College/University is not a waste of time like some people are saying. However there are defintiely useless courses in the schools that people take for some pointless reason i.e. English, Art History, Philosophy, etc.
These courses will (almost) never land you job so why are you taking them?
Everyone in this comment section is bashing college educations, but they fail to realize that some jobs actually require a degree. Would you want your doctors and surgeons to be self-educated? Would you want the people who are testing the safety of your food, drugs, and household goods to be self-educated?
Almost every science-related job in the country requires a college education. Our country is already far behind in science, these cuts will make things worse.
@Force3264 despite my earlier comment, my "points" are totally out of order. Your comment about "job hunting licenses" are valid, but going to college doesn't exclusively need to be about jobs. It can be about being exposed to a broader available field of knowledge, from which you can choose the job that fits you best. also, some people need to go to college to get their "dream jobs." Some think that teaching is better than being an Air Traffic Controller, despite a lower paycheck.
@That1GuyWhosNumber1 You can be exposed to a broader field of knowledge on your own with the Internet. Jim Rogers, author of Investment Biker and college professor, would argue differently. College does not offer you real world knowledge. James Altucher, president of Formula Capital, left Cornell University and was unable to succeed at investment schemes, losing large sums of money. So he took it upon himself to learn Warren Buffett's decisions to survive in it. College just made him in debt.
@force3264 Final part of the response, I don't know if you have been to college; it doesn't matter. However there is more to learn than just the simple educational aspect. college gives you life experiences that are unavailable in all other environments. It gives you a healthy place to form social bonds (friendships, romantic relationships, etc) with people your own age, who share an intellectual interest with you, with similar tastes, etc. This aspect is not found in self-educated individuals.
@That1GuyWhosNumber1 I mean Jim Rogers would say it is better to spend your money doing what you want to do and fail rather than spend your money going to college and then fail.
@force3264 Addressing your teacher scenario, you are correct. however there are few opportunities to do so, short of home schooling your children. Also, in such jobs the pay is often TO low, as there is a limit that needs to be acknowledged. In short you may be correct that it is POSSIBLE, however this is only in an ideal world. The reality is that college has value because society puts a value on college. I'll explain more later in this conversation.
@That1GuyWhosNumber1 I would like to hear these values society puts on college because I fail to see any truth in them. You can replace public high school with college and see the same dropout rate and the same problems. The only difference is that college is free and people who don't have jobs have degrees.
@force3264 The truth here is that they exist. It is an irrefutable fact that some jobs require college degrees in order for them to hire you. You said yourself that (paraphrasing) its just something you put on a job application. Therefore there IS value in it. Because having this degree DOES HELP you get these jobs. An applicant with a college degree will be hired above a non-college-educated candidate in virtually EVERY job that requires thought or intellectual challenges.
@That1GuyWhosNumber1 Right, it’s just something you put on a job application like everybody else which decreases the value. It’s that attitude that doesn’t make people search other ways for an education. That belief and an unlimited money source makes college a corrupt system. People who worked straight out of high school and worked their way is better. I would hire Joe Lamacchia over someone with degree any day. A college degree above a non-college-educated? Myth! Experience is more important.
@force3264 Certainly you can be exposed to a broad field of knowledge via the internet. However it is unrealistic to say that everything on the internet is true. this is of course an old argument with many holes, but I do think that in college, the information is more reliable. Also, it is pretty broadly accepted that it is easier for people (all types of learners) to be TAUGHT something. In many cases colleges provide the opportunities to use equipment for medical learners, for example.
@That1GuyWhosNumber1 The problem with the internet is due to the person’s inability to distinguish from a reliable source. Happens in college all the time. Friendships, romantic relationships, share an intellectual interest, etc, can be done without college. People are doing that in high school. You don’t need college to have sex, sports, parties, and have conversations.
@force3264 Could you provide a failure to distinguish reliable sources in college just so I can see what you refer to? And you are correct that these social interactions are possible elsewhere, but it is true that this culture is more accessible and available in campus towns. However I wasn't simply referring to these specific aspects of college life, more that college life as a WHOLE is an experience that is beneficial, not just the SCHOLARLY aspect, but from a"life experience" one. Thoughts?
@That1GuyWhosNumber1 You want me to provide a failure to distinguish reliable sources in college? TYT showed you an example with the Nazi Racist video. College people just hear one side and use any source that to justify their views. An extreme example would be Rodney Coronado who spoke at many colleges. Why was he there in the first place? College life is an experience but so is life in general.
