  • There is nothing not absolutely astounding about this man or this song.

  • Different guitars probably give different results, but I just bought a Dunlop Trigger Capo Acoustic today for this song, and it works really well! The rubber really sticks to the strings so it doesn't slide off (at least it hasn't for me in the 3 hours I have played the song). I would definitely recommend testing one out at Guitar Center or what ever music store is near you guys!

  • WHY ARE WE NOT WORSHIPPING THIS MAN

  • great song, i tried it with my normal capo (which barely has enough reach and grip over just four strings to sustained the high E...but even better just get a Spider Capo and you can trying any combination you want. also, you could tune EGDGBE and just capo across the entire 2nd fret but it doesn't sound quite the same

  • @ChuckDee33 You cannot use a spider capo on this song because he does a true over the capo fretting of the G# note at :35, :43, :50 and throughout the song. The only way a Spider would work is if you parked it way on the headstock end of the second fret and snuck your hand in there. I'm learning this now with a Shubb upside down that I hacked off the length that would cover the other 2 strings. That does not mean I don't think Spider Capo is cool!

  • @121jigawatts true, it is tough to fret the low E 2nd fret with the Spider capo on as it's kind of bulky on the ends. i haven't considered hacking off a bit from my regular Jim Dunlop capo but i guess that would work if you had one to spare for this particular purpose.

  • @ChuckDee33 Yep. The song is beautiful and worthy of sacrificing a capo for. It's one of my favorite acoustic songs ever. By the way, I stopped by your channel and subbed. Also, I see that one of your covers is Mckee's "I Will See You Again". If you want to check out a great version of this, come to my channel and see the live version from the Guitar Masters Tour. It's amazing!

  • I really wish I knew what was going on here. Is it night time? Had he been working on it all day? Did he just wake up with the most amazing inspiration? Maybe he had an absolutely amazing day with his Wife and this just burst out of his head? I feel like the story behind this would be just as amazing as the song itself.

  • unbelievable

  • something about this song ... .. .. ..

  • Like like like like like a thousand times like a bajillion trillion times like.....Why didn't I discover acoustic EARLIER???? D:

  • Does anyone know of a capo that would be good for this song? The only ones I can find are full capos or capos that cover only 3 strings which is too short. I know I can can cut the rubber of a normal capo and make it shorter and such but the left over part still blocks me from playing the lowest note of this song. Any ideas?

  • @PrivateLJenkins You can use a standard G7 capo like Owen Van Larkins uses on "Wandering Hands"

  • @dajiaoma77777 Cool, I'll try it out. Thanks!

  • Keep practicing - you'll get better. LOL I'm only kidding.

Fantastic work sir - you are a truly gifted musician! Keep on playing - I think I can speak for everyone when I say that we're loving your musical offerings!

  • music for the soul :)

  • I am really digging this. Heard it on Pandora! :D Yesssss!

  • @MartinGSoyYo hahaha yea so did i. i heard it on youtube before but it became a phantom in the wind.. this is really something huh. great piece.. wish i had tabs.

  • Beautiful

  • Honestly .. I listen to this song when every I feel sad and it makes me cry my heart out everytime especially when I fight with my boyfriend. And this song always lead me back to him.

Such a special song for me .. thank you for producing such great songs : )

  • I can't work out how Antoine makes this percussoion sound (like at 0:25)? Does he hit the strings with fingernails? Is there anyeone who can help me?

  • @malymikolaj Those little nuances are what I love about Antoine's playing the most. His music is so technical while remaining so beautifully musical too. He is just slightly "hitting" that first string in all of the rhythmic strummning. I would not pay too close attention though, it should come out fairly natural if you are trying to learn the song.

  • @malymikolaj Hey! So there is a couple ways I guess you could do this. It's all about experimentation and getting the sound you want. But basically its just a very articulate strum. Antoine has some pretty long nails (uses fake ones sometimes) which probably generate a lot of the sound. When i play this I usually do a like flick or something similar and I get a pretty similar tone. Hope that helps:)

  • What kind of tuning please ? Thank you very much, gently greatings

  • :):):):):)

  • 16 people were looking for lady gaga

  • I wish i could find tabs for this.

  • @McBoothie94 F#ADGBE with a partial capo at the 2nd fret on string 1,2,3,4. it was in the description :P

  • Comment removed

  • amazing!!!

