I wish communism would work. It's so rational and beautiful, particularly to an evolved mind. But most humans are not evolved and not rational. Jealousy, envy, greed, and fear take over. In a small group, these can be morally held in check by the system. My company is effectively communist. I'm payed equal salary as a partner with no differentiation for merit. The greatest benefit of the system is when there is common purpose, without competition, with strength and focus of will.

Idk, but this anthem, even though it's the Soviet version, it inspires me more than our own, sadly. The reason is because that this anthem is sung by many, as a nation stading together, strong and proud, while ours is sung by an individual, and it kinda interprets as a nation to aquire personal wealth and personal fame, while the Soviets stick together, win together, lose together, and die together.
Communism may have a noble goal of "everyone being equal", but it does not work in society, because nothing encourages you to help the society itself.
Then again Socialism should in some countries be encouraged "USA" Cough*, and absolute capitalism is not good either since it creates a class society based on hierarchy.

It was Stalingrad that crippled Germany beyond repair. Even the rather pitiful declaration of total war in February 1943 couldn't save the Nazis. Really, there was very little materiel help given to the Soviets by the Western Allies.

America for example sent hundreds of thousands of trucks and airplanes not just for combat duty but for logistical support as well since the Soviet factories where mainly focused on producing armored vehicles.

Of course, I acknowledge the assistance given to the USSR. Thousands of British merchant sailors died in U-Boat attacks on the Arctic Convoys, the bombing of Dresden. But I don't accept that the equipment sent to the Soviets substantially helped them. For instance, air warfare was far less relevant on the Eastern Front.

..Not to sound like a political puppet, but Communism seems to be one of those things that looks better on paper than in application. In small communities, yes, it would be ideal, if implimented correctly. It just seems unrealistic to a superpower like China, Russia, Cuba, and so fourth. I wish communism would work. It's so rational and beautiful, particularly to an evolved mind. But most humans are not evolved and not rational. Jealousy, envy, greed, and fear take over. In a small group, these can be morally held in check by the system. My company is effectively communist. I'm payed equal salary as a partner with no differentiation for merit. The greatest benefit of the system is when there is common purpose, without competition, with strength and focus of will.

@blacbraun I don't accept that. The adaptability of the Soviets, and their seemingly endless supply of manpower is what won them the war. As Monty later said: "Rule 1, on page 1 of the book of war, is 'do not march on Moscow'."
It was Stalingrad that crippled Germany beyond repair. Even the rather pitiful declaration of total war in February 1943 couldn't save the Nazis. Really, there was very little materiel help given to the Soviets by the Western Allies.

@BasilFawlty4444 I'm not saying that the Soviets wouldn't have won anyhow, but just saying you are not accepting that the allied help to the communists had little effect, because what you don't like Americans or whatever?, is a little shortsighted in my opinion. America for example sent hundreds of thousands of trucks and airplanes not just for combat duty but for logistical support as well since the Soviet factories where mainly focused on producing armored vehicles.

Of course, I acknowledge the assistance given to the USSR. Thousands of British merchant sailors died in U-Boat attacks on the Arctic Convoys, the bombing of Dresden. But I don't accept that the equipment sent to the Soviets substantially helped them. For instance, air warfare was far less relevant on the Eastern Front.

Whether these elites be in the government or corporations makes no difference, the goal of Socialism is to place power in the hands of people themselves... However, as we've seen numerous times in the past, human nature has outperformed the theoretical elements of it, leading to all of the failings of capitalism on an even grander scale. Instead of a people's government, a typical "Socialist" government becomes a mega-monopoly.
If someone figured out the little details, it would work. But they haven't yet.

@FlashHawk4 Just take Spain's 1936 Civil War and Revolution, where the peasants and workers assumed collective control over their factories and farms. In the case of Spain, such a system was never even given a chance. It was crushed and dismantled by outside force.
The same can be said of Lenin's Soviets here in Russia. The word Soviet in the Russian language, means "workers councils"...

However, this never happened. The harsh conditions of the civil war prompted a centralization of the war effort, and thus economic management was bureaucratized not collectivized... The situation further deteriorated during Stalin, when our country again became an authoritarian dictatorship.

I myself am Russian, and I know all to well about the situation during the Soviet era. The reason my conviction as a Communist has not been shaken is because I am aware what Socialism and Communism actually are.
I believe the Soviet Union's example failed not because of Socialism, but because of a lack there of.

Instead of capitalism where there are hierarchies and boss figures sitting behind desks, socialism supports the idea of workers controlling both the office and labor aspects of production so they can vote democratically and prevent exploitation. Also paramedics make half as much money as garbage men make in America.

..Not to sound like a political puppet, but Communism seems to be one of those things that looks better on paper than in application. In small communities, yes, it would be ideal, if implimented correctly. It just seems unrealistic to a superpower like China, Russia, Cuba, and so fourth. On top of this, it has always resulted somehow with someone going power hungry. NOT trying to upset anyone here, just an opinion. Also, I love Russian culture and am 30% Russian myself (heritage of course).
