My root canal (#3 tooth) landed me a bladder infection with a dangerous enterococcus bacteria. My physician was highly concerned. I chose to have my root canal extracted. The infection cleared up within 4 days. Earlier, my physician was warning me if I do not continue on antibiotics I could easily end up hospitalized.
