hey chris..........why not get hold of the slot pipee and advise him his choice of reel in his msr is rubbish....(reply)....sorry okatoman im to scared to,,,,,i say no more
chris get your head out if your arse.....mrs mac was written by a true legend....please have respect for him at least,,,,u are making yourself look very imature and foolish,,,,have not seen many of your reel composition of late...better still why not show us your talents and put a vid of yourself playing on youtube......see ya f face
ask gordon walker what hed play twice at the glenfiddich..im sure hed pick mrs mcpherson..before ugly marion...and prob dora mcleod as well...ur a wanker...and ur invited to a debate on this..do you accept lol
i just spoke to gordon walker today...and his opinion is that mrs mac is one of the best tunes he's ever played..and its won him loads of prizes but thanx for the description of yourself and i quote ''airy-fairy, boring, monotonous, tedious, gay, insipid, uninteresting''...i dont wank any more..im too busy shaftin ur maw up the arse lol
In addition to this I would like to point out for your other "great" tunes you have clearly just regurgitated an arbitrary grade one program and picked out some reels that the "big bands are playing". I fail to see how this awful deformation of character of this wonderful tune is even worth mentioning.
take it your a drummer then??? only a half witted drummer would even mention pretty marion in the same sentence as mrs mcpherson...pick the ''clinkers'' from ur erse..cause thats where ur talkin from pal..away and take up the piccolo
Mrs Mac is one of the finest tunes ever written IMHO. Most tunes sound good on a well set pipe/corps with good lift etc. Example: Strathclyde MSR, 1989 - possibly the best break to a reel ever, and the best rendition of this fine tune. Bands don't play it because its easy, let me tell you that (it isn't). They play it because it has fantastic structure and melody.

I'm not implying that I think it's easy; I just think it's rubbishy. It's monotonous. It just stays in the upper range, the higher notes, and the parts sound too much like each other. I'd LOVE to hear what tunes you DON'T care for, if you regard Mrs Mac as "one of the finest tunes ever written". Do you not like ANY tune? Or are they ALL "fine tunes" just because the big bands play them? There are a number of very popular tunes that I think should rightly be considered "clinkers", IMNSHO.
RE: "monotonous" and "all top hand" What? Have you ever played "Ca' the ewes"? Also a fantastic tune, but featuring a very repetitive series of bars throughout the tune. Thoughts? Also I think a further in depth analysis of Mrs. A. MacPherson of Inveran is required to help us, the educated piping fraternity understand your somewhat misguided small minded take on the matter.

The drum scores are fantastic. They are cool, and they fit the tunes spot on well. The band had me in its grip - great expression and sound - until the reel. Toward the end of "The Islay Ball" I was praying not to hear "Mrs MacPherson of Inveran," which is an airy-fairy, monotonous, boring piece, and has fucked up many a good MSR in terms of musical enjoyability. It just sucks; I'm sorry. ANYthing but "Mrs Mac" -- hell, even "The Brown Haired Maiden". Sorry. Otherwise it's great.
tartancam,
Yes Mrs Mac is one of the of the finest tunes but's it's the way it's played that's counts

You're certainly entitled to your opinion when it comes to arm-chair judging but let's keep the comments a bit more tasteful, shall we?
