I shelved my N900 for a Galaxy S2, then gave that to my wife for the Galaxy S2: Skyrocket. I realize that Nokia made this as a developer phone (which I liked), but Nokia still should've stayed supporting it. Maemo5 had a lot of potential.

No-one seems to ever have noticed the IR transmitter on the top near the camera shutter key.

I would love to see an updated N900. Better CPU speed (and dual core) and more RAM.

It gets really sluggish from time to time.

And MMS support as standard, not as now through a third party program that doesn't handle sound and video.

Other than that, I love it.

I really like this review, however why was it labeled as "new 2011" this is like from 2009 I believe. I have this phone and it's amazing. it would still be my primary phone is not for my Nokia n8 having Xenon flash (I go to clubs and bars with friends and need good pictures in dark environments). Anyway please keep in mind the nokia store while not huge is available now since this was an old review. The home screen is landscape only but there's portrait support for most applications you need in.

I have this phone and I love it.

It's also good enough as a phone- it has signal processor for GSM and camera, so don't have to worry about performance- when doing something in background cellular line is always active and has no lags.

But it's of course not only a phone but I wouldn't call it smartphone- the most accurate definition is "Nokia Internet Tablet".

maemo 5 was beast , im typing this with my n900 , the smartphone was only 2 problems , first is not mult touch and second maemo 5 have been completely forgotten by developers , like 1year without new apps or updates

Didn't mention that the FM transmitter can act as a hand free calling in your automobile. And it works wonderfully.

im downloading america's got talent right now as im watching this video, on a good wifi or t-mobile 3.5g, a 350mb file takes 15mins to complete downloading and im not talking about using transmission. n900 ruled with a iron fist from late 2009 and is still going strong.
