  • Always loved this car. I saw a few people ask what rims they are, it took me forever to find out. Theyre MB Motoring Competition wheels and unfortunately theyre now discontinued, if anyone knows where a set is let me know haha I want them for my black svo!

  • lol NICE 2-STROKE!

I hope you weren't running cats for this, they're probably buggered now...

  • Wow black and bronze look really good together!

  • FUCK CATALYTIC CONVERTERS MENG

  • wtf twin turbo on a 4cyl ????? thats not a 4.6 cobra!!!!! single is the way to go

    nice stang

  • hahaha im a dousch i thought it was a it was a nissan rb25tt so is that a volvo motor

  • NICE SWAP BETTER THEN THAT 4CYL CRAP

  • @NOxMAMESxWEY it is a 4 cyl

  • @jll2k1us Fail!

  • @jll2k1us rotfl OWNED

  • @NOxMAMESxWEY

    wow...

  • @NOxMAMESxWEY Hahahaha....what the hell type of motor did you think it was you donkey? Intake mani on one side of the motor, and exhaust mani on the other...wow some peoples children!

  • @NOxMAMESxWEY are you an idiot?

  • not a true SVO

  • @87Jaws oh really, why is that?

  • @jll2k1us never mind i watched it again and saw the headlights it a svo. Sorry, ive seen to many people with 2.3l lx mustangs throw on a turbo and front end, and rear spoiler and call it a SVO. i got a 1986 SVO with only 44,000 miles all stock parts except exhaust is a 3in truck exhaust with no cats or muffler.

  • @87Jaws yeah, I'm not an SVO nut, its still a foxbody in the end. Especially this one is nothing like original.

  • What engine is that?

  • That's not a Ford motor ... But I bet its fast ha

  • @ANTIONE43 Ford 2.3 block with Volvo twin cam head.

  • @jll2k1us did ford put the volvo head on or is that something you did yourself?

  • @bigenginesismythang It never came that way, a lot of modifications have to be done to make it work.

  • @jll2k1us oh ok kool yeah i was just asking cuz one of the turbo engines dodge used in the early 90's had a lotus head on it.... so is the stock head a single cam? im curious to know more about theses cars because im thinkin about getting a turbo bird

  • i wish my four banger sounded like that

  • how do you twin turbo a 4 cylinder is it compound turbo

  • @zax590 No, it uses paired cylinders, so 1 turbo for 2 cylinders. 1 and 4 are paired and 2 and 3 are paired, this utilizes pulse energy as much as possible to help with fast spool. The car was switched to single anyway, the twin setup is just too hard to work on for questionable benefits. A twin scroll turbo with paired cylinders would be better in every way I think.

  • @jll2k1us oh ok well ive never heard of a twin turbo 4cyl before so i thought i would ask

  • @jll2k1us your better of with a compund setup

  • Worthless engine.

  • Man dude put a 5.0 with a blower in there stat!!

  • @Laidoutbug then you would ruin the SVO.....

  • @Laidoutbug Dude, 5.0 sux, wastes gas and doesnt even have good torq. This engine is small and light, and has much more HP per square inch.

  • @ThaRealGecko yeah 5.0s dont have torque. youre on d d d drugs

  • @MrKyleSchick Im not on drugs... Yet, will be in while tho :D. the best stock 5.0 has shown 365 Tq. at 6000 RPM at the dyno, at 1800 RPM it has around 200 or even less, While the little 6 banger i have makes 340 Tq. at 1800 RPM and maintains it at most RPM range. So yes, 5.0 dont have much torque at low end. Mine is Much slower at high speeds, but from idle it has an incredible fast response that i havent felt even in the Cobra '10.

  • listen to the turbo spool........oh wait, thats just belt squeal.

  • Kick-fucking-ass!! You're clearly a car enthusiast just checking at the mods you did. I bet it eats GT's for breakfast, nice job dude!

  • whats an SVO? it looks like a foxbody mustang

  • @TheSigp220 svo was a version of the fox mustang. it came with a turbo 2.3l 4 banger

  • @TheSigp220 wow

  • what brand rims?

  • what kinda Turbo and BoV? BoV sounds like the HKS Ssqv

  • @KenWorthboyw900l dude I think thats the belts squealing when he hits the gas, because as low as he is reving it up the turbo has no time to make boost or blow off if it even has a bov.

  • rice

  • @the6cow6god6 It's a U.S. made car dumbass, So please go ahead and explain how that relates to the Japaneses cultural reference of "Rice"

  • hi from romania..r3spect

  • Love the different look with the wheels, im making my 93 5.0 coupe into a drift car, and looking for a slick rally look just like this.

  • hella fuckin nice.. Twins with the volvo head that fuckin nice,

  • thats the volvo head isnt it?

