  • Had the album, lent it and never got it back. Librarian lady, Jonathan Livingston Budgerigar and my fave teenage cremation.

  • I have no clue what he's saying with the accent. I love it at the same time though

  • i miss you Newcastle, maybe its this song that made me leave, just joking.

  • I have looked in "used record" shops for a long time...hey love you tube!!!

  • classic!!!

  • classic aussy, newcastle song, its great

  • love it this is the first time i have heard this version

  • this the worst music i have ever heard.

  • Parthenon was my hangout 78 to 80. I lived at the Cambridge. Next tot he TV room :)

  • There was a Parthenon milk bar but it was opened a couple of years after the song was released and was name for the song.

  • takes me back travling in our old transervan no one had a licens

  • love this - my Ex (Newie Born and Bred) reckoned there was a Parthenon Milk Bar - but not next to a chinese takeaway ................;)

  • @diamantinadavina last time i went to the pathenon the menu items were all named in theme with this song, eg the normie burger and the FJ specail, the place should have been heritage listed but it was killed of probably after the no stopping signs went up out the front. Hunter street is not the main cruising area any more, it all happens now down on the foreshore but cruising in newcastle is still as big if not bigger now, just not as many FJ's.

  • this is awesome

  • any1 remember the song J.L Budgerigar?

  • @theoldgalah: 2 ways to do it:

    1. Use a USB turntable.

    2. Play the audio into the Line In on your computer and use recording software (e.g. the freeware Audacity) to save it as a digital audio file.

Though I just did some searching and found most, if not all, of the songs on a compilation CD available online at pressplaymusic.

  • @moblet I have a digital turntable and have recorded the album straight to mp3 on a memory stick but it recorded tinny as hell.I have ordered the cd from pressplay.I figured it would be much better than anything I can do.Thank you for the heads up.Now how to get the cd onto youtube??? No doubt its simpler than it sounds....I hope.

  • @theoldgalah My CD arrived today and all the songs are there (yay!). Can now pump them out on community radio too.

I've never uploaded a video here, and only do audio editing, not video, so I'm not the guy to ask...

  • @moblet No worries. Thanks for the heads up re pressplay.I reckon a man of your obvious skill and talent could probably upload them with not too much effort. When I get my Cd I will look into it anyway.Thankyou

  • Whatever happened to Bob?

  • @PogoMorgan He became a DJ on JJ (now JJJ) and according to Wikipedia later did a PhD in Anthropology. Found a USyd anthropologist called Bob Hudson's webpage, main research the urban history of Burma. I hope for his sake that the junta over there has a sense of humour, or that they confiscated his guitar for his own safety.

  • Newcastle hasnt changed, all except BHP isnt there anymore.

Its been yonks since I heard it. Thanks. this brought another song to mind, can you get your hands on a copy of Rak off Normie?
