If you have vegas 9 or any non "c" version you need a codec that excepts m2ts files. If not, get sony vegas 8c version since it excepts those files.

i've never had problems with vegas. i have pro 8 and it's never had problems with m2ts. you might want to capture in mpeg4 however, that might get rid of the problem

Another gotcha is that Vegas 9 has a file size limitation. I recorded my son playing Der Riese for 2 hours (level 36!) and the file was 8gb. Vegas chokes when I try to open it.

sometimes if the files are really big and you are running other things on your computer it will crash. im sure i've read somewhere that you need at least 4gb ram to render in HD.
