that benchmark is so freaking weak it tells you nothing you can have 70 fps in the benchmark and have like 20 avg in the game due to traffic and particles like rain and so on this benchmarking program is a joke

i got 2 of the Ati HD 4670 IceQ 1Gb, and my average FPS is 30-40... didnt know the 9800gt sucked that much...

GTA IV needs a better CPU + System Memory + GPU to play unless you got only lags.!

if you have already installed latest patch 1.0.4 then you can see the requirement descriptions in the settings.

mainly GTA IV needs a Dual Core or Higher Processor if you think to play gta iv on Single core then you should at least buy a High End GPU like GTX270 Series or 285 / ATI HD4800 Series but some times you got lags in 4850 like 9500gt if you play on Single Core PRoce.

but only ATI graphic cards because HD 4000 series got Hardware Tessellation so DirectX 11 supported to it but HD 4000 Series do not supported to Shader Model 5 and some features but DirectX 11 fully supported to Shader Model 5.! GTA IV is not a DirecX 11 game it is just a Shader Model 3 game that's why it can be played on DirectX 9 graphic cards but it supported to DirectX 10 too so you can enable DirectX 10 features if you have a DirectX 10 supported graphic card + OS

Well you may got DirectX 11 installed on your PC but if you don't have a DirectX 11 supported graphic card then you can not enable the DirectX 11 features in fact GTA IV does not supported to DirectX 11 as well.!

You need DirectX 11 supported Game + OS + Graphic card in order to Enable DirectX 11 all features.! but some says 10.1 can be used to play DirectX 11 games.

It doesnt matter your DX version, if you have DX 11, 12, 13, or w/e, those games will run with a DX9 .dll (d3dx9_XX.dll) with DX9 features.

yeah people just don't get that you NEED to have a DirectX11 card to see the DirectX11 effects, even if you have Windows 7 that is DirectX11. you wont see anything beyond the version of DX that your card has.

otherwise why even bother to release a DirectX11 card??

I just wished they would have waited for a few games to be made first and allow nvidia to catch up [bad marketing i know] as it would allow more people to enjoy more games and get people aware of what they have and what they still NEED, for dx 11.

well I'm neutral... if ATI offered "3D Vision" with their 5870 GPU, then I would get that in a second, but that's the only thing stopping me from getting that card right now, I feel that waiting to see what Nvidia has to offer is worth the wait, also they have claimed that their DX11 will beat the 5870, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt.

3D gaming really is worth it, and it could explain why Nvidia's cards are more expensive. People forget that Nvidia offers that.

for the people that could care less about 3D gaming, then I would recommend the 5870, it's clearly very powerful, and does have DX11.

but if someone wants to AT LEAST have the option to play games in 3D in the future, (if they ever change their mind, and decide to play in 3D) I just can't recommend the 5870

and as it is, I still think it's worth waiting a couple months to see how Nvidia's card stacks up against the 5870.

and then compare features to price. :-)

I myself got a 5870 on thursday and can back up its power with confidence. I cannot see why nvidia charge so much, but i guess its like intel..... you pay double for that slight extra premium

not sure if you read my other comment or not, but your paying a premium for the ability to play games in 3D, some people can't justify paying the extra amount for this feature, while others think it's amazing (like me) and easily see the value in the 3D, and are willing to pay the extra amount for it (Like me) :-)

I can definitely see the price of the GTX 295, dropping like a stone as a result of the benchmarks and loss of sales they will receive because of it.

however I wont be buying another DX10 card anyways.

soon, they will be completely phased out, just like DirectX9 cards were.

I have a feeling the Nvidia DX11 card will be surprisingly cheap to compete with ATI when it's released, we shall see :-)

2] GTA IV is dx9

3] DX11 isnt avalible for consumers untill oct 22nd, so even if you did have the hardware you would still have to wait.... like me :(

5870 Came on thursday and iv used my code to download dirt 2, and it tells me in my "dxdiag" my dx version is dx11. BUT! dx11 option isnt in the game options. and wont be untill oct 22nd when dx11 and [probably] a patch to enable full dx11 support.

Win 7 RC says dx11 but what matters is your graphics card, which is still only directx10 or 10.1. Also whatever programs you're using to measure FPS (fraps, evga precision, etc.) will probably only support dx10.1 and below, meaning if you are running in dx11 it won't show fps.
