  • They got some of the lyrics off.

  • Vocals are FLAWLESS. The guitar (while very nice) didn't feel like it belongs in the song (imho).

  • The problem with covering a song...

If you do a bad job, people hate you for it.

If you do a good job... Guess what. People still hate you for it.

But no matter what, this cover is fucking epic.

  • I like it..

  • interesting?

  • The problem with covering a song is that if you're not careful the artist tends to go off on a tangent and the song loses it's feel, hell this sometimes happens to the artist who created it. In this case the feeling has been kept. This song to me has always had an apocalyptic feel to it and this cover is no exception. Excellent job.

  • Of course the Floyd version is better - They're Pink fuckin' Floyd. But this is a great cover. It pays distinct homage to the original, with the synths, vocals and acoustic guitar; but also remembers to do something new with the tune. Every band should do a Pink Floyd cover. James Taylor could dominate 'Wish You Were Here', for example.

It's cool to hear the songs your favorite artists play when they aren't playing for money. Art isn't about duplication - it's about interpretation

  • wow

  • shame on you, ""shadows fall". I love metal but Floyd is Floyd

  • Who in there right mind would cover a pink floyd song and make it like this -___-

  • @blacksunshine3452 Anyone in their right mind would :)

  • @Disturbed43216 no this killed the song.

  • @blacksunshine3452 Well I'm sorry that you have a blatant inability to comprehend what makes good music. What are you looking for in a cover? An exact copy? Good covers expand on a song and take it in a new direction which is exactly what Shadows Fall did here. Appreciate this song for what it is as opposed to looking for the original. If you're looking for that then just go listen to the original which is awesome for totally different reasons than this cover.

  • AWESOME COVER

  • There cover of Bark at the moon is amazing as well.. Great band .Love how good band can pay homage to legends and remake such great tracks ..F the Haters

  • First time I heard this I shit my self in amazement and bought The Art of Balance andbeen a Huge SF fan since

  • awesome

  • Yeah, awesome!

  • Awesome Cover,,2 Thumbs Up !!! Another awesome cover is Wrathchild America doing Pink Floyd's "Time"...

  • nice cover...its a different way of view....but still the same hit!!

  • This is a FRK'N awesome cover of a Pink Floyd tune....just say'en

  • The metal guitars are a terrible fit, but it's a surprisingly decent cover otherwise.

  • If you like this song check out my band Born to Die just go over to my profile and look for the song called More Than Black and White!!!

  • hahahaha, How can you dislike this? I know, its Pink Floyd, its blasphemy. But seriously? And why is their guitarist a better vocalist than their main vocalist?

  • One of the best renditions I have ever heard of a song. They stayed true to the song and made it their own at the same time. Vocals are absolutely perfect. Friggin awesome. Really!!!!

  • I used to listen to this band until the war within album.. Then they became one with the whole NWOAHM scene and lost their identity but before that they were great...

  • wheres the gutterals?

  • The best pink floyd cover ever

  • @lfelipeval if you like this check out between the buried and me's cover of us and them :) AMAZINGGGGGGGG

  • You didnt like school and you know your nobodys fool....YES!

  • This version has a more... ominous feeling to it (besides being heavier) but still encases the same message

  • Surprisely, I like it a lot!

  • i feel like im sitting sideways. this is a good song here. haha.

  • not bad not bad still rather listen to the original though

  • I dont even know this bad, but I heard this cover one the radio and I just wantto say they did it justice.

  • @toxickatie dude wherever you live the radio must fucking kick ass! And Shadows Fall is the SHIT! Go look for some of their albums! PLEASE don't steal their music and at least buy this alum The Art of Balance it's fucing AMAZING! listen to the tracks Prelude to Disaster and A Fire in Babylon!

  • HEARD THEM AT RIVERBEND IN CHATTANOOGA LOVED IT!

  • Cover or not "Welcome to the Machine" > "Welcome to the jungle"

  • @DannyWGiles hahahahaha

  • This is AMWESOME!

