are you retarded? tapping the tank wont make it move it will probably do the opposite!!!!! id love to see u mess around like that with a faster species lol
Well, now you know thaat Haplopelmas tend to be feisty (prolite word for maniac). But you seriously need to educate yourself. This is no "he", and many Asian species, including the Haplopelmas, need deep substrates if they're going to thrive. Sure, you won't see them much, but then you should just get another species. Arrange the terrarium accordingly, or don't keep them!
@axelroach you do realise sometimes its unavoidable ..especially dealing with aggressive tarantulas .. perhaps the best thing to do was to just leave the tub in there until the spider calmed down .. which i think in the end they probably decided to do ..
I was like "wait for it, any minute now that mother fucker will come out, any minute now" to tell you the truth its a pretty spider and yeah aggressive tarantulas are so much more fun xD they make my adrenalin go up!!! XPPP
i had one of these for several years. very beautiful but quite aggressive. tried to pick up once it gave me tyhe full view of its fangs and i decided nah not a good idea
@lgdarespermy123 Have both a Chilean Flame-Hair and a Mexican Red-Rump... but there's something about the more aggressive tarantulas that's just more interesting.
@lgdarespermy123 Speak for yourself. I have a chilean Rose Hair... I've heard they're not aggressive but dayem, mine counts anything that goes into her little terrarium as food. Except me. She likes me enough to give me about half a second of warning.
@lgdarespermy123 Birdspiders are not for holding, they are solitary animals without any social mechanisms. I your post is a year old but im bored at my work at the moment =)
@lgdarespermy123 I have one of these, plus 3 other Haplopelmas, and even though this one is is the most agressive, I have held all of them, and the rest of them are frendlier than my Mexican Red Knee. They are not so much aggressive, as they are skittish and deffensive. But if you get them comfortable they actually can be quite friendly. I have been thumped by my red knee and all of my rosies, but never my OBT or my Cobalt blue. Never been bit though, and I hold every one of my 30 spiders.
@Davkuy hey dude if you hold your old world tarantulas, please post your videos so we could see and believe that you handled them with ease, if it's friendly than a mexican red knee then show us of your videos... that's pretty cool... :O
@lgdarespermy123 why do you want to handle a T? does it make you look bad ass? the T will be more stressed out if you hold it they are creatures to look at, you have to see the beauty of them and if you cant do that without handling, you might be better off with a cat or a dog or hamster..
@ProjectProvidence wow scary type dude, love to have one too... tarantulas here in philippines is very popular too... but i could not dare to handle that i heard that it has a very dangerous venom than most of the tarantulas like the indian ornamental...
If you haven't already take that sponge out of there. If it gets mold it can kill your T. FYI. Love that tarantula. Looks awesome! I prefer the mean and fast ones.
I dunno I prefer a bigger spider as a pet... it's the small ones I would probably worry about. Of course if you're gonna get a big spider as a "pet" it's always better to get something you can handle. The one in this video was strictly for display only.
I cannot tell if that's a Longipes or a Vonwirthi (aka Sp Vietnam). They are both high-strung and extremely defensive. My female Longipes damn near gave me a heart attack once and the Vonwirthi are pretty nasty too! Great lookin' T you have!
Good video--added it to my favorites. this species is a burrower by nature though, so adding a great deal of substrate (6-8 inches maybe) would make her more comfortable. They don't like being out in the open, and terrarium maitennance would go much smoother--although you'd have to rehouse her to do this---yikes!
Thanks for the tips. This was our first time working with a burrower. The tank wasn't exactly what we had planned but it was meant to just hold her temporarily. Rehousing does sound like fun; but also alot of risk, LOL. If we do we'll be sure to post up more footage. Thanks for watching!
Yes, it indeed a "Vietnamese Tiger Rump". Unfortunately most Old World tarantulas from Asia are sold in pet stores and randomly labeled "Thai Tigers" without actually giving the name of the species itself.
I believe the Haplopelma Longipes is venomous, though you won't find much info online. I've heard the bite is extremely painful, on the same level as a Cobalt Blue, and comparably worse than a wasp sting.
LOL We know, we know. We're just used to handling New World Tarantulas only. This is one of the first Old World Tarantulas we got, and we just didn't know what to expect.
Compared to our Mexican Red Rump, Chilean FIre-Hair, and Emperor Scorpion, this guy is quite a handful, though very fun to own.
Thats bad ass!!

...Live and learn, lol!
She (?) is a beautiful creature though--especially striking for an earth tiger and seems quite large! Again, wonderful video.
