cael was the best collegiate wrestler there ever was, and I'd imagine he lost at the international level because it's a completely different game, there are different scoring rules, different rules on positioning at the beginning of rounds, and different policies on "stalling" whether standing or on the ground.

In my personal opinion, Collegiate wrestling is much better, though I was always a mat wrestler myself, so I dislike the idea of a mostly standing oriented wrestling such as freestyle.

yeah I've only been wrestling for 5 years and im only ranked 9th in my state..... but all im saying is that he was wrestling like he didn't want the gold. I honestly didn't even know he was wrestling for the gold in 2000 but know that i know that i have even less respect for him. I have no idea how you could be at that point twice in your life and not even take a shot the entire match after you lost once already. you might know more then me.. but the way he wrestled isn't what wrestlings about

Most likely that he has many other priorities. Not many people realize what Olympic athletes have to do. Its very hard to support a family and yourself while still training hard for your sport.

exactly. he took over as the head coach at Iowa State in '06 and it is entirely hard to train for the Olympics and fully commit himself to coaching as well. I think he is the head coach at Penn State now
