one bass with drive, the other bass without distortion. Perhaps, they couldn't find a rhythm guitar player so a 2nd bass player could do it. hopefully both bass players aren't playing the identical parts

Well usually bass' are used as rythem (not always) and guitars have more variety sound wise, so it is better to have two guiatrs instead of two basses