  • I THINK that these wheels are arcana... Produced by Yokohama... Not to sure though

  • those volvo heads are hard to convert .. i wanted to do one but then when i compared them they are wayyy different

  • what engine is that?

  • hey im a bit of a noob. but is it meant to be smoking like that?

  • them ugly drift wheels from fast n the furious i love the car but no

  • smoke screen!

  • those sum clean rims

  • What's the point in having twin turbos, if it is a 4 cylinder and only has 1 head?

  • @papaown uh. wtf?

the Supra (2JZ-GTE), Skyline (RB26DETT) and the new BMW 335i (N54B3001), are all twin turbo and have one head.

RX7s dont even have heads and came with two turbos.

  • @OMGItsWeasel

No idea about the BMW, but didn't the Supra and GTR technically only have 1 main turbo then just a small turbo to basically spool the larger? This car has 2 of the same sized turbos, doesn't make much sense, or maybe I'm missing something.

  • @papaown not really, they had two equal sized turbos. sequential turbo and twin turbo is two different methods of using two equal sized turbos. also, youre thinking about compound turbos, the smaller turbo being used to spool the larger and the smaller one actually being diverted around to feed just the big one.

in sequential, the first turbo gets all the exhaust gas energy and spools quickly. then the wastegates divide the exhaust into the other turbo and both of them create pressure together.

  • @OMGItsWeasel

Oh, ok I get ya, thanks. Also, damn you responded in under 9 minutes lol.

  • wheels?

  • coldstart?

  • dame i fking lovee those rims i got the same but not that color did u paint urs or it came like that

  • @300zx93nismo1 They were refinished in that color when I bought them

  • @jll2k1us Bro are thouse 4 lugs?

  • @jll2k1us Hey what size are they? 17 x 9? What lug? 4 or 5? there beautiful! Nice car

  • @jll2k1us

wat type of rims r thoes?

  • @jll2k1us wat rims r thoes

  • beautiful...beautiful...theres a svo by where i live...but its trashed/ dented/ headlights are busted/ all the badges are missing/ no motor or trans/ BUT its got a sunroof, and they wont sell it..

  • I love your car. I have a 84 svo and I would like to know more about the volvo head. is it a direct bolt on? what would I need for a setup like that?

  • Thats a nice car. What car does that head come off of? jw never seen that b4

  • thats the first time i have heard a 4 sound like an 8 great job

  • not only did you use nissan turbos, you used nissan wheels

  • 1. that aint a 4cyl, least not stock and 2. the SVO mustang wasent a 2.3 it was 2.7

  • @skill178

all you have to do is google search it, SVO mustangs were indeed 2.3L 4 cylinders... not a 2.7 or whatever youre claiming

  • @skill178 The SVO Mustang was ALWAYS a 2.3!!!!!! and nothing else

  • @skill178 no shit its not stock and the SVO was a 2.3 and I belive the 2.3 was the only 4 banger offered in a Stang

  • @wheeler8801 ... you would be correct on that ... ford only has a 2.3 and a 2.5 both was offered in the ranger but only 2.3 in the mustang .... the 2.3 still had more power then the 2.5 stock though

  • @skill178 dude im from the uk and even i know SVOs were 2.3 'pinto' engine, and as the comments say its a Volvo head on a Ford bottom end

  • i love the wheels are they gram lights?

  • I want those rims on my '86 gt. Which wheels are they and are they 5 lug???

  • where did you get the volvo head off of? was it hard to install???

  • Very clean. I like the wheels too.

  • do you have blow by or somthing because thers alot of smoke or what ever that is

  • It's likely just cold outside, look at the posted date.

  • what did you take that motor out of? cuz stock 4 cylinder mustangs were only SOHC

  • As you can see from many of the other videos, it's a Ford block with a Volvo B234F cylinder head.

  • damn, thats some creative shit, nice job.

  • Did I see this car on Jalopnik(.)com about a week ago, you had it for sale? I saw one that looked very similar in the "nice piece or crack pipe" section.

  • That's the one.

  • I don't know the performance it creates, but damn if it doesn't make under the hood look better. What are the performance details to the Volvo head bro?

  • @jll2k1us bolt on?

  • @jll2k1us could of sworn ive seen an xr4ti guy do the same thing

  • @Stormhammer87 There are a few Volvo conversions out there running

  • either its cold outside or your burning alot of oil or the verdict could be a head gasket

  • 2.3.... how much hp?

  • Very nice. Bet it sounds beast with the single. What wheels do you have on the car?

  • that is bad ass!

  • Are those Gram Lights?

  • Bitchin brakes/wheels/ride height man. Car looks killer.

  • you know where to get headers for a 2.3?

  • Esslinger, Racerwalsh, CheapHP search buddy.

