  • ahh memories....it used to scare the crap out of me :$ :D

  • I feel that this game is interesting, but very flawed. The audio is terrible. The absence of music throughout most of the game makes it seem dull, and the sound effects are horrid, especially the tauntaun breathing. The sound recordings/voices are good though.

  • OMG, wait.. you can save your Tauntaun?

Back to that days when I was playing this game, it was soo sad to leave him, because I didn't realize he can jump high too!

  • que graficos lindos pro nes!!!

  • Good video. I am one of the non-fans of this game. I liked NES Star Wars and loved all the SNES SW games. In addition to its difficulty, there was something about the game's look and the sound effects that bothered me. Still, it's nice to watch someone play that figured out everything.

  • i used to play this allll the time. i liked the AT-AT level- and the force power screen the music was the best part i think

  • i used to play this allll the time. i liked the AT-AT level- and the force power screen

  • The SNES version of ESB put this to shame.

  • one of my favorite games, too.

  • One of my favorite games. Your vids have seriously helped me out with this game. I don't really understand why people think this game is so bad. Sure, it isn't perfect, but what game is?

  • @QuiteWellAdjusted I did not like the game at first, but I wasn't sure why. I just shrugged it off as boring. Then the Super Star Wars trilogy on SNES was announced and I was hungry for a Star Wars game so I gave it another try and ended up loving it. The problem is that people try to play it like an action platformer which it is not. It didnt help that the first NES SW game was an action platformer. pniner is right when he says the levels are metroid-lite, another game I didn't like at first.

  • Riding that Taun Taun looks fun :D

Also, that's really cool that they put an easter egg in there (not a whole lot of console games did that, in my experience)

  • 1:56

    Cows go "MOOOO!"

  • love the style of your vids, brother. its simple and straightforward. you provide a gamer with all the details and info they need, and refrain from unwarranted commentary, insertion of annoying visual graphics, etc.

  • It's almost the worst game I've ever played

  • i love this game, i never beat it :(

  • Luke!

    cows go moo!

  • I really wanted this game when I was a youngster. I finally got a copy of the GameBoy version years later, but it really would have rocked to have a NES copy too.

  • 4give me but this game really does suck. I've beaten it twice and I still don't like it. The first Star Wars game on NES was better than this one IMHO.

  • it is a cool game, love it

  • can you play as han solo 'cause he is my favorite character :/

  • I love this game... just got it <:many thanks to ipod touch emulator, due to the fact that NES is hard to find.

  • 2:13 Facial time

  • I think my only problem with this game was as a kid I wanted to keep the ton ton through out the game.

    ; ___;

  • I loved this game when I was a kid, so thanks for giving it a fair chance here and showing how awesome it could be.

I'm really sick of people equating; "I'M TOO MUCH OF A DOUCHE TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO PLAY THIS" with "THIS GAME SUCKS."

  • Are there any more of those easter eggs in the game where they show the credits? I want to see Paul Webb on there.

  • This game was a pain in the ass, and I loved it.

  • One of my personal favorite games

  • When you hold down the d-pad, luke glows and jumps higher. Sorta like Super Mario Bros. 2.

  • i agree compleatly of what you said at the opening,, you do need to play the game seriosly, instaid of playing it for 5 minutes and sat somthing bad

  • I'm not sure which one has better gameplay and controls, The Empire Strikes Back for the NES, or Star Wars Trilogy: Apprentice of the Force, for the Gameboy Advance

  • This game is awesome. I played the crap out of it as a kid, and loved it. All the force powers, fighting with Vader in Cloud City... It rocked.

  • good vid, man. you bring up a valid point about peeps uploading games, reviewing that they suck cause they cant play them correctly. mainly these are folks who were frustrated then, and feel the need to vent online now about the same game they still cant beat.

  • Ahhh memories...

  • Still my favorite NES game after Castlevania 3. I just wish they would have released a NES´ Return of the Jedi, but then SNES console came out and buried NES. :(

  • GO STAR WARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for posting a GOOD walkthrough of this game. Yes, it can be a frustrating game, but I see it as a gaming badge of honor if you can finish this game period, whether you're a kid or adult.

