Great song and Mike sings it well. I just have to wonder why they're playing it at a SAMMY HAGAR show. Sam needs to get out from DLR's shadow, not further under it.
Heh, that's pretty funny. I'm not a Sammy hater, but freely admit that everything he's done post-VH has been pure shit. I also missed Mike on the recent tour concert I saw (Toronto's second October show). Ed's kid is good, but he's not Mike. Ah well, be happy for what we got, I guess.
That's exactly my point and why these imposter's (Sammy fans!) who claim to be die hard VH fans always bagging VH and disrespecting his son Wolfie who's fit in just nicely!! I've got more respect for the way Wolfie (only 16 years old!) has handled it all and did'nt try to be a Mike clone. I too was sad that Mike's not there, but there are always 2 sides to the story.
In a strange kind of way, I understand their (Sammy fans!) bitterness now, because the truth hurts them. Plus they realized that their only form of entertainment is cruise ships, Cabo Wabo and casino's. On the other hand it's business as usual at VH headquarters, new music & bigger tour's!! But most important is the ultimate power duo in Eddie and Dave back together making and performing new music!! And the've got that look about them, VH have become MIGHTY VAN HALEN!!!!
As you say, 'bagging' Wolfgang isn't necessary. If you want to blame anyone for Mike's absence, blame Ed.
What new music are you speaking of? Has there been talk of a new album or single? That's the most vital thing they need to do right now, is release some new music so they aren't seen as just a reunion cash grab but as a new and relevant band again.
Ed said as far back as 2002, they have enough new material for 3 albums. Dave even said they got together about 2001 and wrote some spectacle new music!! Even Mike said he was jamming and recording with Ed & Al on new material, soon after Gary Cherone left the band. You got to get this through to your head "It's not a REUNION!" you can say it's a reunion with Dave being back with VH, but that's as close it is to a reunion. It's a NEW BAND!!
They (VH) as much as you and I are itching to get the new material recorded and released, but I think they just want to get Wolfie "road-ready" and get the experience needed for the band. He's passed the test I think from the first couple of shows, don't ya think? The last thing VH want to do for the fans is the disastrous 2004 reunion, it almost killed Eddie!!
I enjoyed the 04 show I saw in Toronto, but yeah, apparently the tour nearly killed him, alcoholic-wise. No doubt, Wolf played well and sang reasonably well, but he has yet to develop any stage presence whatsoever. Watching him play in dark clothes on the stage in TO, it was like there was a black hole on the stage. You forgot he was even there at times. He nearly killed the momentum of Unchained during the the slow part. That has to worked on.
Michael Anthony is an excellent background vocalist, but I'm not wild about him singing lead. As much as Sammy slammed Dave and didn't want to do the Dave era stuff, it's awful funny that he's having Michael Anthony do a Dave tune on a non Van Halen tour. I guess he knows people rather hear that than that Waborita stuff he's been doing.
This looked like a fun gig!

Why do you think Sammy never gets a tan? Because he is and always will be under Diamond David Lee Roth's SHADOW!!!!!!!!!!
Here is your proof, he's using Mikey to play some Roth/VH era songs to get his party REALLY GOING. It the oldest rule in the cover bands book!!!!!!!

Yeah, dude, I know and accept that. I've never not accepted that, but the press are calling it a reunion all the time.
