i fukn love english indie music..best in the world by a distance..but a shout out to the old kings of leon an the strokes to...i just think the english underground indie bands have more quality in quantity if that makes sense?:)
I can remember listening to the libertines when I was little(er) whenever I had to drive somewhere with my mum. It's amazing how a band that has had a number of controversies, but still not very known amongst a few teens these days, can influence people's points of views and still be so poetic about it.
@ardiweezybaby The song is about the week of the May Day riots in London in 2001. Anti-capitalist protesters eventually turned to violence and vandalised numerous banks and other businesses which fit the capitalist agenda, such as Tesco. Then they had the shit kicked out of them by the police. The line "we'll die in the class we were born, and that's a class of our own my love" is particularly significant in the context of the song.
@ardiweezybaby...... As capitalism tends to put people in financial and social classes. I'm not sure where you're from, but this is particularly apparent in the UK.
@ardiweezybaby So while it is true that under a capitalist government you can be born into a class that is difficult to escape, the lyrics here are saying that the real class we are born into is a class of our own, not the one we inherit from the capitalist financial and social hierarchy.
my heart is longing for them to come back together. btw KAiROS's - The Castaway is the perfect song for petes funeral. i can hardly bear to think about it though.

Definitely would say that Pete Doherty is the best song writer of our time, before him it was John Lennon.