  • I remember renting this game from an Albertsons video store when it first came out and remembering not knowing what the hell I was doing just in the first stage. Took forever to get to the snowspeeder stage. Now, thanks to the magic of emulators, and still having a copy of the game for my NES, I was finally able to finish it a few years ago. It felt very rewarding since it was one of a few games I played as a kid that I hadn't finished yet.

  • This game kick'd the frikkin asses back when I was 8 years old !

Got till the part where u needed to kick han's ass when he was frozen in the carbonite saucer thing on Cloud City.

  • thank you i was stuck on the first level ON THE FIRST LEVEL.thats sad right i got stuck on the FIRST LEVEL

  • BEST GAME ON NES AND THE HARDEST

  • Luke, CHOOSE the Force xD

  • Holy SHIT, the tauntaun lightsaber destroys.

  • I don't mind this game. Even though it's difficult, it's somehow enticing to me. I like the melee / ranged combat swapping and the levels have good exploration value. It's definitely a step up from the piece of shit first game.

I'm not a Star Wars nerd by any means, but I can't help but laugh and poke fun at the plot points that differ from the movies. Like I said, not that I give a shit about consistency, it's just fun to say, "REMEMBER WHEN LUKE FOUND THE LIGHTSABER IN THE CAVE?"

  • I LOVED the GameBoy Port of this game as a kid, and seeing it on NES makes me love it that much more. Yes, it deviates from the source material, but every game does that, and the fact that this game came out so late in the NES only means that Nintendo wanted to go all out. It's still a great game, no matter how frustrating it may be to some.

  • It either eats moss or some kind of rodent (the little things scurrying around)

  • I can't even tell you how many cussing fits this game caused.

  • There is a decent amount of speech in this game because it was near the end of NES and basically got all of the power from the system that they could if I am correct.

This game is much better than the wierd Star Wars NES that doesn't have Chewy or Vader.

  • I played and beat this game when I was a kid. I thought it was sub-par and I still feel that way. Compare this to the first Star Wars on the NES, and..well...there's really no contest.

  • And by the way, I always had fun killing the two wampas (both have safe places where you can hit them without retaliation).

  • Thanks for the memories.

This si one of the few games I had with my NES (back in 1994 when I was six). I could never find the exit of this level back then (mainly because I couldn't understand English at the time and that it came without the manual), but I played it a lot.

  • He runs like a Scooby Doo Character.

  • I just watched a review by filmnstuff where he completely trashed the game. He liked the first but went nuts on this one. He is actually a competent gamer bt nit picked alot and went ballistic over anything not in line with the source material. Sure that can be annoying, but it seems he trashed the whole game because of this. I thought the graphics were fine, the levels were challenging and fun and the game was good. the music did suck though. thx for posting this.

  • @Daemonocracy

I saw filmnstuff's review. I suspect he actually likes the game... those who don't wouldn't bother finishing it. I don't agree with his Angry Video Game Nerd-wannabe comments, but appreciate that he did, at least, walk through the whole thing.

  • @pniner Hey nice to see this vid again. we talked about Filmnstuff's "review" on your last video a couple years ago. I subscribed hoping you would do more walk throughs, and stayed subscribed because you did such a good job here.

He did finish the game, I recognize that, but he's too much of a youtube shock jock for my taste relying on profanity and feigned anger for hits. As I said, he's a competent gamer, maybe he has progressed beyond an AVGN imitator these days, who knows.

  • I HAVEN'T PLAYED THIS GAME FOR YEARS..

  • I think most people hate this game because the sound is so weird and buggy.

  • Thanks for the upload.

  • It's really not that hard in the context of when it was created. Back in 1991 we were used to no save states, no passwords, and insta-death scenarios everywhere. I'd think gamers are a lot less likely to accept that kind of thing today, which is why I recommend playing the game with save states and a turbo button!

  • This game don't look hard it reminds me of the SNES Version

  • its really difficult to navigate your way trust me. The movements are really quick.

  • I Agree, haven't played this game not as hard as that Level where you fly the snowspeeder in the side scrolling level