  • WTF is this garbage It does not even compare to the original

  • @D1GEAR covers aren't suppose to. this is one person's/group of people's vision of the song. yes Floyd's is awesome but this is how Brian and the guys wanted to do it. So if you don't like it move along son

  • It's okay I guess.

  • i dont really like it, its a good song to cover though

  • great cover. it still has the feeling of the original , but the drums and guitar add a nice touch to it :)

touching a masterpiece like that and getting away with it ..... big kudos

  • Wow. Why do I like this? WHY DO I LIKE THIS? I LIKE THIS. I like the original and this cover. WHY? And I'm someone you really have to impress when I listen to a cover. This. Is good shit. I must listen to more of Shadows Fall, it seems.

  • this is absolutely awful. an absolute disgrace to the original. Dont get me wrong, i love black and death metal even over pink floyd. but shadows fall just shit all over this song. i mean, this was really terrible, i could get through rebecca black easier than this.

  • @666wickedjack Im probably one of the biggest Pink Floyd Fans ever, and i'm quite impressed.

  • @BFmajoroxMV Hm. I don't remember what you said originally. But what I said was a bitch-like comment.

  • if you don't know the right lyrics for the song you shut your mouth... IN THE FIRST RIFF THEY DONT SAY "WE TOLD YOU WHERE YOU BEEN... THEY SAID IT'S ALLRIGHT WE KNOW WHERE YOU BEEN...THEY SAY WE TOLD YOU WHAT TO DREAM IN THE SECONDE RIFF.... but keep on going your a good band annyway but please don't fuck up another pink floyd song

  • @DEADSHADOW777 Calm down troll.

  • i usualy hate covers, but this is excellent :-)

  • @esteban3527343 You saying that show you have no taste in music, this cover is really well done!

  • @BFmajoroxMV Haha. Says the person with BFMV in their name...

  • little error in the lyrics it is not we told you where you been,,,it is we know where you been but this version is kind of good not bad all

  • why do people who don't like covers torture us who do by going off AT LENGTH how 'No band in the world can even compare to the original...' The point of a cover is to show how much they love a song. not trying to be better. go fry a little more, i think you still have a couple brain cells still trying to work.

  • @TheMandosh Totally Right Dude

  • @TheMandosh Totally Right Dude

  • @TheMandosh

There have been some pathetic covers. I won't name names, but I will say this isn't one of them. We live in the age of the machine, chances are if you dislike this you are too caught up in that machine. You can't like the original and not, on some level, appreciate this cover. If you do, check yourself. It's likely too late and chances are you are lost to the machine. (sheep, lemmings, what have you)

  • there is no band in this world that can actually cover any pink floyd song and make a good job. Its simply impossible. This cover like any other pink floyd cover sucks.

  • hmm seems artistic

  • Pretty great cover.

  • sausage fest :S

    and a shitty cover...

  • Pink Floyd is my favorite band. I LOVE what Shadows Fall does to this song. This is one of my favorite covers of all time, and the style is so much different from the original. There's no point in covering a song note for note. Shadows Fall keeps just enough of the original sound and puts just enough of their own creative twist in it. I hate saying what others have already said in other comments, but, man, this is a good song!

  • there should have been more guitar riffs. Deff. not a great cover.

  • Who the fuck is pink floyd?

    Lol.

  • @Metal404Head you really don't know who pink floyd is and your name is METAL HEAD. Honestly? ok ok don't take as an insult. Pink Floyd is like the Beatles, any true rock fan knows.

  • @timsjets Anyone dumb enough to fall for that troll is just..... pants on head retarded.

    Kill yoursefl.

  • @Metal404Head My God, just... just leave

  • @TheFunkInfection It was a joke. I know damn well who pink floyd is.

Comfortably numb, the wall. Great fucking music man.

  • @Metal404Head lololol seriously? O_o

cha chink! MONEEYYYYYY, GET AWAYYYYYY GET A GOOD JOB AND YOU OOOOOOKAYYYYY

  • been a fan of pink floyd for several yrs now, love this fuckin song original and cover!!!!! well done sir(s).

