The best i can figure why this works, is that plasma screens are literally electrically charged liquid filled machines, that when a certain frequency of electricity is applied, color and brightness is obtained, and the black lines is due to a blockage of sorts. The smacking is crude, but works in that what he was doing is basically causing the electricity to become unblocked, either with the wiring acting properly, or just making the liquid actually react to the charge.

@phoenixrisinghigh What you're talking about is an LCD - liquid crystal display, not a plasma. And even LCDs have a more sophisticated working principle.. Plasma uses gas ionization to produce miniature electric "sparks". This was most probably to a faulty or broken connection to the controller connector on the edge of the panel. It might have been solved by the beating and the conductors reconnected, but it may also be just temporary and it obviously is elegible for a warranty claim.

I FIX TVs- check out my channel, this tv in the video has either bad inverter board or ribbon cables connected to inverter to the plasma screen its self has a bad connection, so when he hits it there he is vibrating the ribbon cable where it is attached to the tv screen, this would fix it for a while but come back, and could last up to a year. To fix this TV would cost over $200 so it won't be worth it. So bang away till you can buy another LG, samsung or Panasonic are best!

Funny, that really should fix the TV. The problem likely was some bad soldering. So bending them into place with some blunt force should fix it, however I would be worried about breaking the gas seal on the pixels.

This genuinly works, my plasma used to have a black line down the middle, i fixed that the proper way by retouching the solder joints, but recently another black line has apeared to the left, i tryed repairing it the same as before but no luck so now i just punch below the line and it goes away for a couple hours.