@force3264 While I understand your point, I don't think your premise is correct. You seem to assume that college is only good (or not good) because of the jobs it gets you into. A few important points come to mind:
1) Education means you learn more. learning more makes you smarter. Being smarter makes you a better person.
2)College IS the path to opportunity. Try becoming a teacher or a banker or a scientist without a degree.
@That1GuyWhosNumber1 1) I agree education means you learn more, but college does not mean education. Some people with a college degree say the stupidest thing. Nazi Germany top people were college educated saying stupid things. Studies saying gays are bad people are done by people with college degrees.
@That1GuyWhosNumber1 2) Apprenticeship and certificate programs take less time and cost way less than a college degree. Air traffic controller, storage and distribution manager, real estate broker, elevator technician, and nuclear medicine technologist are some of the careers with an annual median salary of over 50,000 dollars that do not require a degree and pay better than the median pay of some college degree jobs such as a teacher.
@That1GuyWhosNumber1 2) - Part 2 So as you pointed out, a college degree is nothing more than an expensive job hunting license. One filled with accreditation requirements that act like a business so one accreditation is "better" than another accreditation causing someone to start all over in their "education" from the beginning. Like how NCATE and TEAC had to form a new accrediting body because "standards" are too different. Nursing accreditation is so much worse.
@force3264 ok, going in points still. 1) I disagree that "college does not mean education." In addition to being one of the few places where you can continue to learn in an environment specifically focussed on learning. To clarify, the alternatives you mentioned require only know-how in those specific feilds, whereas college exposes you to a large variety of subjects that you can take. the larger the college/the more classes available, the more opportunities you have to learn more.
@force3264 1) part 2: I also don't think I understand your point on Nazi Germany. As I am opposed to their views and actions, it does have to be recognized that the people who rose to power needed at least some intellectual prowess to get to where they got. The Nazis unfortunately used their intelligence simply to gain power, hold it, and eventually lose it. And yes, some college-educated folk say stupid things. But don't non-college goers also?
Colleges don't need anymore money. I got a degree in a highly technical field and now I can't find work. I also have loans that need to be paid off. Right now, I say: Thanks for nothing, college.
If a college is guaranteed to receive a high amount of money than they have little incentive to lower its own spending. If the money is limited then the colleges are forced to trim cost to attract students. The funding in itself can artificially inflate the cost of education. There are less expensive colleges. There are tech schools and community colleges also. Not everyone needs university education. Remember students. Nobody owes you an education.
I just got done studying at Pitt a semester ago. I loved how my most awesome prof simultaneously taught at the ridiculously over-priced, elitist Carnegie Mellon University. I am the first person in my family to finish college. My father couldn't finish his studies because of financial reasons. I would have gone for an MA in Translation at Pitt if they hadn't cut the program. I would've had to go out-of-state to get one and pay extra. Instead, I'm doing my MA in Germany for only 500€ a semester.
With the spike in tuition, less people will go to college so the cost will lower to attract more students. This means less people with 100k+ loans due to high interest that can never be paid back. Having more people in college does not create jobs. Supply does not create its own demand.
@force3264 Yes, fewer people will go to college, but those few people (with the rare expection of true geniuses who get scholarships) will be the people who can afford higher tuition: the wealthy. That would basically lead to a society with a less-educated middle/lower class and a better educated upper-class.
@EllaForTheAges Only way to a better educated middle class is through college? Myth! That is wrong as my previous comments suggest others methods of education. Why push everybody through college based on a myth. College is now a monopoly as the government made it possible for someone to get money which made prices go up. It’s simple supply and demand. Why raise the hopes of 17 million people by getting them into debt and work as a waitress? At least those people have a job. A lot more don’t.
@force3264 I see the validity of your comment, but I do think that college has purposes other than to help you get a job. It can expose you to literature, ideas, etc. in an enviornment that is conducive to learning because of fellow students and the tutelage of professors. I understand that there are other ways to learn, say, about organic chemistry, but those ways probably lack a good teacher to ensure that you truly understand a subject. Also, when you factor in the state of the economy,
@force3264 then I think that the 17 million statistic you used is disproportionate to the number of college- educated people with jobs that don't require degrees that might be found in a more average economic climate.
@EllaForTheAges The economy is bad so that number may change when it gets better. Or not when you look at other data. The official default rate is 7% on student loans. That is a lie because only loans in the first two years are counted. The 15 year default rate is over 20%. It’s another housing bubble. Subprime. Student loans to people who can’t pay back. The bubble is going to burst again if something doesn’t change which means maybe another 15 million with degrees and no jobs.
