CRA...I just read up on it - it's been cited as a contributing factor to the current financial instability. I think buying/selling of loans was already happening but accelerated along with the explosion of loans made available to people based on very little credit qualifications. And yes, it was revised by the Clinton administration in such a way that pushed banks, who from what I read were against it, to give out sub-prime loans. good ideas, unintended consequences.

I am not saying the NYT intentionally lies, but bias is usually shown 1.) by selecting only facts that benefit one side only and 2.) spin. For example, politifact left out many smears against Palin, such as that she cut spending on the disabled when she actually tripled it. This makes it look like the left smears less. Also, their spin that McCains proposed Fannie Mae reforms in 2006 would not help is based on nothing.
