  • Pure, unadulterated soul and class............never before and never again in our life times.....

I'm glad that I was around to enjoy the Godfather of Soul...........saw him and the band in Atlantic City in the 1980s.........

    RIP.........

    Steve

  • So sick. Amazing when the song kicks in at 2:09. Sends chills down my spine.

  • cosbey show memories

  • This was James at his best! He was in Boston, less than 24 hours after the death of MLK. Blacks were rioting across the nation and they didn't want James to perform for fear that he would incite a riot but James convinced them otherwise. He wanted to perform because he felt he could help unify the city with his music. He put on a classic performance that helped keep the peace in Boston and paid the highest tribute he could pay to the slain leader.

  • He was possessed...James Brown was tapped into some other kind of reality...

  • When horns were REAL, when music was REAL, not some MF spinning a turntable makin a bunch of bullshit noise

  • Nobody dares to diss the godfather. Could be hazardous for one's health. This one's a rout. 37 Funk! Mr. Nose Devoid of Funk 0!

  • the beat is crazy... trying to figure out the timing on it.. gee.. awesome performance..

  • @peachstealingmonkeys yeah, starks throwns in a lot of off beats and a huge funk swing, but it all begins and ends on the 1 baby. It's like the same concept as reggae beats, but funk. All on the off beat yet throbs right out front. It's also the same beat concept that has driven the culture of "drum n bass" for 20 years now. Hook- and - sling

  • I think this show was at the Boston Arena, not the Boston Garden
