I sympathize with their struggle, however, the trashy language takes away from the message. I do not doubt that these are competent, intelligent, socially aware students, and I understand their frustration. Read, read and read so can learn to better enunciate your demands. Students, you under huge scrutiny and you must be impeccable in order to succeed.
I didn't notice a lot of trashy language, apart from 3 or 4 swear words, but I felt that those helped to emphasize the point. The first young woman who spoke, especially, was pretty articulate.
I am way impressed with the way students are taking ownership of their education and telling the schools administration, including a Black principal, that school repression is not acceptable. I really have issues with Uncle Tom teachers who try to silence the student voice. Shame on you Jordan High School. If it wasn't for radical thinkers and activist some of your students would remain passive thinkers. I think that Ms. Salazar is the standard of what consciousness building looks like.
I listen and give respect to a person who is healthy and doesn't have to cuss in a conversation. Who shows discipline in their habits and who gives respect to themselves and others. I do not agree with you. It is not 'the establishments' fault because you do not have discipline or manners.
This is not church and frankly I don't care about your Christian Right views. This is a social problem created by administrators. If you read my message I did not use profanity so if you chose not to listen to me then move on child.
I have a teacher named ms. Salazar.. .But i dont think thats her, Wait is it her?

Maybe if she taught a little less politics and a little more english, she could have kept her job.
Maybe she should apply for a job as a guidance counselor?

Do you have a problem with William Shakespeare, J.D. Salinger, Tony Morrison, and Maya Angelou using "trashy language" to convey a message?

feels real good to see the youth becoming more active and conscious against oppressive mentalities.
