Ferrets that are trained not to bite too hard are wonderful pets, but like any animal they can be dangerous if mistreated or extremely frightened. They have deceptively strong jaws. My ferret "Nip" bit me so hard on the throat when she was a kit that she drew blood in 4 places. That's just from a kit who was playing with me and she was the runt of the litter. A fully grown male could cause serious damage.
