This issue is so basic I'm surprised that there's even a debate around the issue. The government naturally has the right to interfere when what two parties do imposes a cost on a third party. In order to balance it our what we simply need to do is reimpose that cost on the two parties, in this case impose some sort of pollution tax on the sale of airplane tickets.

I agree with your argument that bio-fuel in the way they use it now is NOT the solution to our problem (global warming), and only excess or waste material from the farming industry should be used as bio-fuel in smaller scale. However it is absolutely mental to blame the greens for this madness, if you had done your research you would have known that greens oppose growing plants for the exclusive purpose of generating electricity. The European Union law should be changed....

This shows precisely why Socialism cannot work. The intrinsic nature of that biofuel is that x amount of it can be produced on that field-acting as capital-over the long period of three years. That people value what can be made with alternate dispositions of that capital (the field) e.g. wheat is what makes it uneconomic-due to human subjective valuations expressed in exchange i.e. 'demand'-to grow such fuels in terms of money profit. Public ownership of that capital would remove it frm exchange
Why are you linking the issue of biofuels to the Green Party? The Green Party are opposed to biofuels for the very reasons you mention. Caroline Lucas's point was that there is a choice between having a negative impact on the planet or scaling back our use of resources. She didn't make any mention of using biofuels in aviation because that is not the policy of the Green Party of England and Wales who she represents as leader. Please don't misrepresent policy. Its basicaly making high speed alternatives like rail aviliable to travel easily to other places in Britain or Europe where flights are uncessisary, so its more of a state issue rather than the individual citizen. Climate change has been since the dinosaurs were here, if we did not have climate change then the world would not be able to progress well, it needs to go through hot and cold to help life sustain. If the world were really warming up because CO2 then we would be able to grow all the tropical trees in Britain but WE CAN'T because we have not the right temperatures unlike the Romans who managed to grow grapevines in Britain. CO2 makes 0.038% of the Earth's atmosphere and Co2 is what plants breathe

Biofuels are pretty stupid, farmers complaining about inefficiency and not being able to make money isn't really new. If he was sitting on a coal seam he would be saying the same stuff. Does he know how long it takes to make 12 acres of coal or oil? Firstly yes no people aren't dying from climate change in this country but that doesn't mean that people aren't dying or will die from it anywhere. Do not people dying of increased droughts in parts of Africa or from flooding in small island nations count as dying from climate change?
Secondly if this is trying to imply that the green party support the use of bio fuels as an alternative to fossil fuels this is untrue. Bio fuels are largely discredited within environmental movements and the greens support the use of truly renewable energy sources which are much more efficient than biofuels.
BTW I'm Not saying that i'm a BNP supporter (far from it) but we can do without this kind of strategy. Im not even that much of a believer in climate change, but much of the green party policy appeals to me: jobs, housing and other social issues.

lol if you have the time look at Caroline Lucas's wikipedia page. She claims to understand global warming, yet her degree is in ENGLISH LITERATURE. Whats more, she has long been an activist about things she does not understand, including for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament which incidentally was funded by the none other than the UK communist party.
There is absolutely no way that this communist bitch understands the computer models which are supposed to indicate man-made climate change (when they can't even predict the weather for the next day), yet she acts as if the subject is not debatable. The actual measurements without distortion by computer models, which incidentally virtually none of the scientists who are quoted to believe in global warming understand, do not indicate that man-made quantities of Co2 causes significant warming.

It would take a massive step forward in technology for it to even play a small part in future energy solutions. one of the concerns ihave with ukip is somewhat highlighted by this video. that is that the subjects of energy production, peak oil and impending shortfalls in british energy production dont even appear to be on their radar. these are serious issue which will significantly affect the security of the nation, not to mention the quality of life of it's inhabitants, yet here we have a ukip guy just pointing figures and shouting stupid rather than actually attempting to contribute to a solution.

i have done some reading, which is why i'm concerned. as i recall your website states you dont believe in windfarms and instead will embrace the nuclear option. bearing in mind the 10 year lead time building nuclear plants and the LCPD kicking in in 6 years time (with it's resultant plant closures which have already been confirmed) that suggests to me your plans arent exactly thought through. not to mention all your policies seem to spend and spend, with no apparent way to balance those books.

This issue is so basic I'm surprised that there's even a debate around the issue. The government naturally has the right to interfere when what two parties do imposes a cost on a third party. In order to balance it our what we simply need to do is reimpose that cost on the two parties, in this case impose some sort of pollution tax on the sale of airplane tickets.

This shows precisely why Socialism cannot work. The intrinsic nature of that biofuel is that x amount of it can be produced on that field-acting as capital-over the long period of three years. That people value what can be made with alternate dispositions of that capital (the field) e.g. wheat is what makes it uneconomic-due to human subjective valuations expressed in exchange i.e. 'demand'-to grow such fuels in terms of money profit. Public ownership of that capital would remove it frm exchange

Why are you linking the issue of biofuels to the Green Party? The Green Party are opposed to biofuels for the very reasons you mention. Caroline Lucas's point was that there is a choice between having a negative impact on the planet or scaling back our use of resources. Its basicaly making high speed alternatives like rail aviliable to travel easily to other places in Britain or Europe where flights are uncessisary, so its more of a state issue rather than the individual citizen. Biofuels are pretty stupid, farmers complaining about inefficiency and not being able to make money isn't really new. If he was sitting on a coal seam he would be saying the same stuff. Does he know how long it takes to make 12 acres of coal or oil? There aren't any truly green sources of energy, it's a question of which have the least impact for the maximum output, and how we can change our patterns of energy consumption to make them more sustainable.