  • This is an excellent version of a Floyd classic. This deserve recognition as a premier song for a die hard metal maniac and a true Pink Floyd. Not only do have all the Floy'd music since Saurcer Full of Secrets right up until Momentary Lapse of Reason but I also play their songs on guitar and keyboards. I'm thinking of self-producing my own version of this song.

  • i m a die hard pf fan n i don usually prefer covers .....i mean jus listen to wat korn did for another brick in the wall ?? but this one is pretty good ....SF did it good . thumbs up

  • I'm an avid PF fan, but this is pretty frickin' awesome. a totally wicked cover. very nice

  • if you guys like this one you'll love queensryche's cover

  • this is why cavemen chiseled (or painted. i forgot how it goes) on walls :D

  • this is my favorite version actually.... it might be because i heard this version first though

  • fucking die hard fans can die!!! i LOVE pink floyd but seriously, whats wrong with a band giving another band inspiration to cover one of their songs? damn people are lame

  • I never knew this was a cover until now.

I still find it a wierdly beautiful song.

  • imho this song is a shitty cover. not cause its metal and i dont hate shadows fall. but theres just way to much distortion and way to much noise. lost all the feeling that the original had.

  • the vocals sound so similar...sick cover altogether, being one of my favorite pink floyd songs they did some heavy justice to this.

  • I don't think they really made it their own. I like shadows fall, but this is kinda weak. It sounds too much like the same arrangement. You mention Hendrix, but his version was a total remake.

  • I think this is a good band covering a great song, but its not exactly on my list of top covers. The power of the original Floyd version is the stillness and how it gently lulls you into oblivion. This cover is just a bit too busy for me I guess. I give Shadows Fall all the credit in the world though for putting thier own unique spin on a classic song.

  • Pretty Good Cover , But I think Queensryche's Version is much better , being a fan of both Pink Floyd and Queensryche , but to be honest this cover is good :-)

  • It's pretty good i think, to be fair they have put their obvious spin on it, if you guys like this then you should check out their cover of bark at the moon by ozzy osbourne, thats immense

  • eh... its all right i guess, i still think the acoustic original is far superior but hey, its a cover, and therefore meant to be different. I guess the biggest thing this cover lacks is the overwhelming amount of synthisizer in the original.

  • Honestly, it's not TERRIBLE. But, I feel like something's missing. That's just me, though.

  • @VirtuousxOne

    Pretension?

  • @VirtuousxOne synthesizers > guitar

on this song at least, thats what :/

  • @thedysthymic eh but their use of guitars made it a little different than the original, in a good way. :)

  • Queensryche's cover is best.

  • @paintedpirate As if nirvana were metal...

  • I am a massive Floyd/Gilmour fan and I think this is an awesome cover!

  • i love shadows fall but this cover does not do justice for the original this sounds like shit

  • queensryche version owns it big time.. to be honest SF failed

  • this is very well done! i speak on behalf of many floyd fans and will say that this song deserves praise...

  • this is very well done!

  • amazing cover.

  • It's very very rare that a cover of a song is better than the original. You gotta give them credit for trying their best, and it's not because it sounds bad...at all...it's a great cover. But then again they also tried to cover a song made by one of the greatest rockbands of all time. Every rock, metal, hardcore etc band today is buildt up by one thing. Pink Floyd.

  • If it weren't for this cover, I would have never discovered Pink Floyd. Quit hatin' old farts, this cover sounds great!

  • my wife and I are both floyd fans, but I am a metalhead...NIRVANA

  • @paintedpirate

dude, floyd is awesome but never follow up "but i am a metalhead" with "NIRVANA". Thats grunge. And it isn't even grunge metal like Alice in Chains(awesome). Nirvana is Grunge rock. Don't get me wrong, i love Nirvana but Bleach is the closest thing to metal they have yet so far away from it.

  • why do they make thi s song metal? i think gilmour and waters will not like it. eeeeeeh rick turns in grave

  • we all know the original is better, its a god damn legend but i didn't watch this video to hear a better then original cover of a Floyd song because that does not happen. what i wanted to hear was a good cover of a song i love and thats what i got

  • awesome! I am a huge pink floyd fan, just got linked to this by a mate. Damn good cover. Its hard to cover someone like Pink Floyd and do it well but these guys nailed it.