@EllaForTheAges Also the definition of unemployment changed with Clinton and welfare reform. It's 18% unemployment by the Center for Labor Market Studies in Boston if discouraged workers who gave up looking for a job are included. I know a lot of people with degrees who gave up looking for a job after looking for 3 years.
@EllaForTheAges I say it again. College is a scam. Subprime lending, another bailout for the banks, college does not equal education. If it was, history wouldn't be repeating itself.
@EllaForTheAges Look at Chain. Pushed people through college and are they any richer? Nope, unemployed because college does not equal education or opportunity. It only equals a small chance that is slightly better than a high school grad which doesn't amount to much. College grads make a million dollar more? Myth! Last time I checked, it was people like buffet and other rich people with degrees that pushed that million dollar average up.
@blackattack100 It shouldn't so why are you suggesting not to cut spending then? Tell me, if you were a college and the rich govt would pay for poor students, how much would you charge? 100K? 200K? There's a reason why college cost goes up and quality goes down.
College is a scam. The question that should be asked is not how to prevent the cuts so tuition would be lower, or why the protests are so small, but why are people thinking college is the path to opportunity. 5000 people have PhD's are working as janitors. Some 17 million people have college degrees that are working in jobs that do not require a degree such as truck driving and construction. Let the tuition spike happen.
Source: Why Did 17 Million Students Go to College? by Richard Vedder
@SliferDemon As in my previous comment, school does not equal education. There are other ways to get an education that does not come with the 70k price tag. Every heard of a library, museum, or even a book. There are certification programs where people can get an education then get a job.
@force3264 A lot of people running the country have a college degree who are idiots. I agree, minorities do not need college as it will not help them. They are beyond help and needs to be deported.
@force3264 To forward the advance of technology in america. And you you can't get a good job without a college degree. I don't mean an average job, I mean a great job that you love. For example, I would like to work for GM. GM does not hire anyone who does not have a 3.5 GPA or over from a select few universities. It is true that it is possible to fuck up a college education and end up back where you started, but point is you can't get a good job without it. In engineering at least.
@bman006bjj15843 You can't even get an engineering job with a college degree. I know plenty of people with degrees who can't get an engineering job because their credit is bad or college didn't teach them a certain skill set. Microsoft's Bill Gates & Paul Allen, Apple's Steve Jobs, Michael Dell of Dell Computers, Larry Ellison of Oracle Systems. non-tech: David Geffen of DreamWorks, Barry Gossett of Baltimore's Acton Mobile Industries, Michael Clifford manages COLLEGES and all have no degree
@force3264 True. Thats why you need an education applicable to your degree. Correction: Bill gates graduated from Michigan for his undergrad. How do you think he learned the math required to create what he did? Also, you are talking about CEOs, not engineers who actually create stuff rather just move money around. Do you understand hybrid control theory for a 2-mode transmission? The answer is no, because you can only learn it in college with an engineering degree.
@bman006bjj15843 "Don't let school get in the way of your education." - Mark Twain and you can't let school get in the way of your success either. Screw GM, I like Toyota cars as they are more efficient and last longer.
@bman006bjj15843 No college= no engineering job. Period. Not True. Nuclear Power Reactor Operator do not require a degree, just a license where one way you can get is by joining the military. With enough experience the operator can then be nuclear engineer and no degree required.
@force3264 So everyone should join the Military? And that counts as the equivalent of college because they train you. Also, what about the hundreds of thousands of other engineers working? That is a very tiny field. As far as the two mode goes, just by saying that proves you don't. Apples and oranges if you're comparing small cars to a two mode system. 2 mode is much more efficient under load. Also as far as small hybrid cars go, can't touch the volt.
@bman006bjj15843 By your logic, should everyone go to college? What matters in engineering, except for a few fields, is ABET accreditation in America which only do colleges which is a shame. Other countries do diplomas which can be attained through a college or some other cheaper institution. Those cheaper institutions are accredited, they're not college but the accreditation is equivalent to ABET which means those people can work here as engineers without a degree.
@force3264 ABET is pretty standard, but the institution at which you receive your degree is much more important. Also, they can, but probably will not get hired. I'm not saying everyone should go to college, trust me, it's a pain to pay for and not for everyone. I'm just saying that colleges are a great contribution to the US and should not be de-funded in any way. In fact, they should be given MUCH more funding to provide for cheaper education for everyone. Too bad we have a corrupt system
@bman006bjj15843 You fail to see that college is a monopoly. Student loans or some other funding, an unlimited money source would drive cost up. If you are a college, wouldn’t you charge more money? It doesn’t matter what other colleges do, they’ll just increase their tuition too. The problem is, there is no unlimited money source. You’re just making the problem worse. Price caps drive quality down. Why work hard for little money. Less people will be in the college industry causing a shortage.
