Explain this: When this swing set is put under a tent, blocking ANY wind, the swing doesnt move. If its a ghost making it swing, it would swing if it was under a tent or not. (To say the "ghost" didnt like the tent, I guess we could get rid of ghosts by putting haunted things under tents!)

i highly doubt it's the wind as the wind is entirely too unpredictable to produce simple harmonic motion which result in oscillations of the swing, i believe it's the kid at the edge of the swing, giving the entire swing set the slightest of nudges at a frequency equal to that of the resonance frequency of the swing set resulting in the shm (simple harmonic motion) of the center swing. it's my best (logical) guess.

I find it amazing that people are that dumb to post that it's the wind. I don't think the swing is moving because of a ghost, mind you. But if it was the wind then when the seat swung back we'd see the seat decelerate sharply (due to the same force - wind - that moved it in the first place). Now, that's not happening. Additionally, we don't see the other seats moving likewise. And third, and most importantly, if the wind was that strong the sand on the playground would be picked up.

I have a kite that shape, perfect for catching the wind, also unstable without a tail. The motion of the swing is identical to the kite. The other swings could be creating vortex conditions that the middle swing reacts to.