  • This is actually fucking awesome. Usually I hate covers, but they stuck to the true sound of the original, yet made it their own. The perfect formula for a good cover.

  • For everyone who just loves to bitch about bands adding their own flavor on cover songs..... Let's see what you can come up with since your musical expertise far supersedes all other talent. Because i'm sure half of the critics on this page can't even play a tambourine. If this cover is SO shitty, then do something about it. But if not, shut your cock holsters!

  • I really like this. It stays true to the original but at the same time they add their own element. Great work!

  • ya know i am a die hard fan and i really like it. music isnt about sounding the same its about finding a way around the actual song and making it your own. smoke a joint and find a way to appreciate music from different angels

  • Pink Floyd is by far one of my favorite bands and i just recently started listening to Shadows Fall and I can honestly say that this is a damn fine cover that Pink Floyd should Appreciate!

  • Thumbs up if u think the original WTTM is better

  • Comment removed

  • Maybe it's cos I'm baked or cos I'm retarded, but this just sounds like the original with an added chuggy guitar riff thrown in. Not that I don't like it, but did Shadows Fall add anything apart from the aforementioned guitar line?

  • @gaahl2172

well yeah, not did they just add in a heavy metal, "chuggy guitar riff" but they remade the entire song. I believe the main singer is one of their guitarists though, who is better than their lead vocalist. But I do think that the lead singer is doing the lower vocal part. Also Between the Buried and me do a decent cover of Us and Them, but what is decent when it's Pink Floyd to begin with, you can't touch that shit.

  • That's bad-ass........

  • Great job

  • @wumpscuto

    u mad?

No need to be butt hurt about it. No reason to get mad at bands who decide to do covers. Just let go man, they did this to respect Pink Floyd and their greatness. I am pretty sure Pink Floyd influenced a lot of bands, including Shadows Fall. There is no comparsion, Pink Floyd's verison is miles better than this cover. But you need to respect that it is a cover.

As both a Pink Floyd fan and a Shadows Fall fan, I throughly enjoy this cover.

  • It sounds better acoustic but it's amazing...

I don't know if I'm just an SF fanboy or what but...

This is one of the few Pink Floyd covers I've actually liked...

I mean this is a SHIT LOAD better than KoRn's cover of Another Brick In The Wall

  • @maggottilthegrave666

To be honest i like KoRn's version.

To bo honest once again, i saw this cover and thought to myself "I'm slightly afraid to click on this", As i am not a huge fan of this band. I was pleasantly surprised. The cover is different. Nothing compared to PF, but it is clear it is not trying to be. They slight change of tempo and rhythm arrangements compliment the song, not detract from it.

    Good on them

  • @maggottilthegrave666 \

I like korn but yea i really didnt like korns cover lol

  • @NurseEri The song just translates horribly into that style...

  • @maggottilthegrave666 no lie, I LOVE pink Floyd, but I like this one much better

  • @maggottilthegrave666 have a look at this /watch?v=yAhg4ntJ2Iw it's velvet revolver playing wish you were here. it's one of the best covers I've heard of it.

  • very strong!

  • very strong, man!!! I like it very much!

  • Nice I like where they took it. No insult to Floyd in anyway

  • I love metal, but I love original more because it hast that true deep acoustic guitar sound. This cover is good, better this than some pop singer remakes it into total crap.

  • Don't cry because pink floyd had one of their songs covered. and in my opinion the lyrics sound pretty similar to the original version.

  • boring

  • @wumpscuto They found their own way a long time ago, I guess they are covering a so ng to pay tribute to a song they like, now suck it up and get over it. It's called freedom of expression.

  • @YouTuble13567 Whats that u like dick?

  • @xfatexfatalx it's his opinion. even though it's not the truth, he has the right to expres his opinion

  • I think the problem, for me, is not that the band put their own spin on the song, but that they didnt put enough of themselves into it; it didnt sound like they gave 110%, something that Pink Floyd deserves. Sad because their Bark at the Moon cover kicks major ass, so I know they can do it!