  • This is so sweet that Bieber just couldn't dislike it

  • can someone please link me a tab for this song!?!?!?! i desperately want to learn it but i cannot find a tab anywhere

    thanks

  • It's so beautifull! je suis subjugué a donf quoi! Do you have any tab because I want to play to my girlfriend! I'm sure she can cry hum... at least 3 days! :D You're awesome! (Sorry I'm french and my english is'nt very well)

  • @Atouk1601 you mean 'isn't very good'

  • I was having the shittiest day today, all my usual things to help out failed me. I went with my final option. Listening to some Dufour. Can not begin to explain how much your music helped me out Mr. Dufour. I thank you and truly hope to let you know in person some day. You're the greatest, man:)

  • @traviolios2 sorry for posting my OPINION. I just got mad at all of these people finding somebody to troll with comments about how the person they listen to is way better than this guy.

  • I absolutely love this song, but actually prefer Sungha Jung's cover.

  • i might just get a gf if i'll be able to play this part lol... 2:36

  • why does youtube only show my views?

  • greatness

  • @callsiwel this don't how you talk. It doesn't matter about where he got the song, but how well he played it. Go troll somewhere else and anyone wanting to report him for playing a song can go to hell.

  • @LilWayneMusicGod lilwayne STILL can NOT play better than Antoine Dufour. Mabey in YOUR opinion, but for 95% of the people on this comment thread, Mr. Dufour plays the music WE think is the best. You should have not posted anything on this thread to "troll". Just stick to your wayne and leave Mr. Dufour alone.

  • @LilWayneMetalGod lil wayne is no musician. Rap is not music but people talking about atrocious things. Rap is simply people talking into the microphone with a "beat" that they sing too. This song is music. This song can blow away lilwayne and all of his albums. This song is best. Period.

  • @MrCad357 I agree that Lil Wayne is trash, but dont be so ignorant as to say that Hip Hop isnt music. When done correctly, Hip Hop is one of the most potent forms of social commentary but, just like any other type of music, when it's done poorly it is "simply people talking into a microphone" but it can be so much more than that.

  • guitar's for pussys!

  • @rockzorzlawl so what kind of guitar do you have?

  • the greatest piece of music I ever listened to....shivers down my spine...tears in my eyes...

sometimes there is so much beauty in this world...I just can´t handle it...and this piece definately is too much.

Thank you for playing guitar Mr Dufour

  • This song makes me think of my soulmate Geoff. I love you and miss you.

  • i like it and the best part for me 3:57

  • beautiful!

  • GREAT!!!

  • This song changed my perspective on life.

  • This is how it's supposed to be performed. You care so much about your sound, and it shows. Sungha Jung looks bored, always.

  • type of mic?

  • I am going to admit... this song made me cry!!! those harmonics at the start are so beautiful :')

  • Flawless and beautiful. Very talented =]

  • It's a little bit repetitive.

  • Takes you on a wonderful journey throughout this composition....eargasms all round me thinks ^^

  • This sr. don't fool me!, this song don't belong to him, this belong to Agony an old Amiga 500 game, him just change something and play on guitarra, check your self here:

    youtube.com/watch?v=PWmee0J17w0

  • I would agree with HAMMER... Anyone can be this good. I mean, it all comes down to practice and how much you want it. Some people just don't care to play the guitar. But I have met VERY FEW people that are passionate about something they arent good at. It's all about what you devote your time to.

  • nice

  • Vraiment magnifique : bravo !

  • Antoine, your playing is exceptional and your guitar sounds fantastic.

  • @laius88 it has a smooth hip hop feel to it too, which i like a lot.

  • Antoine, please tell me how you manage to make the capo stay on those strings. Mine squeezes itself off and it's impossible for me to make it stay

  • @arglechewyshoe just put it upside down, As in the part the should be on the back of the neck, on the string. its shorter so it can stay, while having a complete adhesion on the neck from the string part.

you could also get a saw and cut the part that is too long

  • @diabolojo do do that.. they sell 4 string capos

  • @matthewcorley well I was suggesting an option with his current capo, but yeah fine that works too.

  • @arglechewyshoe You'll have to take off the rubber sleeve, put it in a vise, and bend it 'out' slightly. Or buy a 4-string capo (I think that they DO make them). Sorry for the late response. Too many videos and comments to see/read!

  • @arglechewyshoe If you're making one from a regular capo, you'll have to take off the rubber sleeve, put it in a vise, and bend it 'out' slightly (after you cut it). Or buy a 4-string capo (I think that they DO make them). Sorry for the late response. Too many videos and comments to see/read!

  • magnifique monsieur, lol. Making Canada look even better

  • good song.

a lot of you people a fags tho.

  • the passage on 2.10 is incredible. pure technical perfection...

  • Très beau. Continue

  • this is amazing, i love the tone that you captured. you are an amazing acoustic guitarist sir

  • beautiful isnt even good enough of a word for this

  • This song has so much passion, so much depth, it makes me feel a deep appreciation for true music. Bravo!

  • Sometimes words can't describe how much you love that special person in your life.

  • Absolutely beautiful sir...

