Good tutorial... This helped me a lot with an issue I was having with Windows DVD Maker squishing my videos to a 4:3 and making the final burn terrible quality and unwatchable. Quality still seems to lack a bit here, I mean I know its not a real DVD movie, but is this the best quality I can get out of burning shows/movies onto a disc? Any other suggestions? Say I have multiple AVI files around 700MB in size, does burning them to DVD maintain this size or does it decompress it? Ultimately, can I fit 6-7 of these files on a single 4.7GB DVD with their original playback quality or will quality by impacted the more files I try to squeeze on the DVD?

How can I change this? Or is this a protection that is on the new Sherlock Holmes movie (in theatres). Also, which avi do you suggest? There are several types to convert to. I sometimes get mkv. I am using Nero Vision like you do. Is it really "normal" that it takes about 4 hours to encode/burn a movie with a duration of about 01:50 (HH:MM)?

@MK3B4YV6 That sounds about right, adding a menu takes SOOOO much longer, I typically have a 10 hour burn time on a 2:30 (HH:MM) movie when I add a menu.

Running time of the movie was about 01:50.

I have 4 .avi files with seizes ranging from 720 - 780 MB (All files in total not more than 3.2 GB in seize), but I'm finding it impossible to fit into a 4.7GB Empty DVD when attempting to make a DVD movie on Nero Vision 10. It(Nero Vision) only allows just one add from all the 4 .avi video file (750MB - with only 1:35mins clip lenght). Can anybody pls tell me what the problem is?

D capacity bar that indicates the total amount of disc space used, fills up just with 1 add of video file(750MB).

Hi, great video. I subscribed. I THINK I watched one of yours about a Mac, but it didn't talk about how to get the best quality or refer to any applicable software. I have a newer imac (mid-2010) I'm importing avi files from a digital camcorder. I'm using final cut pro express - not sure which version but I purchased it in 2008. so i download the xilisoft avi to dvd converter.if i burn something with that,than the dvd player plays it.but there are this annoying watermarks on the screen,because i havent bought the program.do you know,where i could get a crack for it or something?because i dont want to buy it,and the serials ive found wont work.

Nero Sucks. i have spent loads of time using Nero and for the effort that you have to go through to get dvds that MIGHT play in dvd players and might not its not worth it to me. Windows DVD maker is godlike in terms of easy, fast, reliable, and versatile. not alot of options but the options you need. only down side is you cant download more dvd menu templates.

I used DVD Flick to burn an avi file to dvd to play on a home dvd player, it worked grand but when it comes to a certain point it just freezes, then restarts. On my laptop I'm able to play the dvd and skip past this point, meaning that it runs fine again, but obviously I can't do this on the dvd. Was wondering if I fucked something up during the burning process or if I just need to try again etc?

This is the stupidest thing I ever heard, yes perhaps is gonna give better aspect ratio of 16:9, of what is it, but has nothing to do with quality: while you still recording in mpeg2 format- this determines the quality of pixel-rate and bit-rate per second and not 16:9.

@jahfeyjoe Your computer is probably lagging because your running hundreds of processes in the background from all of the programs you are running, uninstall the stuff you use rarely and use ctrl+alt+del to kill processes you dont need. Img burn is best for games and programs, if I was you try and find yourself a copy of Nero for making DVD's, I use Nero 7 and it works fine for me

second movied took 4 hours start to finish...this is ridiculous. i have a quadcore pc and 8 gigs of ram, yet its only running around 36% processor, and 3gb of ram while transcoding...if nero would use all availible resources, it would be a helluvalot faster
