed novels that king kong was based on.

Hey, as far as I knew, King Kong never involved the assimilation of DNA between men and ape, so I was confused. Also, the series was called "Kong: the animated series" as opposed to "KING Kong: the animated series". TQ for the clarification

King Kong kills anyone who tries to take ann away from him and is a very good fighter, the whole idea here in this series is a real WTF to me. It looks really corny and so many extra things that shouldnt be on skull island.

@TheBadApple2008 Your assessment of their public perception is inaccurate. Kong is the relic. Had one important movie, one remake and no important sequel under Hollywood. He has no lasting power. Godzilla has more movies and far more references in pop culture. MTV for example gave Godzilla a lifetime achievement award, 1 of only 3 fictional characters to receive this. Kong is not one of them. Godzilla also has his own star in the hollywood walk of fame.yet the american kong does not.

@SenjiroAkechi Actually, King Kong is as good as Godzilla, the 2005 Remake had mind-blowing special effects, amazing dialogue. King Kong and Godzilla are completely different. King Kong is meant to be the eight wonder of the world, something hiden on the planet. Godzilla was meant to show how dangerous nuclear weapons can be. That's it, no need to compare them two.

This was actually an okay show that aired in 2000. It was unlicensed. The novelization of King Kong is in the public domain. Turner (or Warners or whoever owns it now), owns the name KING KONG. So they called it KONG. Its about a clone of the original Kong. The human boy would somehow dematerialize & be "merged" with Kong, making him grow bigger & stronger, & help him fight. It was pretty convoluted. The bad monsters were merged animals/humans that became giants.

@sickid3 Actually it was on first run syndication on the block BKN in 2000-2001. Fox played reruns from May 2001-August 2001 and Jetix (ABC Family and Toon Disney) later played reruns from 2005-2008.

Thats a pretty cool show but its not an official licensed KING KONG project. The book is in the public domain and they claimed it was based on that. The picture on DeLePortas wall shows Kong on the Empire State battling jets. Just like in the old cartoon from 60s.
