I like the effect of the closed-up eyes becoming lights in the dark, and then of Lugosi's eyes, and of her eyes wide open, very dramatic, theatrical; also, the shot of the zombies coming down the silouetted hill, like ants in the distance, very scary; these directors had few technical resources at their disposal but sure knew how to use a cammera to its maximum effect

Our local theatre called the Astor showed this film a few years ago when I was 18. I went with my father, who thought it would be deserted. Imagine his surprise when it was fully packed out! Goes to show people still remember these films, and why shouldn't they.

the mill see is great watch 11:07 best scene in any horror movie ever. i would love a whole movie based around that one scene. undead slaves used as equipment.
@estefez I have a friend who won't watch old black and white movies for similar reasons, a totally superficial approach to the movies. Good acting and brilliant script writing are all it takes, colour and audio are merely a means to an end which can be achieved on their own.
Thank you for posting this classic, torgosdrivein. The movie is very good, however in the background there's an annoying stattic which kinda makes it difficult to sometimes understand the actors.
PS I dont get people who use comment sections to argue about stupidities. Whats that got to do with the movie???
Anyway, again thank you for posting this. Would you mind also posting "Mark of the Vampire" and "Dracula's Daughter"? They're not on Youtube. Thanks. ;)
I used to own this movie from a Classic Horror DigiPak until it got weird white stuff on it that wouldn't come off and it got on all the movies. I had no idea you could upload an hour long film on YouTube. Thanks! I love to be able to watch it again :)
I'm the fag? I think your the fag who wastes his life trying to watch the longest video on Youtube and tell other people about it who don't even want to attempt to do something as pointless
No idiot i didn't complain about it being the longest video so shut up and second he called me a fag coz i said it's the longest video I'VE seen on youtube so shut up
At the scene 0:13:12 - 0:15:17 = it means me imagine of Faust making a pact with the Devil. Whereabouts Monsieur is "Faust" and Murder Legendre (the voodoo "priest") is the Devil. >XD!
At least Murder Legendre does sure look like the Devil himself. The appearance, the goatee, slick-back hair...he has it all!
The Monsieur has no idea about the prize he has to pay after the cause he has made! LOL!!
Thanks for posting! Weird that the sound is fuzzy... On DVD it sounds ok...O_o
The creator should re-release this on DVD. The sound is fuzzy, the picture needs to be remastered and th old DVD (which i have) does not have special features
Robert Cummings grandfather was a "Carnie"... You can read all about him in relation to the new album 'Educated Horses'.
And for those who are about to start typing: "He asked about Rob Zombie's grandfather, not Robert Cummings..." Don't start. I think you can see where I'm going with that...
My favorite Bela Lugosi film ever, I own all his films and am still searching for the more obscure. Bela Lugosi and Vincent Price are the only true stars of the silver screen.
I concur. It's an excellent old movie with lots of gothic, creepy imagery and of course, Bela Lugosi! But the sound quality leaves much to be desired. I had my speakers at full blast and still couldn't understand a damned thing. Good movie, nonetheless.
a great movie, all squeezed into one pixel.

Poor sound with these old films is par for the course.
It's like complaining of the pops and hiss of old Edison phonograph recordings.
You would feel robbed if the imperfections were NOT there.
Thanks for uploading this!

Why do people keep complaining about the sound? Do they think the original Dolby Digital HD recording got lost back in the 30's?
Plus an interesting thing about this movie is that much of it is shot as if it were a silent film, a remnant of the previous decade...

Rob Zombie's granDad directed this or produced this...
I was told this by someone in the industry.
I am still very skeptical...
In fact ,I find it down right proposterous,
Except for the source....
I know, stupid question, but does any one know if there is even a shread of truth to this???
