I've had lunch on top of the Haystack more times than I can remember. In the 80's & early 90's I climbed it 10-15x a year, up the original trail, branching off from Little Si seeing no one till it met up with the main trail 2/3rds of the way up. The last time was the last time. Despite the "Dogs must be on a Leash" signs in the parking lot, It is a DNR Conservation area. I was forced off the trail 33 times by aggressive off leash dogs before I reached the top.
One summer I did spend a night up top. The view of the lights was stunning.
