I can read in your eyes that the both of you dont know how to cook tempeh. who told you to prepare tempeh this way. I think you both will never enjoy the taste of tempeh how it should be tasting. Im afraid that if people who never had tempeh before and take over your way of preparing it will be forever dissapointed in tempeh because they never learn how it really should taste. i really really think your taking yourself tooo serious with this one.
Thanx for posting. I was going to say that it's quite easy to make your own tempeh which is a totally different product than commercial tempeh. Also I have a tip for cooking Quinoa. 1.5 cups of water to 1 cup of grain. Wash the grain well. Put the grain in cold water and bring to a full boil. Shut the grain off and cover with a tight lid. 20 minutes later you should have perfect quinoa with all of the liquid absorbed. No need to cook it more than that.
I'm so glad you put this up. I found I had to steam/boil it first also. I have never tried to pan fry it for so long. Maybe that's why my flavors never quite meld. Thanks so much. Plus, good to know there is a veggie blend version of tempeth. I have not found that in my stores. I will keep looking for it.
They talk to much just for cooking one piece of tempeh,i think they not really know how to cook tempeh, cause I've seen a lot of way to cook tempeh in my country. Tempeh is my country traditional food.
when cooking tempeh, I'd really recommend cutting it before cooking. It gives the flavors more surface area to be absorbed and allows for more browning. Also, take it easy on the oil--tempeh soaks up oil really quickly. One way of counteracting the tendency to add oil is to make a sauce of water, soy sauce, and what ever spices you want and then cook the tempeh in that until it forms into a glaze (you do need to add something with sugar in it for it to glaze, however, such as maple syrup).
What you cooking, guys???? tempe really tasty food and healthy, better you stir fried tempe, chopped like dice size, fried first garlic, onion, and chop red chili, afterward put tempe stir well, put one bayleaves and 1cm galangal and give coconut milk, and give salt, pepper for seasoning or vegetable stock...that is it you enjoy tempe
some indonesians cook it that way... anyway just to say...the proper way to pronounce tempeh is 'tame-payh' ..just thought i'd share

You're a delightful couple and it's a joy to watch you preparing the tempeh. Bon apetit!

unless u2 are in your 90's, you don't look like healthy vegetarians to me. I don't believe this is a healthy recipe. I would not recommend to anyone.

Seems to me that this is a way to spoil tempeh. In my opinion, it is only cooked properly when you do it the Indonesian way!

Nice use of tempeh. I agree about the tofu. I never use it. Just tempeh and miso...
