A physician and the semi-illiterate CNA s at a nursing home in San Diego over medicated and addicted my Mom to Vicodin and Norco pain killers that she suffered brain damage from the drugs aned could not gai consciousness.

As my Mom left the nursing home for the Ms. Senior Oklahoma Pageant, we were handed a letter that they are kicking her out. Even though we have paid $4,000 a month they now want $32,000 dollars more. This is how we treat Veterans widows. Love this country!!

People everywhere need to write their representatives and have the laws change in all 50 states! Every citizen should be allowed to specify, designate and appoint their own guardian/conservator and this should be made retroactive to cover everyone currently in a nursing home!

I'm very sorry to hear about your mother, how is she now? I am a health care worker, nurses aid for 20 yrs... and I totally understand where your comming from, I see this come very close to happening in the state I live in which is MO... but I had no idea of the laws in Alabama... what would happen if you just walked in there and took her yourself?

The courts in Alabama are corrupt! Power and control was taken away by the courts! The nursing home is corrupt and greedy! They want the money and in Alabama you can't designate your own guardian/conservator. This is done by corrupt judges and greedy lawyers representing even more greedy nursing homes. Its a billion dollar rip off!

Why does she not live with you??? My mother, who is legally blind and diabetic, lives with me. It's a sacrifice we make to keep her safe. I ask again, why is she in a nursing home that keeps her prisoner?

You have not been listening. A Probate Judge made her a ward of the State of Alabama. All power and control was taken away. This was done so they get the money, the property, everything. In Alabama you cannot designate your own guardian/conservator. This leads to a corrupt system and exploitation of the elderly!
