Joanna is defining herself by these early winnings and will probably not succeed beyond them (think of most child stars, prodigies ect, some do continue into adulthood but most do not). Aleena needs to adjust her attitude, she is actually the luckier one if she can get beyond her need to define herself as a competitor of Joanna's. She has a lot of personality, much more than Joanna does, she just needs some time to grow and learn how best to use it.

When you esteem something you calculate it's value in comparison to others, but self-worth is the intrinsic value, independent of anything else. How wonderful it would be if the parents of these children would spend all this time, money and energy in a worthy endeavor. I truly feel sorry for the children.

In Germany, we don´t have these "Little Beauty Pageants".
Most of those mothers, who driver their daughters from Pageant to Pageant do this because the couldn´t do it theirself.
Some of the girls change their personality, when they where pretty dresses and get their hair styled.
For example Joanna Whitner.
She is shy an a normal, 8 or 10 year old american girl.
But when she´s whering her beautiful dresses, bikinis or anything else she is "The Pageant Girl".

have you not put the clues together? The overly fat, unattractive mothers are living their lives through their daughters.
It's plain and simple. It gives the mothers something to do. They feel pretty by proxy because "they made her.
And they feel in the end it's all justified, because they believe their daughters really want to do this. So they convince themselves, that this is all okay.

the judges are just as bad the way that one talked about that it's about looks...at that age. also jordan and her mom are the only ones who don't do the fake stuff and you can tell that mom does not pressure her kid and wants her to have fun. she doesn't do the tan or the flipper.

i like all the moms on this show.
on the last episode of toddlers & tiaras, there was a really mean mom. i forget her name. but she had twin daughters and TOTALLY favoured the "prettier" one

omg i just watched that last night!! and ashlynne ended up winning more and reconizged more for her sweet personality, while her twin "theprettyone" acted like a lil brat, and didn't even do the talent portion. and she still ended up making her Ash feel like she was less. sickening.

Cause you just can't believe what you're seeing...
P.S. Has anyone noticed the girls still act like puppets even when they win? No emotion, just the rehearsed smile. Now that's scary.