@bman006bjj15843 No college= no engineering job. Period. Not true. Nuclear Power Reactor Operator just need a license. One way is to get it is by joining the military. With enough experience, the operator can be a Nuclear Engineer and no degree required. If I had 50 cent for all the half brain you have. I'll have 50 cents.
@bman006bjj15843 You hear people say there aren't enough "qualified" worker to fill bio-engineering jobs or some other engineering job so they out source and import workers from other countries. By "qualified" they mean your credit didn't go bad because of student loans, have the right "accreditation", or 3.5 GPA as you say. Why push more people into college when after they finish, they don't "qualify".
@force3264 If you had half a brain, you would look at what you need to get a job while you are in college instead of blindly fooling around with shit that doesn't matter. America is the best place to study engineering in the world and we are dependent on innovation new technologies to move this country forward. Technology is really what advances society. Moving money around does not.
@bman006bjj15843 You are the one with half a brain. Gates created windows first then became a CEO. Engineering job then moved up to CEO. I do understand 2-mode transmission and Toyota's hybrid system is better. I understand not because I went to college but because I have a full sized brain while you had to work twice as hard with your half brain. America is not the best place to study engineering. You think America is number 1 but it is not.
@force3264 You are right to a point. Too many young people think that college is for them when in fact, it's not. I myself got a bachelors degree in music and am now joining the military for music. Having said that, this is not a valid topic of discussion when talking about cutting state funding to universities. College is very expensive. There are poor people that belong in college but can't afford it. The same opportunities need to be available to everyone regardless of wealth.
@thehobbsguy lol u just proved my point. u have a college education yet u r letting history repeat itself. Everybody deserves a home. Government made it “affordable”. Bankers paid congress to write laws to “help” people. Subprime lending. FEMA b\c insurance won’t pay. People build in high flood area. Rich people build beach houses. Beach house gets destroyed, FEMA/tax payer pay to rebuild.
@thehobbsguy Everybody deserves to go to college. Bankers paid congress to write laws to “help” people. Rich don’t fear people who went to college b\c it’s not education. Subprime lending, Pell Grant, Monopoly/college see people have more money so prices go up.
@thehobbsguy People kicked out of home. College people not have jobs. People can do well without college. Let the cuts happen then tuition will go down automatically.
I heard on a PBS news show that prison gets more funding than education. Not only that, but we all now that education is always getting cut. In my opinion, that is counter-productive since Education is the best way to lower crime rates and that leads to less prisoners. Why is education always one of the first things to be cut???
@xXRazorSharp101Xx Education does not lower crime rates. Look at Chain. You have a lot of people who have a college degree but are unemployed. Their educated but spend their time hacking and commenting crimes. School does not equal education but education does not equal lower crime rates. Education equals a chance for opportunity. School is an expensive chance for opportunity.

Supply does not create its own demand.
force3264 11 months ago 7
@force3264 Yes, fewer people will go to college, but those few people (with the rare expection of true geniuses who get scholarships) will be the people who can afford higher tuition: the wealthy. That would basically lead to a society with a less-educated middle/lower class and a better educated upper-class.
EllaForTheAges 10 months ago
@EllaForTheAges Only way to a better educated middle class is through college? Myth! That is wrong as my previous comments suggest others methods of education. Why push everybody through college based on a myth. College is now a monopoly as the government made it possible for someone to get money which made prices go up. It’s simple supply and demand. Why raise the hopes of 17 million people by getting them into debt and work as a waitress? At least those people have a job. A lot more don’t.
force3264 10 months ago
@force3264 I see the validity of your comment, but I do think that college has purposes other than to help you get a job. It can expose you to literature, ideas, etc. in an enviornment that is conducive to learning because of fellow students and the tutelage of professors. I understand that there are other ways to learn, say, about organic chemistry, but those ways probably lack a good teacher to ensure that you truly understand a subject. Also, when you factor in the state of the economy,
EllaForTheAges 10 months ago
@force3264 then I think that the 17 million statistic you used is disproportionate to the number of college- educated people with jobs that don't require degrees that might be found in a more average economic climate.
