What is the advantage of a gear splitter on a muscle car? Just curious, if anyone has any idea why it would be appropriate on a performance car rather than a truck that is using the in between gears to get more rpm's out of each gear increasing the torque. Does it improve gas mileage? Does it improve performance as far as top speed?..I doubt that... but I have no clue, thats why Im asking?

@theeebest well, what it does is you can run nice gears in the rear end, say 3.92:1 or 4:10 :1 for huge straight line acceleration, and then engage over drive, and bring the revs down out on the highway so you get something more than 8 or 9mpg.

@vVulle Listen more closely next time. Yes, it's a torqueflite, but with the mods it doesn't shift automatically anymore. The trans itself is a 3-speed and with the aftermarket overdrive, which can be engaged with any gear, it's essentially a 6-speed forward, 2-speed reverse setup.

My fav. douche bag was in town and he didn't call? Thank god for small favors.  Really though, J.F. did a review of the TT-RS on Tail of the Dragon. Roy could have upstaged him by driving from Milpitas to Modesto over Mt. Hamilton highway 130. I would have driven him in my A3 S-Line DSG and insulted him the entire time for free. You could have gone Corral Hollow Rd/Patterson Pass stopping at Altamont Raceway where 24 hours of LeMons runs and bypassed Lawrence Lab completely. LOL! :)
