Crown Vics were used in the movie...Ford DID have a Taurus police vehicle like metal mentioned, my Dept. had one as a Traffice Car and was a ticket writtin' machine... people never expected it to be a patrol car...WRONG! It was, and a fun one at that!

They were Grand Marquis, not Taurus. Cops generally used Crown Vics or Caprice Classics in that time frame. It is not unheard of to use a Grand Marquis, especially for highway cops as they are a bit more comfortable and the same general build as a Crown Vic... That being said, I had a used Vermont highway patrol car, and it was a 96 Caprice Classic.
