  • "..and the problem of Conservatism (and deregulation), is that eventually, you run out of other people's competition."

    -Jose, 18 years old, NYC

  • Regulation got us into this mess!

  • who's to blaim for this? ther's a name that fits... for the musical comment, click on my name!! ... I'm serious, "DO IT"

  • im hrny =X. if ne1 wants 2 chat just msg me. my M.S.Ngr id is in profile.

i love watching videos on youtube naked! uH

  • The following parallels the very end of this video.

Imagine Barry Bonds being asked by a reporter,

Q: In the 90s you were one of the players who took steroids, do you regret that now?

A: No, steroids were probably helpful to the growth of my physique."

  • The REAL problem is that this is an extremely complex issue that the average person can not get their mind around. Most of the comments posted here confirm that fact. There is good regulation and bad regulation. Go start a business and make yourself responsible for someone else's payroll. Then you can think about understanding.

Also, watch David Asman's report on Fox News. Very factual and breaks it down in simple terms.

  • Every time our economy begins to falter, a Repubican is President!

    Herbert Hoover - Great Depression

    Dwight Eisenhower - 1957 Recession

    Richard Nixon - 1971 Recession

Gerald Ford - stagflation in 1973

Ronald Reagan - "Black Monday," Oct. 19, 1987

    George H. W. Bush - 1991 Recession

George W. Bush - right now!

    We deserve a change.

    Vote Barack Obama

  • You have no clue and you deserve what you get.

  • There has to be some personal responsibility for the loans that people took. It's not just the big bad banks fault. Obama's economic advisor called Fannie and Freddie "riskless." Sorry if I confuse anyone with common sense.

  • yes, personal responsibility is necessary - Corporate and political responsibility is even greater - as a mortgage lender, don't tell some poor, low-skilled, under educated, working class single mom that she can afford an interest only loan when she can't. when refinancing my house, I got the same crap - they were very aggressive about it, even after my insistence against it! Responsibility should go to the people who have the power and the knowledge to know better.

  • If you could tell they were BS-ing you, why couldn't everyone else?

  • REPUBLICANS controlled the CONGRESS for 12 years!! BUSH was president for 8 years!! See what THAT CORRUPTED PARTY has done to our Nation !! MANY ARE IN JAIL !! McCAIN sided with BUSH 90% of the time. McCAIN HELPED create THE MESS WERE IN!! The American People "WILL NOT FORGET" The American People "WILL NOT ELECT" another REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT! John McCain YOU & YOUR PARTY BLEW IT---YOURE FIRED !! NO WAY---NO HOW---NO McSAME---NO McCAIN !!
  • You're a joke.

  • Remember when the Republicans tried to skewer John Kerry as the "Great Flip-flopper"? Which way is the wind blowing today, John?

  • i thought GWB was the ultimate serial liar..until i watched this brain damaged car wreck named john McCain..good heavens..President?..seriously..you have to be chitting me..?

  • Is Sen. McCain wearing flip flops on stage?

  • John McCain: The Fundamental Degenerate!

    CUT AND PASTE

  • you are retarded lol

  • Let AIG fail. We don't need the bail out. Doesn't scare me.

Let GM lay off. Let other companies lay off.

Let this be written up in the histroy books as the 2nd great depression and let the Republican/Neocon LEGACY be known as the largest financial and foreign policy our government has every faced.

Its karmic blow-back.... you can't stop it.

We all need to ride it out... hang on!!!

  • I agree with you, but now the talking heads are saying that it could cost upwards of 1.3 TRILLION dollars because they don't exactly know how much this problem is going to cost, and that they will learn this as they go along. This is all political code-speak for "the rich will steal every penny they can and get away with it." All of these companies are going to be bought out and the top execs. are going to take their bonuses and move to Argentina, just like some of the Nazis did in WWll.

  • Hey Sarah, what committee are you on in DC?

O, your not on one. Then I guess you should have some free time to debate senator Biden.

Sarah and Johnny, can run but they cannot hide!

  • don't believe what you hear mcfullofshit said last week, yesterday or this morning...just believe what he's saying at the moment, okay?

    mcfullofshit and pit bullshit 08!

    the ticket retards can trust!