  • lol...those that try to say something about the "riff" don't know jack about music...that "riff" makes this song...it puts a darker spin on it...if you don't see that, then you can just go f yourself...douches!

  • @swatson28 The riff doesn't make it darker in any way. Try listening to both songs, with headphones on in the dark. The Floyd version will probably send you in a brief insanity. While this, is just an okay rock song, with the excellent lyrics of Pink Floyd.

  • very nice cover....I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan...and this is done very nice...love the downtuned guitar....perfect!!

  • How about until ALL of you bitching about what they hsould of done in this song and what they shouldnt have done go LEARN to play a instrument and get in a band first before you think have enough credibility to put your 2 cents in. No body cares what ANY of you think.

  • Yea it is pretty lifeless... the vocals need mo-swing. He's too focused on the actual beat of song as opposed to the relation of the vocal line in relation to the original parts. This is disappointing because he has the voice to make a near-perfect cover :*(

  • Eh, the chugging guitars really don't work for me. A doom metal cover of this seems like it'd work well.

  • fail. . . . .nuff said

  • I didn't like it... I think that the orchestration is poor and the overdriven guitars don't have anything special to propose... It lacks the atmosphere of the original (these guitars crush everything under them) and the "over-pronounced" rhythm pattern makes it boring.

  • LAME!

  • This is as good of a remake as a John McCain "HOPE" poster.

  • As a Pink Floyd fan first and a Shadows Fall fan second, I can definitely say I approve. They took it and put their own spin on it. That's what a cover should be.

  • To me, a great cover. They make it sound just as mechanical as Pink Floyd's did, and while they lose a bit of the acoustic sound that made Floyd's so good, it is still a good cover.

  • Love PF and think this is a good cover.

    Just a different style.

  • This cover would have gained a bit more respect from me if it weren't for that horrible riff they tried to put in. That's gotta be one of the worst attempts at riff-writing I've ever heard.

  • @NativeMetalVT

Can't agree more, that riff is pointless and just sort of ruins the ambience, they should have just left the acoustic guitar and synth.

  • I see a lot of die hard Pink Floyd fans offended by this remake. Why? The best true musicians can cover a song they love and figure out a way to make it their own. No one Cries about Hendrix remaking Dylan's All Along the Watchtower. So what is it. animosity that some metal band 40 years later covered a "sacred" song. I applaud Shadows Fall for this. And any music lover should as well. I'm sure Roger Waters loves it. And He'd be the only one allowed to bitch. So for all the Haters, cry about it!

  • @SethFailsafe420 yeah dude a real musician would applaud them for this!!!

  • @SethFailsafe420 we dont complane about hendrix because he did ut good

  • im sorry but you CANNOT do this to a pink floyd song!

  • @Mikeymoomah

    why?

Shadows Fall covered an awesome song and made it heavier and with their own sound, i actually prefer this version, but the original is awesome too

  • @Mikeymoomah yup!

  • this band scks no flair no jam nothing to head bang to fail this is to ever emos

  • @joshualapointe

this song isnt to headbang cause its a cover of the origianl Pink Floyd song which isnt metal, but its great nontheless

  • who cares about metallica, we aren't listening to metallica are we? no. this is a cover of fucking pink floyd. shut the hell up people and listen and love the music you have. this is all fucking pure talent.

  • @mrsfuckyourself how is it talent when they didnt even make up this song themselves?pink floyd actually sat down and invisoined this music and created it while shadows fall tried redoing it their own but failed

  • @beastialityisfunny

i dont think they failed at all, if you prefer Pink Floyds style of music more than metal i guess you probably think their version is better, but although i like and really respect Pink Floyd and Welcome to the Machine is one of my fav songs from them, i prefer Shadows Fall version, its an amazing cover

but the original is always the best cause its the right way to play the song, but Shadows Fall made a cover of this song with their own sound, and thats what makes it great

  • very nicely done

  • wow awesome cover! ♥

  • OMFG A BAND THAT DOES GOOD COVERS!

  • Oh my god...
