And how cosy this car was in winter! In 1983 we took a long trip from Carshalton Beeches Surrey to Staffordshire and it was 110 per cent. Safe, dependable, powerful, and those green interior dials look amazing at night! Very outstanding and capable long distance cruiser.
Loads of cars would try and race at the traffic light grand prix! In 1988 my Mum left a Jaguar 4.2 trailing! only car to beat Mum from the lights was and Audi V8 3.5 IN 1990, to be fair that's a much more powerful car from a later era, the Rover V8-S still had the Audi beat though....in looks!!
I may be a bit biased because in 1982 my Mum bought a 1980 V reg model, blue, the rare 5 speed model, and it wasn't cheap either! This car turned heads everywhere, and over the years as the engine became louder it almost sounded like a Dragster! Amazingly my Mum now 70+ still has this very rare car, needs a lot reparing but is still structurally sound.
The V8-S model was a low production model, very distinctive car with it's gold painted wheels, black bumpers, thick shag-pile carpets, velour seats, and first SD1 Rover to have air-con. It's' sad how the Vanden Plas and Vittese got all the glory, this was the rarest and most distinctive model.
@MrSalimMilas Have I missed something here?, where did all that come from?...and what sheep. That video would have been in the late seveties and it wasn't a cheap car back then.