  • So, now 10 days after the finance crisis began in earnest, after a week of saying the economy was ok, after a week of interviews in NYC in front of Katie Couric and the View and on the eve of the first Presidential debate, McCain suspends his campaign to go to Washington. C'mon, he hasn't been there since April and is a two hour debate on Friday night, really going to prevent him from getting something done in Washington. What a political stunt.

  • John McCain wants to win this election so badly, ever since GWB stole it from him in 2000. This is what ego and the height of ambition will do to a person. McCain will do just about anything to win, including destroy his country.

  • And he really did used to be a man of principle. You may not have agreed with hm, but he used to stand for something. Now he has flipflopped on nearly all his positions. The worst is that he said he wouldnt suck up to the loony christian right. Then not only did he, but he selected this "snake handler" serial LIAR for VP. His ambition is so great that he is incompetant to lead and even he knows it. THATS why he doesnt want to debate!

  • I didn't decide to run for president to start a national crusade for the political reforms I believed in or to run a campaign as if it were some grand act of patriotism. In truth, I wanted to be president because it had become my ambition to be president. . . . In truth, I'd had the ambition for a long time." John McCain, "Worth Fighting For," 2002

  • Gee, I wonder why McCain doesn't want to do the debates this coming Friday evening?

  • Let's see if Mr. Obama lets him get away with it. The democrats have an opportunity here, but I will be surprised if they don't do what they almost always do, which is...... nothing.

  • A phoney growth. A growth propped up upon the heartstrings of people that could not afford the balloon payments. A phoney house of cards that Bush hoped would stand until he left office.

Now Bush will go down in history as the greatest buffoon ever to hold the oval office.

  • It didn't take this financial crisis for millions of millions of people in this country to think he's the greatest buffoon to ever be the president. :)

WORST PRESIDENT EVER. GREEDY CORRUPT WAR MONGER AND CRIMINAL.

  • McPiece of shit.

  • John McCain't: confused old shit-bag and out-and-out LIAR. Anyone votes for this clown is a clown. And will be a poor clown at that.

  • We can see how removing regulation has helped our economy. Hopefully people pay attention to the statements like these that McCain has made. It's pretty insane that he preached de-regulation for so long, and as soon as he got his wish, the bottom fell out.

  • Jesus wanted to help others. Is he a liberal?

  • Yes.

...He certainly wouldn't be a Conservative. He'd feel too slimy.

  • OBAMA/BIDEN 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If dead people can vote, why can't I vote for Bill Hicks for President?

  • Great ad!! Conservatism is dead. The funeral will be held on Novermber 4.

  • Bob Perry, one of the major US homebuilders, was the person who gave millions to run the swift boat ads.

Bush rewarded Bob Perry and the other homebuilders who kicked in by allowing the financial institutions to make home loans without verification of income or assets.

When I talked w/ some folks in the Mortgage Business they were shocked at how loose everything had become under Bush.

"Just grant the loan, pass it on, & hope it all works out."

    WELL, IT DIDN'T!

  • You loony libs fail to realize that REGULATION is what caused this mess, no deregulation! Minorities couldn't take out loans they couldn't afford, so the libs cried racism and forced banks to give them loans. Fuck socialism!

  • You couldn't be more wrong. Also, when you make statements generalizing MILLIONS of people by saying "you loony libs", you make yourself look extremely stupid. Furthermore, being liberal is a good thing. AND, If you don't like socialism, don't use the fire dept. or the police dept. or social security when you get old (assuming you are American).

  • Don't try to reason with these people. They are the types that use tortured reasoning to justify their inane take on the world. Logic bedamned. They don't stop to consider what in their government and lives is "socialized" and what isn't, because they don't know the definition of the term. To them it's an epithet, an insult, like "dumbass" or "bastard". They are like that old lady that yelled that famous quote from Senator John Breaux: "Keep the government out of my Medicare!"

  • Yeah they were forced to. The banks begged,"PLEASE, PLEASE, don't force us to make enormous profits off of these balloon payment and interest free mortgages that we already know the homeowner won't be able to pay in a few years. Don't force us to tell them not to worry about those payments because they can refinance later. Please, plaease don't make us do that. PLEEEASE! BOOOO HOO HOO HOO HOO!"

  • I meant to say "interest only" not "interest free"

  • The foundmentals of the De-Regulator is pretty strong. He has Lots of GOP friends to back him up.

  • what are the stastics and studies he cites to say that deregulation is good. economics is after all a field of mathemitcs an studies not just guessing

  • What is a "stastic"?

