Definitely the trademark hand for poker, Rounders immortalized it. Seidel is a fantastic player although despite all of his success I feel he will be remembered more for this hand and falling for Chan's beautiful trap than anything else. When Chan sees Erik shoving in the corner of his eye it was like a lion seeing prey walk right into his den. Fucking awesome.
This is real poker idk whats happening but the wso is becoming commercialized with all the ads and wtf is up with players having fans come to see the match....
What I dont get is that when all the pros and poker commentators talk about this hand, they say that Chan checked 3 times which he didnt !!! He bet the flop called a raise checked the turn then called the river shove. Strange shove on the river by Seidel, his hand had huge showdown value anyway i thought hed have check called. Was he trying to get paid off by middle pair or something ?
Seidel just made a bad play on the river; he was younger and less experienced then, and happened to be playing one of the greatest ever at the peak of his powers. The pot was pretty big anyway; he probably figured the shove would let him take it down. In heads-up, Chan could very well have called with middle pair anyway. It just so happens that he had the nuts.
