I know it wasn't Hans Zimmer who wrote this, but the arrangement is wonderful. On culch.ie, I review the film and the score together. Check it out, under the soundtracks section!
i would venture to say that these few bars alone afford Mr. ZiMMER with virtual immortality, as it will keep being performed until the end of time...or, at least, until there are no more humans left alive to appreciate utter sheer etherical beauty

i can confirm what CroBabe76 wrote: this is an original piece by film music (mostly) composer Hans ZiMMER called "Vide Cor Meum" . the lyrics are by Patrick Cassidy, based on Dante Alighieri's "La Vita Nuova", more specifically on the sonnet "A ciascun' alma presa" (meaning: "each 'captive soul" ) in chapter 3 of the Vita Nueva.
this piece of music is from hans zimmer, called "Vide Cor Meum" it is originally in the sequel "Hannibal" - i have never heard this "fast" version though. it is supposed to be inspired by dante´s "la vita nuovo" - it is splendid.
i think its kind of ironic, Hanibal here is a brutal-cannival-assassin and the theme song is opera and very peacful and of oucrse beautiful. but i would never have guest this music would have been from this film
This was composed by Patrick Cassidy... if only more operas had more feeling... and I hate that they sped this song up, this song deserves to take it's sweet time!!!!
When I heard this in the film I was dying to know where it came from, It makes the hairs stand on end, such a brilliant piece. Id love to see it live. Thanks for youtube and thanks for posting it!
i fell in love with Hannibal after this film i was never that bothered about Silence of the Lambs but this film really got me then i fell in love with Silence and Red Dragon, ive read all three books ive not got round to Hannibal Rising yet but i will, beautifull character, greatest fictional character ever.