Bio fuels are largely discredited within environmental movements and the greens support the use of truly renewable energy sources which are much more efficient than biofuels.

@oconnorthelegend I never said I supported the greens, actually I'm voting lib-dems, but I support green policies. You make bold statements for someone who sounds pretty stupid. Honestly, whatever the driving factor, the concept of green and sustainable energy (and thus energy independence from Russia and the middle east) and economy is the right moral standpoint to take. Yes, if you disagree with that, then you are wrong, always and without question.

lol if you have the time look at Caroline Lucas's wikipedia page. She claims to understand global warming, yet her degree is in ENGLISH LITERATURE. Whats more, she has long been an activist about things she does not understand, including for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament which incidentally was funded by the none other than the UK communist party.
God help us if she ever gets into power.

There is absolutely no way that this communist bitch understands the computer models which are supposed to indicate man-made climate change (when they can't even predict the weather for the next day), yet she acts as if the subject is not debatable. The actual measurements without distortion by computer models, which incidentally virtually none of the scientists who are quoted to believe in global warming understand, do not indicate that man-made quantities of Co2 causes significant warming.

@matchbox555 unfortunately hydrogen is not the answer, it takes more energy to produce and store hydrogen than is produced by it in a fuel cell. It would take a massive step forward in technology for it to even play a small part in future energy solutions. Currently, only 3rd gen biodiesel seems to show sufficient promise to replace aviation fuel. Though I reserve the right to change my opinion.

Yes this does make me think about what the Greens would actually do if they got into power. They want to ban people flying to second homes by the sound of it -- what else would they ban? And the bloke in the field has a good point if those few bales did indeed take three years to grow.

Caroline also makes the point about second homes. UKIP would say that this is our right to liberty but is it our right to go to Spain, Bulgaria (both of which have become so accessible because of the EU) and buy property and price locals out, which is also happening in places such as Cornwall and Wales.
People should also get their facts right about Green EU policy. The Green Party are opposed to the Lisbon Treaty because it undermines democracy at a local level.

UKIP obviously are clearly not at all familiar with the old liberal idea of the danger of licence ie. one cannot infringe on the liberties of others. So how are they promoting this here? Caroline is right to say that those who are wealthy enough to fly contiually are indeed infringing on other's liberty, such as those in Bangladesh where the effects of a near 3C increase in global tempretures caused by CO2 emissions (which aviation contributes to significantly) are already killing people.

caroline lucas in my MEP. i wrote to her today to register my disappointment about lisbon. - i have to respect her views on climate change as i write, and i quoted small is beautiful by ef schumacher - a book greens love - about how smaller countries are greener (ie get rid of the EU).

You mention Mars-this is a planet incapable of supporting life, much closer to the Sun and with a totally different atmospheric composition. To compare the Earth to Mars is ridiculous and testament to how people like cherry-pick to the most extreme degree of stupidity.

one of the concerns ihave with ukip is somewhat highlighted by this video. that is that the subjects of energy production, peak oil and impending shortfalls in british energy production dont even appear to be on their radar. these are serious issue which will significantly affect the security of the nation, not to mention the quality of life of it's inhabitants, yet here we have a ukip guy just pointing figures and shouting stupid rather than actually attempting to contribute to a solution.

i have done some reading, which is why i'm concerned. as i recall your website states you dont believe in windfarms and instead will embrace the nuclear option. bearing in mind the 10 year lead time building nuclear plants and the LCPD kicking in in 6 years time (with it's resultant plant closures which have already been confirmed) that suggests to me your plans arent exactly thought through. not to mention all your policies seem to spend and spend, with no apparent way to balance those books.

all our plans are fully costed, as is explained in the manifesto. and a ukip gov would persue a rapid nuclear build up and do away with ineffecient and expensive windfarms the power will be made up with coal untill the nuclear is completed whislt investing in new energy technology that will be benificial to the UK

so the manifesto states 50% of total energy to come from nuclear within 10-15 years. then when i raise shortfalls before then "oh we'll build some coal" so are you planning to close these coal plants you're going to build after the 10-15 years is up? despite them having 30 odd years of usefulness left in them? nowhere in the policy does it mention peak oil or 2015 (LCPD), so putting all that together can only mean that whoever wrote the policy didnt actually know what they were talking about.

a combination of energy sources will be used to stock up the energy shortfall,the coal powerstaions would be allowed to run their full life time. gas stations would be decomisions and not rebuilt. ukip is comited to wean the nation of oil in anyway it can & to make its use far more efficient and seeing as we are UKIP, any eu directive will be void and null. and we are campaining to make sure the eu directives damage the uk as litle as possible, and the people that wronte it know more than you.

we are in dialog with several industries, but things are not looking that rosey in terms of the enforcement of the directive. we are also working with and campainging for the expansion of nuclear, with their own loby and the constructing of replacement coal powerstaions in the south east of england.