  • who hit 16 dislikes? get the dirt out of your ears and open your heart... don't just hear this, feel it. it s so amazing, i love his music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @sergiusal Some people dislike this out of rage, or something along those lines. Overwhelming discouragement maybe, after all Antoine is quite the skilled guitarist.

  • @AcousticDreams0 yea... human nature, if he's sooo good, and i'm not, then i'll be a hater... sheeshh...

  • @sergiusal Your choice. :)

  • @AcousticDreams0 i was being ironic man, i meant those people that think like that :))))... hating on others if other excell at something. and antoine is amazing!!!! <3

  • @sergiusal hey, if you believe that you cant do anything like that, you're wrong. ANYONE can do that, if they try hard enough, It's all bout getting up to that sortof skill, but really, this guy studied classical guitar for a few years in quebec, so dont be so worried about judging yourself on your own guitar playing. Everyone has their own speed of skill progression.

  • @TheAwesomeHammer eii man if ANYONE could do that.. there would be 10 Steve Vai and 23241 Satriani's... not everyone has talent , is all i m sayin. and i wasn t refering neither to capability or will but to people s mentality when they say this music is not nice just because maybe they can't play guitar like him. i was reffering to something else :))).... so take it easy mate. and understand what i was trying to say...

  • Such a beautiful song, a real masterpiece

  • you're the best

  • Tried using a regular capo.... wouldn't work :/

  • @Angealolo Antoine is using a Kyser capo, I'm not sure if he cut it or not but it could be that the neck is wide (if it's too thin the capo slides off). I cut mine (with a saw), but if you don't want to cut it, Dunlop capos do a good job as 5 string capos, not sure about 4.

  • i think i faved this piece hundred times...everytime i watch this i fave.. incredible and meaningful music...

  • Is the Tuning you told within the capo or without?

  • @FireIwithoutIwire I am trying to cut down on sarcasm, so I'll just ask you if it makes any sense at all to deviate downward from standard tuning one whole step, then put a capo on the second fret to get back up to standard tuning? The capo allows him to get an open F#m7 tuning (or E sus2 sus4) while only retuning one string (6th) up one whole step. Pure genious in bringing out the Dorian mode. Methinks you might have more to learn about the guitar than where someone else puts his fingers...

  • @jabrookesq hey, im a realy expierienced in guitar ;) - every day 4 hours and since 12 years, but i was new to open tuning my friend ;) and i didnt get, if the tuning was meant with or without the capo, now i know better ;). And english is not my language, thats the second thing! :)

  • @FireIwithoutIwire Es tut mir lied, mein Freund! Although for having practiced (if you are 20 now, judging my your video) 11,648 hours, one might think you'd have more than a single video of you playing on Youtube. Perhaps you might want to start practicing for 4 hours per day instead of messing around with a guitar for 4 hours a day. But if you enjoy it, that's all that really matters.

    Tschuss, mein Bruder im Musik!

  • @jabrookesq i dont want to argue if i am a good musician or not, but i know playing my guitar relaxes me, and is my biggest hobby......... if you base my knowledge on this little video, that i uploaded for fun, you are missjudging me in my eyes ;). You are playing very well by the way ;) - As you said, the most relevant thing is to enjoy the guitar ;) keep playing!

  • @jabrookesq There is a very good reason for tuning down a whole step and capo-ing the 2nd fret. It makes it easier to play because you are essentially shortening the neck, decreasing the fret width and lowering the action. Which would be very useful to players with smaller hands/shorter arms or arthritis. So methinks you need to learn more about the mechanics of the guitar rather than the theory.

    Sincerely,

    Your Friendly Youtube Troll

  • awesome

  • Absolutely floored by the beautifulness this tune has in every way...

  • His wife is one of the luckiest women ever.

  • what's with the bandana?

  • @mahabang to remove the ringing sound i think

  • This is music at its finest!

  • I love the bed head. You can tell he was completely feeling this song, and HAD to record it right then.

  • Il a du talent. Bravo.

  • @angriffeins Il a BEAUCOUP de talent. Trop talent peut etre. :P

  • This song really gets me. One of my favorites by Antoine and fingerstyle in general.

  • Anyone know what kind of mic that is?

  • an expensive mic^^ lol

  • Gracias cielo, por este descubrimiento, por todo lo que me haces sentir, gracias por existir...Ra.

  • One of my favourites by Antoine

  • my other being 30 minutes in london

  • beautiful beautiful. i've listened to this song maybe once or twice a month for the past 3 years. never get sick of it

  • @abannana1184 Hah, I've listened to it several times daily for the past three years. Nice.