  • @culp7

    from a 93 and up ranger 2.3

or i think esslinger makes some

  • You know... I was going to ask why you put duals on a 4banger but then I went and looked at your Car domain. That is one seriously kick ass car man.

    5 stars.

  • It's not twin turbo anymore and never had "true" dual exhaust, though there really is no advantage to dual exhaust other than being able to flow more through dual 3" than through single 3.5 (potentially). The main reason for the duals remaining is convenience of bolt-on Cobra duals, since the car has Cobra IRS and the pipes run under the diff.

  • sweet i got one if anybody is interested

  • more than likely with it bein an svo its a pcv valve, your oil return from the turbos is cloged, or 1 of the turbos are burnt up... my 84 did somethin like that after i got in my new turbo and my problem just happened to be oil still in the exhaust from the turbo crappin out oh and it needed a new pcv valve

  • Very Nice Work I own a 1986 SVO All Stock you took this car to the next level. I really like the work you did to the car.

  • hey man i likes the stang but from the look of the exhaust smoke it looks like your either running a little rich or u have a coolant leak in one of the cylinders

  • From the looks of your comment, you can't read the description.

  • read the description dumb shit

  • are those volvo head?

  • Hey I have an 84 SVO and thought about doing the hybrid setup and figuring since you are experienced with the setup, I was wondering if its worth doing compared to installing like a ported D port head? Also I heard that doing the volvo head swap makes the motor an interference motor? I don't know, that whole setup looks way cool but scary to do at the same time.

  • No matter what it will be interference, but you do need small flycuts in the piston to give safe clearance even in normal operation. It is well worth it, the Volvo head stock flows as much or more up to .400" lift as the ARCA head made by Esslinger. It's not a huge port yet it flows amazingly well. It's a lot of work to put on but if you're willing to deal with that it is well worth it.

  • I like the wheels!

  • Thanks Mark, didn't mean to delete all of your comments but just the ones dealing with that jerk. I like Fords, Volvos, and a lot of other cars, can't understand what possesses a person to be so hateful for no reason at all.

  • Hi! MAT here, The smoke may also be due to the wrong size oil feed restrictors on the turbo`s they will need to be 0.6mm if it is to large or maybe you dont have any fiited it will smoke or blow the seal out of the turbo GT25 & 28`s dont like to much oil flow, Hope this may help.

  • It was fitted with oil restrictors, I think the drains were just too restrictive. As I've said this setup has been removed in favor of a single turbo because it's far easier to work on and less to go wrong. See my newer videos, no smoke.

  • Hey where did you get the twin turbo maifold for the 2.3 i got a 2.3T also its in a 89' hatch, sharp car.

  • It's a custom piece, I have most of the parts and turbos for doing twin turbo on the volvo head and will sell them but the manifold will only work on the Volvo cylinder head.

  • smokin like a chimney

  • One thing that is nice about the SVO's is the fact that they came with 5 lugs, and all around disk brakes.

  • ugly wheels ditch em

  • Sounds like your opinion, I really couldn't care less to be honest. The wheels aren't going anywhere.

  • nice car, rather have a v8 turbo ,but still very nice

  • What wheels are those? Nice car man props

  • Wow. Wow. Man, I...wow. Fly that Blue Oval Flag high, man- that thing is just...wow.

  • I appreciate the comments but I really wish you anyone posting could take a few seconds to read my description where I explain that the smoking is from the turbos because of marginal or bad turbine seals and also because of a restrictive oil drain. It's already settled and the car is already single turbo, as you can see in my other videos.

    Thanks

  • quick questiion, what kind of gasket did you use? thanks

  • I know all of what you have done, i know why ur smokin

  • i hope youre not in california, good luck getting past the stupind smog checks we have here! i hate them. Awsome svo!

  • nice

  • I really like this stang. Nice job.

  • i love those rims!

  • where did u get the rims and the tires what size are the rims and tires, how much did u get them for, i cant find any anywhere

  • wow. that thing is sexy.

i didnt know people modified the 2.3L engines in the mustangs...

but i must say. AWESOME JOB on the head.

  • No dice brosive,

back in the 80's ford made only a couple thousand if that of the SVO mustangs, Came stock with a turbo 4 cylinder and a forged bottom end.

  • well i must say, that was a good move that ford made. i do own a ford. but not hardcore into mustangs..

  • Nice job in the head swap. Sweet car!

  • cool but a mustang needs a v8 sound

  • Sorry you feel that way, but you know what they say about opinions...

  • I removed your reply to my comment because of the words you chose to use, I was being funny and I don't get easily offended, but some might not like the particular words you used in that last reply. Thanks for commenting though, and I'll have new videos up soon enough.

  • Volvo head through me...really good work man.

  • awesome....dont care its not a ford engine, this thing rocks it with the black on gold look...

