My 81 year-old father has Alzheimer's and is dying of cancer. He is confused, he's in a lot of pain, and is on lots of morphine. He was so miserable with his Alzheimer's that in a way, I'm a little grateful he got cancer. I'm sorry for him that he's in pain, but his existence has been frustrating and depressing for him, he has nothing ahead of him in this life, and I'm hoping that he'll experience a wonderful peace when he goes.
