The Rolls-Royce of helicopters? You are NUTS! Who's the 'experts'? The 480 is the biggest pile-o-junk I've ever maintained. Cheap helicopter not good, good helicopter not cheap! I'll see you & Rudy Enstrom in H*LL!
@DanBell47 Officially I am prohibited to comment on 'Angstrom' helicopters due to the contract hit they have on me. They have my photo with a target over my face at the factory. Unofficially they are a waste of good materials. I was at the MD Helicopter factory test flying a new MD500E earlier this year, now that's a helicopter, too bad most folks are flying Eurotrash these days:-( Keep up the great work!!!
@521pd Wow. Your situation reminds me of a plastic modelling club I once belonged to. "L.A. Impact" operates an Enstrom 480, and the flight crew has this bizarre, paranoid attitude. I have no idea what purpose that group serves. Ontario, Ca Police operates an AS-350, and in my 2 cent opinion, the city would save a bundle if they switch to an R-44.
@521pd I understand The A-Star has outsold the Bell 206B 10 to 1, but they're more expensive. Ontario PD used to operate an MD500E. It crashed around '00-'01. Burbank PD has an MD520N, and it's still operational.
The 'A-Star' is sold cheap but parts are over twice as much all parts are proprietary, no after market parts available compared to the AMERICAN made helicopters. One example is engine overhaul is over $450,000 on the Eurotrash & less than $150,000 for the MD500 series. We need to stop this madness!!

@521pd My pilot friend said they're a maintenance nightmare. I heard you have to pull the engine to change the oil.
