Does anybody know, what happened to Dill Katz? Last time I saw him was with Ian Carr´s Nucleus in 1988 by a time when he also played in `District Six. I checked different sources, but there´s no trace by him since....
there's nothing wrong with this stuff. but no, it's not jazz by my personal definition. just because because there is an improvised solo, doesn't mean it's jazz. by your reasoning any rock or blues band could be jazz. in my view an improvised solo isn't enough. what is missing is communication. the band parts are composed/arranged from start to finish. there is little going on as far as every musician improvising as a group. this is pop and thats okay. i didn't say it was bad, just not jazz.
As to whether it's jazz, does the category really matter? And to paraphrase Louis Armstrong, 'any cat can play a solo, but it's hard to play a good lead'
I know this song since the early 80's and really love it. Quite often I wondered about the kid the song was dedicated to. So, after I was happy that your father created a CD of the "Live in Concert 1980" which I wished to get for years I'm now happy to see a link to the real Annie. Good luck to you and your plans and my regards to your parents.
I saw this line-up of parphernalia in Newcastle in the early 80's - hve loved Barbara T since I first heard her on ALWebber's "variations". Seen various icarnations of paraphernalia over the years since. Fantastic to see this old clip and hear this classic again. Thanks for posting
Paraphernalia is still playing today, a gig is happening in Japan in late january. Dave Ball is now on the bass, Peter Lemer is now on keyboards, and Billy Thompson is on violin, and I believe paraphernalia will have a YouTube channel soon.
I saw them play this round about 1980. I'd forgotten how brilliant they were live. The Selfish Giant is still my favoutite though...er.. or Frilly Bolero.. or Aliyah... or Scrummage... or... er
So what happens at 4.54? And why?

Don't worry he's still alive and playing as well as he always did. You might catch him down at the 606. He's usually there with his quartet!

Hi.
Es ist doch "Little Annie Ooh". Ich habe gerade eine alte Cassette in der Hand, dort spielt sie genau dieses Stück mit Ansage.

This was my first contact to this strange great music called "Jazz" - and I love it still.
Barbara (and especially this song) got a special place in my heart.
Thanks for posting!!
