I like the effect of the closed-up eyes becoming lights in the dark, and then of Lugosi's eyes, and of her eyes wide open, very dramatic, theatrical; also, the shot of the zombies coming down the silouetted hill, like ants in the distance, very scary; these directors had few technical resources at their disposal but sure knew how to use a cammera to its maximum effect

Our local theatre called the Astor showed this film a few years ago when I was 18. I went with my father, who thought it would be deserted. Imagine his surprise when it was fully packed out! Goes to show people still remember these films, and why shouldn't they.

@estefez I have a friend who won't watch old black and white movies for similar reasons, a totally superficial approach to the movies. Good acting and brilliant script writing are all it takes, colour and audio are merely a means to an end which can be achieved on their own.

Thank you for posting this classic, torgosdrivein. The movie is very good, however in the background there's an annoying stattic which kinda makes it difficult to sometimes understand the actors.

I used to own this movie from a Classic Horror DigiPak until it got weird white stuff on it that wouldn't come off and it got on all the movies. I had no idea you could upload an hour long film on YouTube. Thanks! I love to be able to watch it again :)

The creator should re-release this on DVD. The sound is fuzzy, the picture needs to be remastered and th old DVD (which i have) does not have special features

I concur. It's an excellent old movie with lots of gothic, creepy imagery and of course, Bela Lugosi! But the sound quality leaves much to be desired. I had my speakers at full blast and still couldn't understand a damned thing. Good movie, nonetheless.