  • Yeah, the CandyRat guys really never have any songs that go stale. I've been listening to the same few albums from McKee and Dufour for the past 2 years pretty much everywhere I go xD. Can't wait for their new releases

  • same dude these guys stuff dosent get old and if it does just look at a live version wat i love bout these guys is how they jazz things up live like dufour adds alot of cool little touches to his songs when he plays live (TRUE ARTIST)

  • man he better have gotten some for this.

  • can anyone tell me where to get a tab for this?

  • the CandyRat (his record label) website. Not entirely free though.

  • Holy reverb! :s

    Like the tune, though. :)

  • @ueberRegenbogen I do not hear any reverb.

  • Just look at the expression on his face while playing. So passionate about his music...

  • beautiful! catchy! my mind is gone!

  • Great song and better perfomance.

he uses a partial capo on first four strings, but in what key are the srtrings?

  • It's in the description :P

  • Annie is loved

  • Can someone explain to me how to get my capo on those 4 strings without it slipping off?

  • if you cant figure that out i dont think you should attempt this song lol

  • Comment removed

  • I put something behind the neck like a piece of paper or card. It seems to grip better. Hope it helps.

  • an easier way to get in this tuning is to tune your guitar to EGDGBE and then put a capo on the 2nd fret on ALL the strings. same thing

  • Yes, but then the tabbing would be different. Only by 2 frets, but still.

  • It's a different kind of capo.

  • make sure you are using a standard capo instead of a classical capo.

  • @cimanaxe G7th Capo works wonders.

  • Awesome, good call. Just checked out their website, I may have to pick one up.

  • great song dude keep it up

  • Awesome song Antoine :)

  • I have definitely taken up the bandana on the neck.. My guitar would be naked without it.. Antoine you would be happy to know I got rid of the white guitar and got a nice before market gibson.. No stamps. Thing is beautiful!!

  • nobody here happens to know what mic that is do they? i've seen it more than once but can't remember the make. thanks. great piece antoine.

  • goosebumps. Beautiful composition Antoine!!

  • woh, this looks kindof like the set up i have in my home studio, nuts, and all you musicians should try the bandada or hair band around the neck it really makes that irritating ringing go away! thanks antoine, lol

  • que hermosa!!!!

  • Amazing as usual. I don't mean to sound cheesy in any way, but i barely discovered your music about a year ago. I'm a musician myself and you're definitely an inspiration. I can only hope to be able to play or write anything this beautiful someday

  • Completely irrelevant, but you look like the "Can you hear me now?" guy from the Verizon commerical!

    Ridiculously amazing, btw.

  • Beautiful piece

  • How does he do the harmonics with his right hand at 2:32~ D:

  • bigpotatos, they're often called "artificial" harmonics, even though they're not really artificial at all, merely modified. You'll have to google for proper explanations. But basically, you can think of the left hand as being like a capo, shortening the length of the string, and then you place the index finger lightly in the now modified 12th fret-harmonic place (for example if left hand is at 2nd fret, right index finger goes to 14th). Then, the thumb is used to do the plucking.

  • Thanks much, pal :D

  • BIgpotatos, he simply plucks the string with his RIGHT thumb and places his RIGHT index finger over the proper fret. Only certain areas of the string can ring out harmonics. Panserborne is on the right track with his response, but Antoine doesn't apply that "exact" technique in this song.

  • the technique is called a "harp harmonic"

  • Thanks mate

  • I love how he wrote this song 4 his wife thats so romatic....~~~~~5/5

  • Oh my gosh! Your amazingly talented~!

And I just love the begining to this song!

    That deserve's a 5/5, subscription, and Favorite!

  • I LOVE this..it is fantastic

  • i dont even knw the guitar can sound lik tat ( the beginnin of the song) any1 knw hw to make it sound lik tat??? i mean hw to play it....

  • if ur refering to the very high notes, those are harmonics, they are produced by just touching the strings right above the metal on mainly the 5th 7th 12th 19th and 24th frets.

  • i tried on the 7th fret and it sounds great....thx a lot for ur help..xD

  • I'm new to guitar and dont understand the tuning

  • He has basically tuned the 6th string up from E to F#

  • how do u know when ur string is F#?

  • You can get tuners that tune to sharps/flats as well as your basic E, A, D ect...

My electro-acoustic has one built in.

  • Find another place on the fret board where you can to fret an F# and then just tune the low E to it. Most good chromatic tuners will also find it for you, but it can be done without one.

  • without the capo, he tuned the strings from the thickest to the smallest string F# A D G B E , then he put the capo on the 4 thinest strings only

  • awesome song! im gonna buy ur album!! :D

  • he plays harmonics TOO easily!!!

  • the part from 0:55 to 0:58... i love it!

not to mention the whole piece!

  • never thought just guitar alone could sound so good :)

  • Dufour fan since '06!