  • It is a Ford engine. It only has a Volvo head on it designed by Ford. That's why it fits on a Ford engine.

Ford owns Volvo by the way.

  • Love the prestone bottle on the floor in the backseat. Leaking headgasket from too much boost? Nevertheless, righteous car brother.

  • First of all.... This car is sick! I was wondering what the advantage to the Volvo head swap is. How difficult is it to swap? Is it hard to tune?

  • hey, man, love your SVO. Done proper. I haaaate it when people take the 2.3 Turbos out and drop 5.0s in em. Dont get me wrong..I love 5.0s but the turbo 4 is just too cool to remove. I would love to see your ride runnin through the gears.

  • leaking oil

and that sounds disappears after a short while, i think it's the compressor's housing scratching against the little fan thingy

  • If the turbo fan is scraping against the housing then it needs new bearings and soon or the entire turbo could end up as a door stop.

  • unique car

  • oops! guilty of not reading the description before commenting. please accept my apology ;)

  • that exhaust doesnt look very good. exessive white exhaust smoke suggests antifreeze leaking into the combustion chamber.

  • Did you have to mod anything to put the twin cam head on

  • Turbo jim is right I had a drain problem untill I taped pan good luck..

  • Nice set up, try tapping the pan for the second drain. You shouldnt have anymore drain problems as long as your drains are 1/2"

  • wher did u get the wheels and how much?

    they are sweet!

  • Please check the CarDomain linked to in the video description for full details on the car.

  • See the video response for the next iteration (single turbo).

  • those wheels look dope on it

  • Thanks.

  • what turbo did you use when that turbo let go after you bought the car..i'd like to know more info on the exhaust sounds great..what muffler?..i had an 84 svo and i'm about to buy an 83 lx with a 2.3t swap

  • It has now been replaced with a header of my own design and construction and a 50 trim T4/T3 hybrid single. The 2.5" turbo outlet flares out to a 3.5" downpipe, goes through a minimal Dynomax Bullet 3.5" muffler, then splits to dual 3" tailpipes.

  • ever race any 5.0's with that thing?

  • Haven't had the chance yet :D.

  • I'm confused, are you downing me for buying this car from Hal? I paid Hal more than he wanted and I always tell people how much of it he did. I built the header and exhaust that's on it now (set aside the header and stuff he did for now), put in flywheel, clutch, various other improvements and now I have to pull the head. Hal is my friend and I don't know who you are. Get your facts straight before you shoot off your mouth.

  • i work with the guy that built this car from nothing... and it wasnt this guy on here he bought the car from my very close friend hal... CHEAPSKATE

  • you aren't on Turboford by any chance are you?

  • Yes, I go by John L.

  • LOL! Pushed oil into the housing. Sorry about that.

  • Thats weired! I had installed twin T25's on my Mustang and also had oil drain problems. I was using a Y for the drain, and never could get it right. One of the turbo's blew the seal on the exhaust side, and pushed exhaust into the housing. It didn't smoke though, cause I was using Synthetic oil, which does not burn like regular oil.

You should be using synthetic oil. However, I also switched over to a large single turbo with twin scroll plumbing.

  • I am using synthetic oil. Synthetic has a higher flash point than conventional but it still burns quite readily and I assure you that it makes smoke, as you can see. Sounds to me like you may not have been running an oil restrictor, BB T25s need an oil restrictor to reduce oil flow and pressure. The 50 trim single with my header is on there now and works fine, just need to get new video.

  • Yeah I was using the oil inlet restrictors. In my case, it had more to do with the speed of the drainage. For whatever reason, one turbo had the right of way in terms of drain, and caused the other turbo to back up or slow its drainage down..

I'm really loving my new setup. I'm good with one big single in twin scroll..

You have a nice stang though man! That 2.3L is sweet with boost.. How much can a stock 2.3L motor handle? Boost and HP..

  • How much boost just depends on how well the engine flows to begin with, so there's no set limit. Plenty of people have run at least 30 psi on a stock shortblock though. The shortblock can handle 400+ HP just fine.

  • hey,i got a 85 thunderbird turbo coupe, and i like to do that kind of work can you tell me what kind of head is that i like to do a good proyect on that car and leave it to my son so he can have a good time

  • Oil drain? If those(or one)turbos had good oil seals they wouldn't be doing that, either that or your using a turbo thats not meant to be in vacuum, ie. after the throttle body and it's sucking oil in threw the seals.

  • where did you get your turbo and what kinda mods?

  • beautiful job man 5*'s

  • How was the twin turbo set up? Did the exhaust from one turbo dump into the other and then exit? How did it run besides the smoke? Did the turbos spool well?

  • Wait...those are Twin cam heads...Cosworth?

  • volvo head swap.
