Apple uses the process of "Planned Obsolescene". It's related to marketing. It's a good strategy to get Apple consumers to keep buying the next latest iPod even though the one the constomer has already is still practical and functional. This is the reason why Apple comes out with a new Ipod or touch every 8 to 11 months.

ive had the ipod mini for about 4 years now and after about the 3rd year, it started to really SUCK. i would charge it for 3 effing days and then after i would listen to it for about 20 min, it runs out of battery.