  • Milton Friedman. His theories, now having been tested in several instances, have utterly failed. They have caused a slow bleed, or death by a thousand paper cuts. The problem is that the negative symptoms are spread over decades, so proponents of failed economic policy can often fool enough people into prolonging the agony.

  • deewegulation

  • Almost always people who ever complain about someone being partisan are conservatives. The reason is because they are actually complaining about someone telling the truth. These conservatives know they can't complain about lies because they know the "partisans" aren't lying. So they actually convince themselves that taking the opposing view and telling the truth is a bad thing.

  • Yeah, those "affirmative-action" loans. Then why didn't it become an issue until just recently? The problem is the bankers signing for loans they knew were going to be bad from the beginning, but not caring, because they could just re-package it up and sell it to another suc....*ahem*... investor. Making homes available to lower income people isn't what cause this. Lack of oversight, regulations and accountability did.

  • the housing bubble seems to coincide with the changes that the Clintons made to the CRA in the 90s...at least that's what I've read and what some people like Ron Paul are saying.

  • tiredoflies - probably all of it is happening at the same time and that's the critical issue here...each one of these problems would be one thing on their own but all together, well it's a huge mess and we have to figure out, as a people and a nation, where to start but it's not clear to me that any of our leaders are willing to take the first swing.

  • You're all missing the point. This never would have happened if those fucking LIEBERALS hadn't forced the banks to give "affirmative action loans" to minorities, who everyone knows aren't capable of making their payments like good white ahahahahahaha what a load of bullshit. I love republican talking points.

  • CRA...I just read up on it - it's been cited as a contributing factor to the current financial instability. I think buying/selling of loans was already happening but accelerated along with the explosion of loans made available to people based on very little credit qualifications. And yes, it was revised by the Clinton administration in such a way that pushed banks, who from what I read were against it, to give out sub-prime loans. good ideas, unintended consequences.

  • should just run this over and over in an advertisement.

  • If McCain and Obama had any integrity, they would insist on open debates with all presidential candidates.

  • agree completely

  • So you want to Include Green, Constitution, Libertarian and Communist, Socialist ?

The reason why they don't include them because they DON'T HAVE A chance of winning, they don't have real campaigns. 3rd parties only give one party an easier road.

    Perot helped Clinton

    Nader helped Bush

    Teddy Roosevelt helped Wilson

When 3rd parties start I don't know fucken winning house or senate seats and actually I don't know do something other than bitch and whine thats when i'll respect and listen .

  • If a candidate is on enough ballots, he or she should be included. The reason they are not included is because the powers that be own both major parties and they don't want the American people to be given other choices.

The real reason 3rd parties don't have a chance of winning is because they are blacked out by the media (which is owned by the same aforementioned powers) and their messages never get out.

If a major party candidate can't win on his own merits then screw him.

  • Ron Paul knows what he's talking about I think but how is that guy going to get a chance when we have country that's on a 'football' system - I mean you choose to wear a red or a blue jersey and sit on opposite sides of the stadium yelling out slogans for the team you support...and that's it for many voters...no more thought goes into it. I can't think of a good metaphor for a better system off the top of my head...anyone???

  • You are 100% right. Most of Europe has runoff election systems, including France & Germany. It allows for legitimate multi-party elections.

But we wouldn't want to do anything the same way the French do would we? That would make us all fags.

  • Good for Europe but that won't work for america.

because if nobody gets 270 electoral college it will go to the house. If every election goes to the house because we let all he screwballs in 3rd parties than why even have an election.

Ron Paul is a fucken idiot who would of been a great president 145 years ago, he is more out of touch than mcCain.

  • Are you brainwashed or just stupid? Ron Paul makes more sense than all the others combined. Do you think he is out of touch because he follows the constitution? By the way, he's been warning us of the current financial melt-down for at least 5 years.

  • "Ron Paul makes more sense than all the others combined"

Ron Paul is zero different than the rest. He is a Christian fascist, a Creationist cultist, and a Christian terrorist simpathizer. He's zero different from the Bush Christian terrorists or from the Democrat fascists and traitors. Ron Paul is insane, and his followers are deluded cultists.

  • I started to laugh until I realized you were being serious. Have you taken your medication?

  • Yeah, but his solution entails returning us to the late 1900's... no dept. of education? no highways? no roads? no FBI? he's a lunatic overall.