EllaForTheAges 10 months ago
@EllaForTheAges The economy is bad so that number may change when it gets better. Or not when you look at other data. The official default rate is 7% on student loans. That is a lie because only loans in the first two years are counted. The 15 year default rate is over 20%. It’s another housing bubble. Subprime. Student loans to people who can’t pay back. The bubble is going to burst again if something doesn’t change which means maybe another 15 million with degrees and no jobs.
force3264 10 months ago
@EllaForTheAges Also the definition of unemployment changed with Clinton and welfare reform. It's 18% unemployment by the Center for Labor Market Studies in Boston if discouraged workers who gave up looking for a job are included. I know a lot of people with degrees who gave up looking for a job after looking for 3 years.
force3264 10 months ago
@EllaForTheAges I say it again. College is a scam. Subprime lending, another bailout for the banks, college does not equal education. If it was, history wouldn't be repeating itself.
force3264 10 months ago
@EllaForTheAges Look at Chain. Pushed people through college and are they any richer? Nope, unemployed because college does not equal education or opportunity. It only equals a small chance that is slightly better than a high school grad which doesn't amount to much. College grads make a million dollar more? Myth! Last time I checked, it was people like buffet and other rich people with degrees that pushed that million dollar average up.
force3264 10 months ago
@force3264 No, it goes up, because colleges need to pay for their staff still. It shouldn't be a pay race to get into a college.
blackattack100 7 months ago
@blackattack100 It shouldn't so why are you suggesting not to cut spending then? Tell me, if you were a college and the rich govt would pay for poor students, how much would you charge? 100K? 200K? There's a reason why college cost goes up and quality goes down.
force3264 7 months ago
College is a scam. The question that should be asked is not how to prevent the cuts so tuition would be lower, or why the protests are so small, but why are people thinking college is the path to opportunity. 5000 people have PhD's are working as janitors. Some 17 million people have college degrees that are working in jobs that do not require a degree such as truck driving and construction. Let the tuition spike happen.

@force3264 So let the uneducated become more of a problem? We have 594 idiots running this country already don't need more.
SliferDemon 11 months ago
@SliferDemon As in my previous comment, school does not equal education. There are other ways to get an education that does not come with the 70k price tag. Every heard of a library, museum, or even a book. There are certification programs where people can get an education then get a job.
force3264 11 months ago
@force3264 A lot of people running the country have a college degree who are idiots. I agree, minorities do not need college as it will not help them. They are beyond help and needs to be deported.
ioneipp 11 months ago
@ioneipp I never said anything about minorities.
force3264 11 months ago
@force3264 To forward the advance of technology in america. And you you can't get a good job without a college degree. I don't mean an average job, I mean a great job that you love. For example, I would like to work for GM. GM does not hire anyone who does not have a 3.5 GPA or over from a select few universities. It is true that it is possible to fuck up a college education and end up back where you started, but point is you can't get a good job without it. In engineering at least.
bman006bjj15843 11 months ago
@bman006bjj15843 You can't even get an engineering job with a college degree. I know plenty of people with degrees who can't get an engineering job because their credit is bad or college didn't teach them a certain skill set. Microsoft's Bill Gates & Paul Allen, Apple's Steve Jobs, Michael Dell of Dell Computers, Larry Ellison of Oracle Systems. non-tech: David Geffen of DreamWorks, Barry Gossett of Baltimore's Acton Mobile Industries, Michael Clifford manages COLLEGES and all have no degree
force3264 11 months ago
@force3264 True. Thats why you need an education applicable to your degree. Correction: Bill gates graduated from Michigan for his undergrad. How do you think he learned the math required to create what he did? Also, you are talking about CEOs, not engineers who actually create stuff rather just move money around. Do you understand hybrid control theory for a 2-mode transmission? The answer is no, because you can only learn it in college with an engineering degree.
bman006bjj15843 11 months ago
@bman006bjj15843 "Don't let school get in the way of your education." - Mark Twain and you can't let school get in the way of your success either. Screw GM, I like Toyota cars as they are more efficient and last longer.
force3264 11 months ago
@force3264 No college= no engineering job. Period. And completely untrue.
bman006bjj15843 11 months ago
@bman006bjj15843 You and you're name calling. Just what I expect with someone with a college degree.

