In places, one couldn't walk without stepping on them. When driving into town, there was a continual crunching as the wheels passed over beatles. A sweet sickly smell hung over the town from crushed beetle.

  • Same thing happens to us in Arizona, except its a different species of beetles and here they take over gas stations. I wonder what it is they are attracted to?

  • in my country there was nothing of this 2 =s THANK GOD!

  • so hungry

  • kool

  • Wow that is sooo freaky you know what would be scarier? If you saw a human covered in them. Nasty!

  • Wow!

  • It appears that this town missed a lot of storms!

But still had the hot humid weather

Severe weather usually kills the bugs(flooding rain drowns and hail smashes).

So the bug show that the town has missed the storms.

    Q. Why is a storm chaser in a town with no storms?

  • wow, cool... how big were they?

  • Iv'e senn this before when my town was overrun by bugs of all sized.

  • Any idea on which species this exactly was?

Did this have something to do with migration due to a storm?

  • They are ground beetles in the Carabidae family. They eat armyworm caterpillars but during the overpopulation, they were eating other insects and each other. I think the increased number of beetles was due to the weather that year. There were also large numbers of certain moths and other insects. Since 2001, I have only seen a few of the same beetles in Texas. 2001 was an unusual year.

  • mealworms that coooned from farms..positive

  • Wow, I live in Texas, and I never knew about this!

  • hahahaha this is great dude i love your job chaseing storms must be the best and don't them beatles bite hahaha i'd stay in my car ha

  • That was cool they're like ants. Beetles aren't yuck or nasty they're awesome as

  • thats seriously nasty

  • Go on a rampage and crush all of them. HOLY FUCK where did they all come frmo. SO MANY Get flamthrower or bomb your place with a anti beetle bomb

  • wtf, why

  • Let's face it, they've won, We've lost. We must now worship our new masters of the earth. All hail the black Beatles.

  • Does this happen every year in Haskell?

  • Long live the Beatles!