  • Take a look a where our educational system ranks in the world since the federal government took over. He's saying government is too big and too intrusive and education should be governed by the states. I don't know where you get no highways or no roads.

  • Everybody should see this video.

  • All Millionnaires trying to grow their own personal portfolios -- dispicable actors on a stage!

  • "[Laissez-faire] requires statecraft and repression to impose the logic of the market and its attendant risks on ordinary people."

    — Fred Block

"Polanyi exposes the myth of the free market: there never was a truly free, self-regulating market system"

    — Joseph Stiglitz

    "We are all Keynesians now."

    — Richard Nixon, 1971

And then along came Reagan, with "200 billion worth of hot checks."

  • McCain is a scary OLD MAN.

God forbid he wins in November.

  • rather lose his integrity than lose this election. Flip-flop. I want to get to the top. Scarier, is the idea that "I want to co-operate and now I don't Palin, is only ten minute supply of oxygen away from her fanatic (she believes in speaking in tongues", great hablablabla keko mazariwantoo) I mean like , whoa.

  • dh, I understand your wanting to jump up in defense of McPain here because he did consponsor this legislation. However you obviously don't know the history behind this or about the 27 month long investigation who's results forced Mr. Deregulation...Mr. Keating Five to speak out against this. If fact the non-partisan politifactdotcom just did a great evaluation discrediting your argument. I encourage everyone to go there and read for themselves.

  • I went to your referenced site. Somewhat interesting place. As far as non-partisan ... well, you probably thing the NYT is nonpartisan.

  • dh, Are you trying to say that Politifactdotcom is not partisan? Has the McCain declared them to be? It's amazing how when a news organization or a nonpartisan site like Politifact prints the truth and actually provides facts to back them up, the McCain camp can just say their in the tank for Obama and all their little ditto head followers run spewing the falsities. Ever occur to you that your candidate was willing to sacrifice his character by hiring all of Bush's cronies to run things?

  • If you think the NYT has a bias, that's your problem. It may or may not have bias, but it's certainly not "partisan" in the strict definition of the term. Fox News would be. But the important point is that "Partisan" and "True" are not necessarily exclusive. Paul Begala could say the sky is blue, but that doesn't make it false just because he's a liberal and you're not.

  • I am not saying the NYT intentionally lies, but bias is usually shown 1.) by selecting only facts that benefit one side only and 2.) spin. For example, politifact left out many smears against Palin, such as that she cut spending on the disabled when she actually tripled it. This makes it look like the left smears less. Also, their spin that McCains proposed Fannie Mae reforms in 2006 would not help is based on nothing.

  • What's scary is I'm not sure McCain has any idea what he is talking about. He's a novice at economics. Probably never took a single class.

  • Man, it has got to be tough to be wrong wrong wrong on all important issues facing the country. If I was him I would be reminding everyone I was a POW or calling the press sexist to not have to answer to my own intellectual failures. On that accord, hechuva job McSame!

    OBAMA/BIDEN 2008

  • wholey fucking shit

  • Deregulation has been part of the Republican Party platform for as long as I can remember. For McCain to now try and frame himself as a "regulator" is laughable.

  • wow...Obama needs to see this..can someone show this to him during a lunch break on his blackberry...i am sure he will love this....this election is Obama's to win man...it's like God is giving him a gift telling him run with it...

  • the fact is McCain has been playing this idea that he is for regulation but his plan for Deregulation has not changed. Its pandering to us what he has been doing for the last week and it time we stand up and tell people this

  • McCain = Bush!

  • Someone please pass me a barf bag. Not sure how much more of this I can stomach.

  • He changes his mind when it benefits him. What a pandering LIAR!

  • Great work Jed.

  • It's so funny that McSame doesn't realize how powerful 'the Google' is in allowing people to directly see how much he changes his stance in a transparently disingenuous effort to match the 'popular' view of the day in his dishonorable presidential campaign.

  • This video truly deserves to be viral.

  • Please let Obama use some of this footage in an ad. PLEASE!

  • proven: all conservatives policies are failures. they've nothing left.

  • Come on guys this video needs to go viral! Send the link to family and friends: McCain's telling people he's for regulation and his crowds are falling for his lies.

  • Great video-

  • Voting GOP? Just wear a sticker on your forehead with the word, IMBECILE.

  • Conservatives fail.