@bman006bjj15843 No college= no engineering job. Period. Not True. Nuclear Power Reactor Operator do not require a degree, just a license where one way you can get is by joining the military. With enough experience the operator can then be nuclear engineer and no degree required.
force3264 11 months ago
@force3264 So everyone should join the Military? And that counts as the equivalent of college because they train you. Also, what about the hundreds of thousands of other engineers working? That is a very tiny field. As far as the two mode goes, just by saying that proves you don't. Apples and oranges if you're comparing small cars to a two mode system. 2 mode is much more efficient under load. Also as far as small hybrid cars go, can't touch the volt.
bman006bjj15843 10 months ago
@bman006bjj15843 By your logic, should everyone go to college? What matters in engineering, except for a few fields, is ABET accreditation in America which only do colleges which is a shame. Other countries do diplomas which can be attained through a college or some other cheaper institution. Those cheaper institutions are accredited, they're not college but the accreditation is equivalent to ABET which means those people can work here as engineers without a degree.
force3264 10 months ago
@force3264 ABET is pretty standard, but the institution at which you receive your degree is much more important. Also, they can, but probably will not get hired. I'm not saying everyone should go to college, trust me, it's a pain to pay for and not for everyone. I'm just saying that colleges are a great contribution to the US and should not be de-funded in any way. In fact, they should be given MUCH more funding to provide for cheaper education for everyone. Too bad we have a corrupt system
bman006bjj15843 10 months ago
@bman006bjj15843 You fail to see that college is a monopoly. Student loans or some other funding, an unlimited money source would drive cost up. If you are a college, wouldn’t you charge more money? It doesn’t matter what other colleges do, they’ll just increase their tuition too. The problem is, there is no unlimited money source. You’re just making the problem worse. Price caps drive quality down. Why work hard for little money. Less people will be in the college industry causing a shortage.
force3264 10 months ago
@bman006bjj15843 The volt is sweet but too bad it is still inferior to the EV1. GM killed its own baby.
force3264 10 months ago
@force3264 Ev1 was not profitable, so they redesigned it and put out the volt.

force3264 11 months ago
@bman006bjj15843 You hear people say there aren't enough "qualified" worker to fill bio-engineering jobs or some other engineering job so they out source and import workers from other countries. By "qualified" they mean your credit didn't go bad because of student loans, have the right "accreditation", or 3.5 GPA as you say. Why push more people into college when after they finish, they don't "qualify".
force3264 11 months ago
@force3264 If you had half a brain, you would look at what you need to get a job while you are in college instead of blindly fooling around with shit that doesn't matter. America is the best place to study engineering in the world and we are dependent on innovation new technologies to move this country forward. Technology is really what advances society. Moving money around does not.
bman006bjj15843 11 months ago
@bman006bjj15843 You are the one with half a brain. Gates created windows first then became a CEO. Engineering job then moved up to CEO. I do understand 2-mode transmission and Toyota's hybrid system is better. I understand not because I went to college but because I have a full sized brain while you had to work twice as hard with your half brain. America is not the best place to study engineering. You think America is number 1 but it is not.
force3264 11 months ago
@force3264 You are right to a point. Too many young people think that college is for them when in fact, it's not. I myself got a bachelors degree in music and am now joining the military for music. Having said that, this is not a valid topic of discussion when talking about cutting state funding to universities. College is very expensive. There are poor people that belong in college but can't afford it. The same opportunities need to be available to everyone regardless of wealth.
thehobbsguy 10 months ago
@thehobbsguy lol u just proved my point. u have a college education yet u r letting history repeat itself. Everybody deserves a home. Government made it “affordable”. Bankers paid congress to write laws to “help” people. Subprime lending. FEMA b\c insurance won’t pay. People build in high flood area. Rich people build beach houses. Beach house gets destroyed, FEMA/tax payer pay to rebuild.
force3264 10 months ago
@thehobbsguy Everybody deserves to go to college. Bankers paid congress to write laws to “help” people. Rich don’t fear people who went to college b\c it’s not education. Subprime lending, Pell Grant, Monopoly/college see people have more money so prices go up.
force3264 10 months ago
@thehobbsguy People kicked out of home. College people not have jobs. People can do well without college. Let the cuts happen then tuition will go down automatically.
force3264 10 months ago
I heard on a PBS news show that prison gets more funding than education. Not only that, but we all now that education is always getting cut. In my opinion, that is counter-productive since Education is the best way to lower crime rates and that leads to less prisoners. Why is education always one of the first things to be cut???
xXRazorSharp101Xx 11 months ago 4
@xXRazorSharp101Xx Education does not lower crime rates. Look at Chain. You have a lot of people who have a college degree but are unemployed. Their educated but spend their time hacking and commenting crimes. School does not equal education but education does not equal lower crime rates. Education equals a chance for opportunity. School is an expensive chance for opportunity.
