  • Why does this guy lift the bins by hand? I would use the lifter. It's a like and a fav. 5 stars.

  • @Binboy97 are you serious, use the lifter and you die, you'll be out there all friggen day, it's only bottles man, light as

  • @Binboy97 quicker.

  • must have missed this one. I love how they empty these manually. Who would have thought manual collection was more violent on bins than automation LOL oh and BTW now I want a 32/120L Wheelie bin in yellow REALLY bad haha I wish companies here seperated each material like this. Rather than co mingle in 90% of its locations

  • @3amrepmike3 Yeh dumping them manually is breaking the rules, but cuts the run down heaps compared to using the lifter constantly. Yeh the bins can really get smashed around =] Won't be much longer until all of Sydney has commingled recycling; one council changed early this year, another changed weeks ago and another is changing soon too... this'll leave 9 councils :/

  • @MitchellM15 so are they just going to use the same bins but have residents set them out as needed with mixed recyclables or swap them out of a 240L? Also do the residents set there bins in the center of the road or did a worker do that to make things easier? centainly dont have to worry about a car hitting them as there bright yellow!

  • @3amrepmike3 I am not sure about what they will do when it comes to bins, because each house has two bins (one paper, one bottles) at the moment and I reckon they're getting pretty old too. Chances are when they change they'll just give residents brand new bins, I'm guessing either 120L or 140L... just depends on the council. Also the runner placed everything in the centre of the street for a quick pick-up. Would be considered dangerous having bins there too long, even with the bright yelllow :D

  • great vid! nice wagon too, would be better with a set of automatic lifts to take the strain of the loaders backs though :)

  • Hell of a team right there! A good two man RL team like this is one the most efficient collection methods ever, better than an ASL in many cases.

  • And at 2:30?

  • If you refer to that yellow-cabbed truck parked up in the distance, it isn't another recycle truck.

  • Was there another truck there at 1:50?

  • man hes fast!

  • Is the crushed glass recycled into new glass or used as aggregates in Australia ???

  • The glass that is sorted into colours is made into new glass. The glass that is crushed and can't be colour streamed at the MRF is either sent to a special glass sorting facilitiy in Laverton, VIC to be recycled also, or yes they can be used as agreggates - from bad memory of what I may've read, I think the crushed glass can be used for road bases?

  • Awesome post! Hella fast driver there lol!! So are the full yellow bins newer or the ones with only the yellow lids? haha packer's even slower than the lifter! Well anyways, terrific vid, definite fav and I'd say it deserves a feat. also :)

  • Thanks for the praise and comment =] The full yellow ones are the older bins, meaning the yellow-lidded are the newest.

  • Yeah that's what I figured for some reason, guess so you can just swap out the lids whenever necessary, don't have to make different colored 'bodies' of the bins.

  • Awesome video! Gotta love those bottles getting smashed up.

  • Great job Mitch! I like how they raise the lifter to keep the recyclables from going all over the street. Why were the bins from the right side of the street in the middle of the road? And I like the bright yellow bins!

  • Thanks! The first time I did a bit of bottles route on an RL, I didn't understand the concept of raising the lifter to avoid spillage... so I learnt the hard way when glass and plastic bottles went all over the street lol While the driver was doing a few stops in a previous street, the runner was setting up all these bins in the middle of the street so they were ready for a quick collection.

  • Great video Mitch!

btw, everytime when you filme garbage trucks, what did hauler say to you normally?

  • Sorry are you asking about what the drivers say to me when I film the trucks?

  • Yes, what did the driver say to you when you film the truck most of the time.

  • Oh usually they just ask what the videos are for and why I'm interested in trucks.

  • Nice vid i like how this council has rl`s for garbage and recycling

  • thats so common here

  • Awesome Work ( Y ) I love the JM Series trucks, there like soo cute hahah :D and they operate very well for a small truck :)

  • I love how the driver pops the parking brake and is out of the truck before it stops completely. Thats the sign of a true trashman! Been there, Done that!

  • love the manual lifting! 5 stars and fav

  • very nice post 5 stars and fav* :D

  • awsum as

  • where do recyclables in Australia go after they are baled and ready for market. i mean as in which countries

  • I know that Visy sells there paper&cardboard bales to China.

  • cool. thanks

  • As said above a lot of paper and cardboard goes to China, but in addition to that China takes a lot of the plastic materials too, due to their large demand for raw materials to accomodate their heavy manufacturing industries. However, obviously certain regions of Australia keep the materials for their own manufacturing uses and we import to another variety of countries particularly in Europe.

  • cool. thanks

  • Great job! Watching them lift with their backs just looks painful. I always tried to get under the bins and lift with my legs. When I was working, they told us they "couldn't" speed up the tippers, either because management wouldn't allow it, or it would "cause the tipper to break more often." Excellent video 5*

  • Yer all that lifting would definitely take it's toll on the body! I know what you mean about using the legs, I guess you gotta have a lot of muscle down there to lift some of this heavy shit... sometimes just gotta go with the back :/

I'm sure there're some kind of safety issues to do with speeding up lifters, can always find something wrong with it haha Apparently when you speed up lifters they do break more often... perhaps due to more pressure on the pump + hydraulics?

  • nice view of the packer

  • here in northern virginia it is common for private collectors to manually lift the bins. nice video

  • always loved these little mjs!

  • cool mate 5 stars and faved.!
