@MsAntonio925 If I said it once,I said it a million times...the LanceR is the Soviet Fishbed with a more powerful engine and all the electronic part changed,after the F-16 Block 40.This was done after a common Romanian-Israeli project between Aerostar Bacau (ROM) and Elbit Systems (ISR)

the arrow is the pitot tube which receives total pressure of air(total pressure=dinamic pressure+static pressure) it is needed for the altimeter,anemometer,and vertical speed indicator(variometer).It has nothing to do with heading(hdg) and they are showed on the hud as istograms and as analogic "clocks" on the instrument panel.

Problema se pune totusi altfel, pentru potentialul si puterea de comparare a Romaniei in contextul ei politic actual Mig-ul a fost o alegere buna si probabil s-au facut pasi importanti de catre cei inplicati in modernizare si am inteles de ce, pentru ca era al nostru, dar acum sa cumperi avioanele altora folosite e putin cam aiurea indiferent ale cui' sunt. @6digit That arrow or "lance" is the one that sends all the parameters of the plane in your HUD like altitude,speed,HDG and many others

@OpelGTC I think you will find that the only thing that "lance" or arrow does is measure dynamic pressure. From that you get airspeed. Nothing else.

From 110 mig-21 modernized sinde 1993 until today we have less than 50 (10 crash) .

We are one of the few countries still using this soviet planes ....

To bad YAR95 program never ended :(

Bulgaria and Serbia use MiG-21 Fishbed

Croatia uses semi-LanceRs (modernised in our country,at Bacau Aerostar)

We are the only ones in Europe who use this kind of modernised aircraft,and it's performing quite well.

But I think they only doing that offer because Brazil has buyed planes from France .

No offset. So what I'm saying is that it's better to buy new ones. With offset.

Romania's Aerostar has various upgrades for the Mig-21 such as MIL STD 1553B avionics system, full HOTAS controls, multifunction display screens, a new HUD and a DASH helmet, Martin-Baker ejection seat, and a one-piece wrap-around windscreen. Also a Elta EL/M-2032 pulse-Doppler radar. It will no longer be dependent on ground control. The money saved instead of buying new aircraft is truly enormous. This agile little fighter is now fully the equal of many 4th generation western fighters.
